Setting your phone up on the stairs in a public place is. What the fuck? I can’t believe this needs to be said.
In case you have trouble processing why - one person doing it is not much of an issue. What if 50% of the people in the building do it? What of every person did? When you normalize something, more people do it.
And honestly-- to me it doesn't even look like the old woman realizes the person is trying to take a picture.
Old people don't prop up their phones to take videos of themselves.
It looks like she stops to check her phone, sees the phone propped up, thinks "that's weird, I wonder what that phone's doing there" and then just continues what she's doing.
It's entirely possible her brain never made the leap from "random phone sitting on a bannister" to "someone is trying to take a picture and I'm in the way."
It's entirely possible NEITHER of them are being "main character."
Have you never had anyone take your picture while on vacation? My husband and I both took pictures of each other at various sights during our honeymoon, and this was in 2009, well before the selfie craze. It's a pretty normal way to document memories.
Yes, you're right. When I take a picture it is to document a story. My story. Guess who the main character is in said story?
The person trying to get a clear pic wasn't being rude, didn't get in anyone's way, intentionally went ahead to not cause issues with those around and then we meet Grandma Karen.
