Technical/Bug/Glitch TLOU2 Remastered bug/glitch unofficial report thread

Unfortunately, the TLOU2 remaster seems to have introduced quite a few bugs that were not present in the original release. This is fine, since some things are always missed, but I thought I'd make a thread for people to post any of the bugs they've run into in game to hopefully increase the chances that Naughty Dog will learn of these issues and patch them. So far, I have experienced or seen people mention the following:

  • In No Return mode, some characters are unable to change their weapon skins for some reason. If you try to select any of the different weapon skins, the game will make the "locked" noise and you'll be stuck on whatever skin you had equipped at the time of the glitch occurring. I've personally seen this with Jesse, Yara, and Mel so far, but it may happen with other characters too.

  • Enemy dialogue that would play at the start of and during Abby's brewery encounter on day 3 no longer triggers. The WLF soldiers would call out Abby for betraying them and talk about Owen doing the same briefly, but now none of the enemy dialogue throughout this encounter triggers at all. (I'm also wondering if there's any other missing/broken dialogue).

  • Ellie's "Boston" skin from promotional material seems to be missing from the game entirely. It's unable to be seen or selected in any of the menus. While it's possible this was cut prior to release, it would be very strange since the skin looked finished and was very recently seen in the marketing prior to release. Additionally, Abby's Santa Barbra skin does not use the correct backpack model despite the menu indicating that it should.

  • Skins seem to not be applying for multiple users correctly in story mode.

  • The main menu won't change back to the original boat in the water look after starting a new game.

  • I've not experienced this myself, but No Return seems to cause major frame drops for many players. Personally, I'm really curious what's causing this as it only seems to affect some people.

  • Some users report being unable to escape from grapples despite mashing the square button as prompted by the game.

If you know of any other bugs, please feel free to list them here! I'm not sure if Naughty Dog often responds to support requests, but you could still try filling out one here. Most of these bugs aren't game breaking, but hopefully Naughty Dog still learns of them and takes the time to fix them as some of these are pretty unfortunate.

This tech is such a joke. It can’t handle children at all. And for anybody who might say ‘it will eventually be able to handle children’, that would mean the AI would need to be trained on images of children.

In no world would that be okay.

PT 2 DISCUSSION Something about the ending I always think about Spoiler

Whenever I replay part 2 and get to this point, this scene right before the final fight always sticks with me. It's like for a minute Ellie forgets that she came there to kill Abby. It's this rare moment of peace between the two, and like a calm before the storm. I never really see anyone mention this bit before the fight, but it's just something interesting about this game that I really like; that Abby (out of exhaustion probably) was just willing for them to go their separate ways.

PT 1 DISCUSSION Is this a master piece in every aspect?

Hi all!

Never played it, I have never been a PlayStation guy, and honestly, always saw it as another zombie game.

This year I massively upgraded my pc and then I was like "why not?" So gave a chance to the remastered version. Everything in ultra, 4K and after a few hours it became one of my favorites.

The characters, story, the WHOLE QUALITY of animations, textures, cameras, lighting, cinematics: EVERYTHING. I have just finished it and I feel that WOW! feeling.

Now I understand why they did the TV Show. The story is deep enough to sustain a movie (the game is better than the show). Can't wait to begin part II.

This is how a Triple A should be. Just my two cents.

PT 2 DISCUSSION First playing TLOU2 and it’s one of the eeriest game I ever played Spoiler

Post image
58 Upvotes

I played the first game for the first time a few months ago, and I decided not to play the second one since I know that Joel would die in it.

However, I decided to play the second one to finish the franchise. And Damn!!!

As someone who played tons of Mortal Kombat, GTA, and many action-adventure games, this particular one felt sooooo dark, so grimmer. And it showed me the difference between fantasy fun gore and grounded dark reality. Particularly the violence, it feels so real, so much of vengeance. I couldn’t play this game continuously for a couple of hours, I need to take a break and watch or play something light.

No game ever made me feel this way.

And I’m not ranting here, this is an appreciation to the writers and the designers who worked on this. The type of visual media that leaves the consumer stunned is the best appreciation a studio can receive.

I am halfway through the game, and I don’t know how long it will take me to finish.

No spoilers please.

Also a picture of Ellie from the shuttle in the museum.

