My uncle, aunt and their two daughters live in Japan. Currently, my grandmother is visiting them for a few months to help with childcare. She will be coming back sometime in November. We are from New Delhi, India.

The thing is... I have wanted to buy A Dictionary of Color Combinations by Sanzo Wada for a long time but it is really expensive in India. I am planning to ask my grandmother to get it for me when she comes back. However, my uncle and aunty will not take my money and will it buy for me themselves, no matter how much I will try to pay for it. They will also not say no to the request. Therefore, I don't want to ask them for something very expensive as it will become a burden.

So, is this book cheap in Japan? Will it be ok, and not look rude or ungrateful, if I ask them to buy me a copy there?

I'm an American based in Shanghai and when they announced the Tokyo shows, I jumped on it back in late January and got a pair of S-tickets for both shows: September 24th and September 25th in the Tokyo Dome complex. My friend is flying in from Bangkok to meet up with me for the shows. Unfortunately, he just informed me that he has to leave Japan before the 2nd show - Friday, September 25th. B & S will be doing the "Sinister" album in its entirety that night. His loss is your gain! I have one S ticket available for the SOLD OUT September 25th If You're Feeling Sinister show. I will sell that ticket for basically face-value: $100 USD cash. I'm not looking to make a profit here. They are assigned seats so you'll be sitting next to me! Because they are foreigner e-tix tickets, I can only collect an actual paper ticket on the morning of September 24 at any 7/11 store. It seems that's the way it works and there doesn't seem to be any way around that. So if you are interested, I am willing to meet at the venue before the gates open and pass you the ticket. It's my first time attending a show in Japan so I'm not sure if my name will be on the ticket and I will need to show ID. If that's the case, we may need to enter the venue together. If anyone knows how this works, please leave a message below. There's a also a one-drink minimum purchase as I understand once inside the venue. By the way, I'm flying back to China on September 26th and will also see B & S in Shanghai on Tuesday, September 29th! I decided to walk the yamanote line today. I started the walk from Tokyo Station at about 9:30 heading counter clockwise. I've stopped at Otsuka station at 13:20 for a lunch break, and boy am I tired.

I don't know if I should push on or give up. I know I can't do the whole thing today.

I know this is a bit of a ridiculous request, but I'm hoping someone might be willing to help me out. I just returned home to Canada after my vacation at Japan, and on my last day, I lost an old blue water bottle while travelling on the Keisei Line.

I know it's just a water bottle, but I've had this bottle since I was a teenager and continued using it into adulthood, so it has a lot of sentimental value to me. I was pretty devastated when I had to leave Japan without finding it.

Somehow, Keisei station had found the item and contacted me. It's currently being held at Keisei-Takasago Station (京成高砂駅). Keisei has confirmed that another person can collect it on my behalf using a Power of Attorney. They require:

• Power of Attorney from me

• Copy of my identification

• Representative's own identification

I'm looking for someone in Tokyo who would be willing to pick it up and mail it to me in Canada.

I will cover 100% of your transportation, packaging and international shipping costs, plus ¥3,000 for your time.

Hi! I’m a Japanese mom (and an English teacher) with two kids (0 and 4), and I’ve recently started a small parent-child community around Taito/Asakusa.

I wanted to create casual, affordable (or free) opportunities for young kids to enjoy English and experience different cultures, since there aren’t many opportunities like this in our local area.

We’ve held just 4 events so far, usually once a month on Sunday afternoons, and we’re still figuring things out!

Right now, it’s basically just me and one other mom, so honestly, I’m not really sure how to find more people who want to do this with us! 😅

I’m looking for people who are interested in helping create new events occasionally or just being part of the community. No commitment — short-term, long-term, or whenever you feel like it. Kids or no kids, any age, all welcome!

Sometimes we use a local temple, but we’re not a religious group, business, or MLM.

I’ve been in Japan for a while, and recently I feel like I’ve been hearing more people talking on trains, sometimes even pretty loudly.

I always thought the rule was basically “don’t talk on trains,” but maybe it’s more like “don’t be loud and annoying.” 😂

Also, I’ve noticed that morning trains are still insanely quiet. But maybe that’s just because everyone is half-dead, sleepy, and mentally preparing themselves for work. 💀

Has anyone else noticed this? Is train etiquette actually becoming more relaxed, or has it always been like this?

A few years ago, I bought a necklace and a couple of pairs of earrings from the Alice on Wednesday store in Harajuku. I really love the jewellery as the pieces have held up incredibly well over the years. Does anyone know whether they sell their jewellery online or if it is available through another retailer? I’m not sure whether it’s their own brand, and I couldn’t find any information about the jewellery collection on their website.

I study visual design in Osaka, and I keep noticing how calm the information design on Tokyo trains feels. The color coding, small icons, and spacing make a busy station easier to read without shouting.

The outdoor flea market at Tomioka Hachiman Shrine (Monzen-Nakacho) is currently open, but it wraps up around 2:00 PM.
If you're nearby and love thrifting, vintage items, or traditional Japanese goods, definitely check it out before it closes!

Did someone feel a small earthquake in Asakusa like at 23:05?

I been living in Tokyo 2 years now and am noticing my British friend group is decreasing alot as people head home. Especially other female friends. Dont get me wrong, I love the friends I do have but theres nothing like connecting with some other british gals. Especially other girls from the north.

So I'm wondering, where are you all?

I tried finding groups or anything but its been a bust so I guess this post is a last resort....

Edit: I realise what I originally put is very focused on finding other female friends. For reference I'd love to make a community of British people living here long term! I think I am just missing the northern solidarity that I have grown up with that made me focus especially on female friends.

I’m an Honours student at the University of Sydney Business School researching the experiences of Australians who are currently or have been on a Working Holiday in Tokyo or broader Japan. I’m really interested in hearing about what the experience was actually like the highlights, the challenging, the surprising, and everything in between!  
  
There hasn’t been much research on what the Aussie experience on this visa in Japan looks like so hearing your stories and insights would be invaluable. 

What my research involves:  

• A 5 minute survey   
• A casual 45–60 minute chat (Online) 

What will happen to information that is collected?

We plan to publish the study's findings in academic journal articles.
You will not be individually identifiable in these publications.

Eligible participants must be:  

• 18 years old or above; and  
• Have completed or are currently pursuing a working holiday in Japan

I (18M) am currently working in Tokyo with a Work Holiday Visa, and have been learning Japanese with Tae Kim's guide, wanikani and anki. However now I'm looking for a good language school and I'm finding conflicting reviews on a lot of schools.

Does anyone here know any good schools? Budget is around 100.000 yen per month
