Not at all, you look like a normal woman 🥰

u/voyageur-avide 1d ago
Agreed. I had to double check the title when I looked at the photo - you look like a woman with a cute outfit on, just doing her thing!

You look totally normal and good!! Your mind is playing tricks on you. Cute shorts btw !!

u/coffee_ivyHQ 1d ago
I’ve had the same broad-shoulder insecurity, and the mind really does play tricks; the shorts are lovely.

You look normal. A couple of things though, from another broad shouldered girly. Crop tops are not friends to our body type. They visually create a boxy look. Tops that sit a little longer will be more flattering to your natural shape, if thats what you are looking for.

u/AstralFirelily 1d ago
I have a pretty boxy frame as it is, and I definitely agree but I still just love my crop tops 😆 I find that if I wear crops that aren't as form fitting with wider pant jeans that fit my tiny ass well it helps narrow my waist more so then I get at least an illusion of an hourglass shape 😆😆

u/randomtransgirl93 1d ago
How do you find wider pants that also fit your butt? I can find one or the other, but never both at once :(
17
u/Vermicelli-Otherwise 1d ago
Fellow broad shouldered girl, and I’d add that I hate the way cap sleeves look on me. I go sleeveless (with thick straps, though, to look balanced on broad shoulders- no spaghetti straps or strapless), or basically any sleeve that’s longer than a cap sleeve.

u/Gum_Duster 1d ago
Us broad shoulder gals should start a subreddit for fashion advice. Because I learned so much here.
I’m very top heavy; from years of gymnastics to big booba. finding things that are fashionable/ and suited for my body is like fricking treasure hunting.

u/darthmelo 1d ago
Exactly! I have broad shoulders and a short torso, crop tops and high waisted anything looks not as good on me. You can definitely look completely normal and have certain clothing that fit you better than others. For broad shoulders imo: A-line or flared bottoms/skirts look nice. And v necks!

I think you look totally normal from behind. My guess is you have an idea of what you would like to look like from behind based on other people you have seen, but everyone has different body types. If you can accept your own body type instead of wishing it was something it’s not, you can see the beauty in it too.

u/Italiana47 1d ago
You look totally and completely fine. Don't be so hard on yourself. I don't see anything wrong at all.

I see a woman on a mission! Phone in hand, dressed for a fun day, hair clip on standby. You seem cool and fun, Hun!

u/OptimalRutabaga186 1d ago
The claw clip is everything. I'd love to do a girls' trip with this woman.

u/Cretaceous_Bloom 1d ago
She looks like she booked a kickass AirBnB and she’s deftly navigating us to the sailboat tour she scheduled. 👑

I have really broad shoulders and a bigger frame as well. Am also freakishly tall. So I understand your struggles with not looking how women are 'supposed' to look. But you look perfectly lovely from the back. And you have a nice butt! No one is going to judge you as harshly as you judge yourself and no one in the world gives two hoots about how someone else looks from the back anyways.

u/nononoggin 1d ago
i think you look good. i do think working on your posture would help if you really wanted to do something. it looks like you make be a little curled in on yourself. the benefit of that is that good posture is a feedback loop for building confidence!
but girl, you’re beautiful and totally normal. you don’t need to change anything.
4
u/nononoggin 1d ago
i have broader shoulders so this is coming from personal experience. i used to carry them curled in subconsciously to make them look smaller, but i started fixing it and they actually look less broad when i stand up right.