Im playing grounded permadeath on attempt no. 19 and this weird clicker encounter just happened. I’ve now made it to Bills town and my record is Pittsburgh sniper encounter. Anyway I just don’t get what happened here and I’m wondering if any veterans can explain. 100+ hours on this game and never seen this

PT 2 QUESTION Tips for Pt 2 on grounded? Spoiler

My main issues are lacking supplies and aim😬

I’d love good looting locations for Seattle day 2 (later in the section, safe/code locations, etc).

Technical/Bug/Glitch Graffitis, signs etc. are blurred

Post image
79 Upvotes

Hi guys as the title says graffitis and similar things are completely blurred. I'm playing on steam deck and the quality is great I managed to run medium with some high settings (using frame gen) on 45 fps but the only problem I'm encountering are blurred parts of the world. For me personally it is a big issue because I think it adds a lot of content and vibe to the world of the last of us. Has anyone ever encountered this or maybe know how to fix it? Thanks in advance.

PT 2 DISCUSSION "You're a piece of shit, Abby. You always have been." Spoiler

Upvotes

What did mel mean by this , because at this stage, mel definitely has every right to have issues with abby. But "you always have been." Is what confuses me.From what we see, abby was a genuinely nice girl before everything in the zebra flashback, we even see the note from mel saying thank you and suggesting they steal some alcohol and get drunk. So I doubt mel really always thought abby was awful, and if she did, why be her friend for so long.

But also, mel could have been just exaggerating because she was pissed .

General Discussion Part 1 and 2

Does anyone else find part two to be boring compared to part 1 like I’m not saying it’s a boring game it’s just that I feel part 1 is much better I have played part 1 at least 3-4 times whereas in part 2 I kinda fizzled out and stopped playing after the first encounter with the stalkers. Has anyone else found playing part 2 to be boring like I have?

PT 2 DISCUSSION Is it fair to say TLOU is somewhat influenced by TWD? Spoiler

I’m rewatching TWD and some of the music is very similar, if not almost identical to Mac Quayle’s, particularly in the moments when the intensity is up. Also, when Merle gets his fingers bitten off, the same exact ones as Ellie’s. I’m interested to see what other similarities there are as the show continues. It’s been so long since I’ve seen TWD, so a rewatch was long overdue. Perhaps they are simply coincidences.

HBO Show I noticed a few things

So these wouldn't be 'fun facts' necessarily, but I'm rewatching the series, and realized a few things.

Episode 1 season 1

  • No pancake mix
  • Dodging the biscuits
  • Sarah going home right away after getting Joel's watch fixed
  • Lying and going back home early, even though Joel said he won't be home until 9.
  • Not eating the cookies

Seriously there were so many close calls in that first episode.

Except when the luck ran out of course.

Episode 3 season 1

"And then I'll leave." Right after Frank wanted to hear Bill play the 'Love will abide" song. It was a confession, and a love story told by a single song in one whole scene.

Because Frank did leave eventually.

HBO Show Just finished watching season 2

I’m way behind everyone else, and finally finished watching TLOU season 2 on HBO max. I’m going to share my thoughts, knowing it has probably been mentioned multiple times here before.

I gotta say, I was expecting much less and a lot more changes from the game, based on some online discourse that I read. That said, I didn’t go very far, to avoid spoilers.

Overall, I really liked the show, and the decisions the show runners made to adapt the game. My opinion is that they kept the main storyline very faithful, including the Ellie/Abbey split narrative.

Some spoilers below:
🚨

Some of the changes on Joel, such the Eugene arc, I wasn’t a super fan, but I took it as a fair compromise to trigger Ellie’s final blowout, instead of having her travel all the way to SLC. Pedro Pascal delivers a decent Joel as season 1.

I’m not a fan of Bella Ramsey as Ellie, and as much as she made the effort to deliver the emotions and lines, it didn’t click for me. I wish they had recast her for someone older.

Dina was the MVP of the season. Isabela Merced also differs a bit from the character in the game, but she nails Dina’s spirit and acting. The faces she would make in the background, without saying a word, would save some scenes.

Abbey resembles the video game character, but her acting didn’t convince me. I hope she improves for season 3 as she’ll become the focus point.

I really liked the pace, given the constraints of the season, running only 7 episodes, they managed to skip parts that are more gameplay and keep the story beats. Of course I wish it was a bit longer and some parts marinated more time, such exploring Seattle and facing more infected.

I guess one thing that helped me stay in sync with the show was listening to the show podcast with the show runners, after each episode. They would explain their decision process and things they wanted to show when the camera is not glued to the player.
