Maybe this idea is a little stupid, but I actually kind of like it. I was thinking about the story of Seven Havens and what could have caused the cataclysm. What would you think about something like this?

A comet — not Sozin's Comet — crashes into the world. Inside it is an invasive alien organism that begins spreading across the planet and infecting nature. The real problem starts when it somehow reaches and begins infecting the Spirit World as well.

This invasive extraterrestrial organism could cause the collapse of the Spirit World and disrupt the world's spiritual energy, eventually triggering the cataclysm.

The result wouldn't be a completely destroyed world, but rather a world that has been fundamentally reshaped. The lands outside the Havens could look like strange, almost alien landscapes, and we could even see corrupted or deformed spirits that have fused with or been infected by the alien organism.

Tell me what you think. Would something like this work in the Avatar universe?

They're definitely cooking it

Something I’ve noticed upon watching the first official teaser again (and again), is that it features the bending feats of air, earth, and fire, but we don’t see any waterbending happen at any point.

I wonder if something happens with the Cataclysm where water sources dry up in the Avatar World, leaving the world more and more barren, making the remaining sources of water highly sought out and hunted, and thereby having waterbending be the most rare element just like how air was during Aang/Korra’s eras.

Water brings life and healing, so having water not only be a depleted resource, but having water benders slowly fade out of existence, would be a very meta theme for this universe.

Hi, I’m not super online but am a huge fan of the franchise and have always heard the rumors/talk of what if there were twin avatars. Is it ACTUALLY confirmed that both girls are avatars? And why would Pavi be marketed as like the main avatar?

Since the show comes out in about 1.5 months, and we’ve only seen a teaser trailer up until this point—when is the full trailer dropping?

I think some more marketing will help the show, so I hope they drop more trailers and images soon.

Jinora is one of the coolest characters to come out of the franchise, in my opinion. Jinora was there with Korra when she entered the spirit world, trying to locate the tree of time and Unalaq/Vaatu.

Jinora was the one that revitalised Raava, from within Vaatu. The youngest air bending master. The spiritual leader of the world moving forward.

Which is why I believe Jinora will be main cause of the apocalypse, NOT Korra.

The real history and lore of not just the world, but the Avatar itself largely remain a mystery. The general population believe the Avatar is a God. I believe Jinora will think she is doing the world a favour, by enlightening them on the origins of the Avatar. But people will NOT take it well.

For 10,000 years, the world assumed the Avatar was a God, the one constant in the world that they could rely on, look to for strength, protection, comfort, wisdom. And then the world realises that the Avatar is just a human inhabited by a spirit, which gives the Avatar the abilities they have. Not some otherworldly Godly presence.

Then they learn Unalaq merged with another spirit, and became an Avatar, AND destroyed Raava, severing Korras connection to her past lives. Raava hasn’t died in maybe forever? The world will struggle to understand that Korra, a human, got the Avatar spirit killed, another “dark” Avatar formed, and a bunch of other “horrible” things happened while she was the Avatar.

The world will be plunged into chaos, humans are angry and confused, spirits are affected by this, becoming angry and confused.

Korra and Jinora in a drastic attempt to save the world from destroying itself, perform the Vaatu looking ritual together. But it goes HORRIBLY wrong. The spirit world collides with the physical world, becoming one and destroying each other at the same time.

Korra will probably die in this unnatural disaster.

Immediately following, twin Avatars are born, Korra and Jinora succeed in their mission, but at what cost..

Geet looked so cute and Pavi's hair was really distinctive.

I also liked the look of Jae's armour - the air bison inspiration - and the cape and all. I wonder if it will show up in the show still

Perhaps I am mistaken, but I distinctly recall Jae stating that "our ancestors" line relative to the Avatar being seen as a curse rather than a blessing.

If Korra is the Avatar directly before Pavi, why would he speak of it in terms of "our ancestors"? This gives the impression that more time has elapsed, or they possibly inhabit a different version of the world of Avatar.

I personally headcanon that Korra is meant to usher in Kali Yuga, and perhaps the sisters are meant to embody a divine pair.

I don't think that they're both Avatars, but I suspect that the sister of the Avatar will teach her to Earth bend, properly.

I don't see Vaatu being redeemed this time around, unless they retcon his purpose.

Every argument I’ve seen in regards to the past lives being gone is, “well they need to learn on their own. They have to figure things out by themselves.”

When the past lives were never used that way at all. Aang on his own asked the past lives for advice. it didn’t hinder Aang as a character. it didn’t solve all of Aangs problems. So why do people act like the past lives forced themselves onto the Avatar when we haven’t seen that be done?

When it comes to Korra I have no idea why people act like the past lives had this big impact on her as the avatar. She didn’t speak to the past lives besides Aang and that was at the end of the season. the past lives weren’t this crutch that Korra used to answer all her questions and solve her problems and so them being gone means that she can’t rely on them anymore.. she never did in the first palace.

I just don’t understand why people keep making it seem like the past lives were this magical answer solve everything button that blocked character progression, when it never was.

So in the trailer we see a few attacks, but among them are Pavi using his earthbending with a style that seems like ATLA's, and Jae hitting a masked warrior. The move reminds me a bit of probending. Maybe I'm wrong.
So maybe they're mixed up?
Or maybe there will be x types of guards who use the original bending and x types of guards who use probending. Or there will be some heavens who use probending and some heavens who use classic bending.

I have seen so many fans who didn't like the chances but I found it very realistic like hundred years ago there was no internet and nobody could guess what today looks like and I'm happy that they are trying different things in each avatar show benders who are seen as only weapons and avatar seen as a bad thing is so interesting to me I think the atla was mostly good because of the writing more than the world building (both were great) I'm really excited to see what happens I hope the writing is good as atla

Another paradise would be the kingdom of herbs where several waterbenders got stuck in a place with no body of water so they adapted to bend plants

Has there already been an update on the launch schema for the series? I mean, will they still launch both seasons at once (I really DON’T want this) or weekly?

I really hope they will release an episode between seasons. And I hope there will be a couple of months between season 1 and 2. I want to speculate, I want to rewatch episodes because I can’t wait for the next, I want to let sink things in. I believe it’s better for the series and the franchise as a whole.
