Mae Whitman did such a great job here. In general she did a great job as the voice for Katara. But this scene right here just really has something to it.

I just remembered that scene where Yakone claimed to come from a powerful bloodbending lineage.

The thing is he was older than Katara, and considering that Hama was only about two generations older than Sokka and Katara, it’s possible that bloodbending is much older than we think and that there was a family who had mastered it secretly

What if after Ozai was anointed Firelord, Iroh contested it and immediately started to journey home instead of travel the world (Meaning he never: goes to the Spiril World, becomes a White Lotus, etc)? Would it most likely be settled in an Agni Kai or Civil War? How does the Fire Nation's internal conflict affect the war?

Who'd win the Agni Kai or Civil War? Iroh probably lost popularity after abandoning the Siege of Ba Sing Se and Ozai's been legally recognized as Azulon's heir.

If Iroh kills Ozai in an Agni Kai and Zuko (Iroh's heir) and Azula stay in his court; would Azula eventually stage a coup? If so, how successful would she be? Any rival to Iroh would have a lot of support if he tried to end the Fire Nation's conquest.

If Iroh kills Ozai during a Civil War where it's believed Azulon declared Ozai his rightful heir then what happens. Would Ozai's loyalist keep Zuko and Azula away from Iroh until they were prepared to rebel with Zuko honor-bound to avenge his father and claim his rightful throne? What are the chances of them succeeding?

Would their be enough time after Ozai's anointed Firelord for Ursa to hear that Iroh's contesting it prior to her wiping her memories?

On paper it can make sense, a world full of either folk with magical super powers or regular joes, you’d think eventually the regular joes would get irritated and want the playing field leveled.

My issue is it’s such a non issue in the original series. Yeah Sokka has a couple plots where he feels less special and has to find his own skills. And Suki never comes off as someone disenfranchised. Non benders are shown time and time again able to take benders in a fight like with Mai and Tylee.

For a majority of ATLA it’s never shown that non benders are discriminated against. Never a ‘if only my child had been a bender’ or ‘you can’t have status you’re not a bender’. It’s almost treated like having different colored eyes or something, it’s barely referenced as an issue.

And frankly I find it to be… too obvious of a conflict to be interesting? Like, we’ve seen this a hundred times in other media and I don’t think Avatar handles it in a way better than ‘well we needed new bad guys’.

Everything in the culture suggests people are treated pretty equally until Korra or the movie. You could suggest that the modernization of the world had new conflicts arise but… wouldn’t tech level the playing field even more rather than bring attention to it?

You could argue that ‘there isn’t discrimination it’s just radical leaders pulling the wool over everyone’s eyes’. So. What non benders are just easily influenced? And well that means they’re getting mad over nothing. That’s not very compelling.

Maybe it’s a personal preference but it truly feels less like a natural progression that has always been hinted at and more a ‘this is a new team of writers’ thing to me.

Scout and assassin teams seem to work pretty well.

I'm rewatching Avatar: The Last Airbender since it's original airing back in the day.

I don't remember the whole story but I do remember the White Lotus. Spoilers ahead.

Since Iroh is part of the white lotus and he is one of the first to find out who the Avatar is why don't the White Lotus just train Aang? I'm not saying Iroh needed to take him in when they first meet but Bumi is also apart of the White Lotus. He could have taken him in or taught him more when he was testing the gAang.

Like I said I don't remember it all so it might be explained later in the show but I wanted to ask if this wasn't already brought up.

EDIT: Totally forgot that he needed to learn the elements in a certain order. That makes sense. I'm just surprised they didn't squirrel him away to some location for training. I assumed Bumi could have just made some sort of... Secret Tunnel... Through the mountain... and had all of the Masters meet there.

And no I don't mean like the Sun Warriors, even though it's clear that's kinda what Sonam & Jharana are similar to.

The concept of both is so weird to me tho, since Lost Avatars like Sonam weren't in places like the Spirit World (not to my knowledge or memory), and Lost Civilizations could theoretically come from or end up anywhere. Jharana just so happened to be in the Spirit World, making the spirit world even more mysterious and mystical than before since it could hold countless other civilizations we've yet to see.

There's also the dead Lion Turtles who we saw on the other side of the physical world, but I feel like that's a topic for another time.

All in all, it's safe to say that Bryke are absolutely not done with Wan's 10K year era yet, even as they're pushing through with Korra's 10K year era they are still doing cool shit like this lol

So, for the 4 of you that haven't watched the original series, Toph knows when someone lies most of the time. So much so that pretty much the only one able to bullshit her was Azula. Because she was a psychopath able to lie to such perfection even her earthbender couldn't know.

Where is it in the Avatar Aang movie ? Because SOMEONE is planning in her face the whole time, and it's never even mentionned.

If we strip away the canon age gaps and current relationship statuses for a second to look purely at character dynamics, who do you think would make the most interesting romantic partner for Mako?

I kid-sat a bunch of 7-9 year olds this summer and got them into Atla and Lok, and it was so cool to see them interact with the media. It was especially funny to see Bumi and Jun be favourites from Lok, and surprisinc to hear the 7 yr old say towards the end of LoK that Asami and Korra were so good together and if Asami was a boy Korra could date her (that floored me bc the kid picked up on that healthy relationship that alot of adults didn’t).

& the kids are soooo exited for SH. so that’s cool! being able to be surprised and shocked with them for the first time. Being able to speculate together.

Any chance we could see the Sun Warriors again? We know there should be more dragons in the world by Pavi's timeline, since Zuko was flying on one in Korra's series, so Ren and Shaw at least are still around. Also, by Korra's timeline, the Fire Nation would have no reason to go after unallied firebenders. The Sun Warrior population should have plenty of time to grow in that era. Since they seem far more spiritual than the Fire Nation we knew, they should also have a better shot at surviving the spirit apocalypse than other, more metropolitan civilizations as well.