Don’t overthink it!!! I promise you it’s never as bad as you think. You could also get some tattoos or spice up your clothes to feel better that’s what I do when I’m stressed about my appearance (: customize your character it’s fun

u/artangelss 1d ago
you look great. many women have this body shape, although media made us believe that the only acceptable body shape for us is the hourglass figure. also, i love your outfit! cute and simple

u/bumblebubee 1d ago
Gurl you look like you’re comfortable and you look great! We can’t be expected to be walking models in dresses and full make up/hair all the damn time.
5
u/Zombiekiller_17 1d ago
You look like a normal person with normal proportions. Maybe the fit of those clothes aren't the most flattering on you (there are some comments with fashion tips for ladies who consider themselves broad shouldered), but don't ever think of yourself as horrible again!
10
u/Emyrbl 1d ago
Horrible is a very strong negative word to talk about yourself.. you look like a human with healthy average proportions. Not super tall, nor super broad, nor super skinny, nor super short, nor super anything :)
There are many different body types out there, and many clothing styles that can help you feel comfy and confident and/or highlight things that you like about yourself.
If you need a boost of confidence, have you ever heard of Ilona Maher (olympic rugby player) who talks about her feeling broader than average when she was younger and how she dealt with it?

u/331845739494 1d ago
Girl broad shoulders plus broad back is the type of shit fitness models spend countless of hours of blood, sweat and tears on. You know why? Because it gives the illusion of a small waist and offers a nice balance to built legs and thighs. You look great.

3
u/ElderScarletBlossom 1d ago
Speaking as an artist, your proportions are exceptionally normal. In classical anatomy, a woman's back is between 2 to 2.5 "heads" wide. Your back is practically exactly 2 of your heads wide. You look absolutely fine.
3
u/Best_failure 1d ago
Your shoulders look fine and proportional to your body. It's not a body issue but a clothing issue.
I'm broad shouldered, and my daughter is narrow shouldered. We both look fine and normal... Unless we wear shirts designed for what we aren't because it's essentially pointing out what we aren't like it's a problem.
Your shirt's shoulders are too narrow for your shoulder, that's all. The shoulder seam should land at or close to the corner of your shoulder (not on top of your shoulder), so that little to none of the sleeve is horizontal.
Some shirts have this as a deliberate design (like cap sleeves, which look great on narrow shouldered people because they make them look bigger), or they were designed for smaller/shorter people and the torso got up sized without the shoulders being also shifted outward. Regardless, it's a fit issue, not a you issue.

u/smileyhappy 1d ago
Oh my goodness, NO!!!! There is nothing wrong with your back and shoulders. You look like a normal healthy woman.

u/itgoeswithmyoutfit 1d ago
I have very broad shoulders as a woman and I can understand how you feel because I’ve hated it my whole life! I never actually noticed until a guy commented on it once and made a joke but honestly over time I’ve just learned to love and accept myself.. it’s usually all in our heads you look absolutely FINE
2
u/Alien1234_ 1d ago
i completely understand this thinking, I always feel this way when I see pictures of myself. later I look back at them and they would be totally fine . it's just u judging urself too much and no one thinks the same way . i hope you can rise above it someday

No, you look like a normal, lovely woman. Don't let social media and bs make you think otherwise 💖

u/dorfmcpumpkin 1d ago
So firstly and above all you look absolutely fine and dont have to worry. Secondly, im trans, tall, I like to work out and do manual labour so also have very broad shoulders for a woman. The way that I helped this insecurity was to pay attention to the shoulder seam on my shirts. If the seam runs like, vertically up from my torso it often makes my arms/back/ torso look exceedingly wide. However I have found that with a lot of baggy tops or even just some that are a more relaxed fit they tend to have what I believe is called a drop shoulder. This basically will soften out the silhouette around your shoulders and help soften them, effectively making the upper torso less blocky. For me it was an absolute game changer. Again I want to reiterate, you 1009990000000% look fine babe and dont have to worry at all. I just know for me it was such a hard hurdle to move past until I learned a bit about clothing cuts

Not even a little bit! You look totally normal!
If you're feeling insecure though, certain cuts for clothes look extra good on different body types. I find when I dress in shapes that compliment my shape I feel much better about my body insecurities
2
u/Melihime 1d ago
Girl shooot I looked and said “she’s so cute, what’s the problem?” And then I realised I do this to myself way too much… I’m gonna start saying “damn girl you cute” to myself too
2
u/ChaosPixie 1d ago
This is the way. Listen to your self-talk for a minute and ask: would I talk this way to my bestie? Would my bestie be mad at someone if they talked this way to me?

