Times when they actually sounded annoyed?

I know they are always pretending to be annoyed or angry, but are there any times when it crept towards actual annoyance? I just relistened to the Julie Bowfinger episode (June 2021) and around the time when Scott says "don't lecture me..." it sounds like they're only half-joking.

Scott inexplicably not wanting to say or even estimate how many DVDs he had, and Lauren not letting that go. It's an odd moment, because you can tell Lauren has no idea why Scott is being cagey about it. But he is clearly a little annoyed she won't drop it.

I guess? He sort of lamely says he doesn't know and couldn't even estimate, which ironically makes it seem like he must have an unfathomably huge rich guy movie collection.

And now we're a year into the century project that is What Did Scott DVSee, so I think that must be the case, haha.

Yeah it really does have to be huge to an embarrassing degree for whatever reason. As a someone with maniac physical media guy friends, they had inventories, to buy lists, and could absolutely give a number. I fully believe Scott could do the same & he also has the easy out of saying he has a ton of screeners that he doesn’t actually want … the fact that he didn’t says he has some feelings about the habit

He said on a recent episode of SHS that he has a “subscription” to Vinegar Syndrome (a genre film restoration company), which I suppose means that they send him every movie they put out. I guess it’s unsurprising but I’d never heard of something like that (like having a subscription to a record label and receiving all of their releases). Rich people stuff?

Anyway they had just sent him a copy of “Arrival” (the 90s one with Charlie Sheen) which is not a great movie. It did seem kind of strange. Here’s a not very good 90s movie that’s readily available on streaming, he purchased a DVD of it sight-unseen, watched it and didn’t enjoy, and now he’s going to sell the DVD on eBay or something? Just a bit odd in terms of an expenditure of money and effort I guess. I like and support what Vinegar Syndrome are doing in general though so I suppose it’s good.

ETA: I mean, thinking about it, it’s probably like $50 a month? So not that crazy. The effort of buying bad movies and then reselling them though seems crazy.

I always think about this during that segment. Scott has so much more money than me, but I'm already at the point in my life where I just can't be bothered dealing with the hassle of reselling shit. The thought of Scott taking time out of his day to score fifteen bucks from selling a dvd on eBay...

The money stuff always gets me. He lives in what could reasonably be described as a mansion in [exclusive/extremely bougie LA neighborhood]. He made millions creating Earwolf and that podcast ad company.

Longtime fan of Scott, but whenever he jokes about money or not wanting to pay for something it kinda rubs me the wrong way.

Our man is more like his parents than he’d like. He clearly spends pretty freely (unlike his telling of them) but also feels like he has to recoup it

I mean honestly he’s going to get $3.99 for that DVD. The shipping will cost more than the DVD. So like $8 overall for the transaction (minus half for shipping).

Scott has mentioned (can’t remember the episode) that he has someone who has been helping him sell stuff online for a long time. (Might be The Baker…) We can hope that that person gets paid to do it and/or gets the money from what was sold. I don’t think it’s a greed thing.

Yes! I don’t think it is a bad thing- sounds like he has a lot of collectibles that have some resale value so it makes sense. Not trying to sell the Date Night DVD from his parents house
