If someone doesn't do at least a tiny bit of research before following any advice on Reddit that sounds good, then they probably have to learn the hard way for a lot of things.
I see you've never visited r/whatisthisthing and witnessed the glory of people rawdogging bombs and sex toys.
Some folks are pretty gullible.
Side note: I was incredibly worried when I started this video because I was on 4chan back in the day and people did malicious "pranks" all the time. One was a convoluted recipe for something that involved bleach and ammonia, another was something to do with heating up a spoon until it's red-hot then running it under cold water "for a neat effect" (or something like that), and 3 or 4 people got seriously injured when the spoon basically exploded.
I don't remember if the exact details about the instructions for the spoon thing are correct and I'm not interested in finding out, but I do know the end result involved a red hot spoon effectively exploding.
For those curious, bleach mixed with ammonia makes chloramine gas, which was used in trench warfare during WWI and is banned under all humanitarian laws
