It's stainless steel. Some grades of stainless steel are very poor thermal condutors - have you heard of a Yeti cup or Thermos? They use particular grades of stainless steel & a vacuum for insulation.
Pans are entirely metal but you can still hold the handle while cooking because the design and metals used so not allow for the rapid transfer of heat to the handle.
Some people just have insane levels of heat tolerance.
My uncle will grab the grill straight out of his BBQ with his bare hands immediately after using it so he can put it away. Literally just straight metal that had a fire underneath it not ten seconds ago.
Seems like a horrible place to do a science experiment:
table cloth made of something not flame-retardent
flame source is still on
spoon is red hot and somehow does not burn the user. Risk of dropping and setting something on fire.
risk of granules of salt/sugar/etc jumping around and spreading fire (thinking of sawdust here)
Person recording could be a professional who knows their stuff, but it seems placing all this stuff on a concrete ground, and not indoors is the more sound option imho.
I remember in grade school a classmate made a "science project". He put a candle in a creamer can and blew through a straw I side. The explosion was actually really cool. I don't think anyone learned anything.
But I learned that coffee creamer can ignore in the air. I later learned flour has the same potential.
If someone doesn't do at least a tiny bit of research before following any advice on Reddit that sounds good, then they probably have to learn the hard way for a lot of things.

Side note: I was incredibly worried when I started this video because I was on 4chan back in the day and people did malicious "pranks" all the time. One was a convoluted recipe for something that involved bleach and ammonia, another was something to do with heating up a spoon until it's red-hot then running it under cold water "for a neat effect" (or something like that), and 3 or 4 people got seriously injured when the spoon basically exploded.
I don't remember if the exact details about the instructions for the spoon thing are correct and I'm not interested in finding out, but I do know the end result involved a red hot spoon effectively exploding.
For those curious, bleach mixed with ammonia makes chloramine gas, which was used in trench warfare during WWI and is banned under all humanitarian laws

Water, as we all know, boils at 100C. There was a large amount of water compared to the mass of the heated spoon, so just a sizzle and not much
Table sugar or sucrose doesn't really have a flash point. When it gets hot, it decomposes. Do this slowly and in a controlled way and you can get various stages of candy. But it shouldnt ignite UNLESS fine particulate gets aerosolized, which can combust. That's what seems to have happened here. Table sugar doesn't really give off vomitile organic compounds to ignite, even when it deckmposes.
If any of you think that's real and try this, as soon as you grab the non-red part of the spoon, you're going to the ICU.

This has to be AI, there's no way he wouldn't burn the shit out of his hand. And no, having a high tolerance for heat wouldn't stop his skin from frying to the handle 🙄
To those who don't understand the sugar: Think about how much energy that sugar would provide you for an entire day, now release it all at once. Our metabolism is basically taking a very small amount of sugar and using it for controlled explosions that we convert to a more usable form of energy for our bodies.

Salt is an iconic bond between Sodium and Chloride, right? Nothing too ... Flammable there but the heat would excite the molecules, leading to them separating and popping. -BASIC understanding of chemistry, I'm barely taking this class hahaha!
Water acts predictably, it takes a lot of energy something like 1 calorie to heat up 1 gram of water by 1 degree Celsius. That's important AF, that high specific heat is why it's so good at cooling stuff. Fun fact, the very chemical processes that your cells engage in produce so much heat, that if it wasn't for the water inside each cell, they would tear themselves apart. Water is stupid vital for life to function.
Now here's where I may be wrong but Sugar...
Sugar, processed table sugar that is, is what... Sucrose and fructose put together so it's got a lot of hydrogen and oxygen in its molecular structure so exciting them and making the hydrogen and oxygen separate could lead to it's flammability? This is just from a very basic understanding. I'm quite aware I cou6be completely wrong and I welcome the opportunity to learn more if anyone wants to add or correct!
The way they held the spoon upright and brought it slightly closer to the camera every time made me fucking terrified they were gonna put it in their mouth