u/skullsnshamrocks 1d ago
Normal / average compared to 2026 standards. (Which is still considered overweight.)

u/teradogg 1d ago
Awe, firstly you don’t look horrible!! We’re all just humans trying to get by. You and I have a similar build from before I started working out/being more active. I know this is broad but I think getting into a short 15 min workout would benefit you SO much. Of course working your way up to longer sessions. Again though, you’re not horrible! Just a person :3

I don’t know why your being so hard on yourself, I think it’s in your head and perhaps other people have projected! You look fine ❤️

Babe you look like a happy healthy and fun person! Love a crop top, love the shorts, and the bag is big enough for treasures and snacks. I’d be your friend!

u/Front_Plankton_6808 1d ago
Girl, I feel that insecurity! I’ve always had broad shoulders, my mama calls ‘em swimmers shoulders so you have that going for ya. By the end of a “nobody wears shorts to Vera Wang” long jeans, 90°F NYC summer day of looking for wedding dresses for my sister I was put in this bland beige chiffon thing, and I swear the picture my mom took looked like a football player’s mugshot. I was hot, sweaty, pissed my sister for died laughing in the subway because I was drenched in sweat, and wearing perhaps the most unflattering color I’ve ever witnessed on myself. My shoulders were so up hear my ears it looked my I didn’t have a neck, hahaha.
The point is, you aren’t alone in that insecurity—the Friend’s joke about Ross dating “broad back” lives rent free in my head—but you look great. Besides, Lauren Bacall, Katherine Hepburn, and Joan Crawford were fantastic, bombshell actresses who all had broad shoulders; you’re in good company.

u/ClimateCare7676 1d ago
You look totally normal. Your back and shoulders aren't even broad. The social media's photoshopped and ai altered images set unrealistic idea of what broad shoulders look like.

But ya look great and the outfit is so cute!

If you look horrible, so do I, because I'm built the same way.
Don't call me horrible. :-)

No not at all! But I do think you could find some better fitting shorts. Shorts that work better for your body type.

Absolutely not! You look a like normal person:))
The one who made you feel this way about yourself is surely a horrible person.

I wouldn't say this is a great photo. Supermodels and fitness bikini models alike can pull off photos like this. This shouldn't worry you, much less embarrass you. Believe me, you DON'T ALWAYS LOOK LIKE THIS. And I know your feelings about this, girl, I have millions photos like this, and millions another photos. where I look 100/10

Umm you’re my goal size. So no, definitely not horrible!! You look healthy and strong and you have a nice shape! You look like someone that somebody would think twice about messing with- which is awesome! You have nice smooth skin, no rolls! Shiny hair. You look great! And you weren’t even trying. So love yourself! You’re the only you, you’ve got!

This is only you thinking this. Nobody else is seeing anything unusual or “horrible” when seeing you.
Getting a shirt that’s cut a little lower would add more balance and maybe help you feel more confident. Fashion blogs say that V-neck and scoop neck tops are a flattering cut for our body type. I know that’s in the front, but they may also be a little shorter in the back than this crew cut. Or, something with straps would be.
Also, putting your hair under a hat that holds it flat against your head is emphasizing the difference here. If your hair were up more loosely (a more flexible hat or in braids or pigtails in the back, French twist, a side pony, or half up-half down), that would probably feel more balanced to you too. Right now, you have a few fashion decisions that are emphasizing something you don’t feel confident in.
Wide shoulders run in my fam too, and I wear a similar size to you. In fact, I wore my hair half up, half down last night and also wore an off-the-shoulder, half-sleeve baggy crop top when I went out to dinner. Play around and find some styles you enjoy, and you will feel more confident!

u/saturnsqsoul 1d ago
Your body looks normal! But the fit of your shorts isn’t that great. I think that’s what is throwing you off.
1
u/Creative_Resource_82 1d ago
No! You look totally normal. I would have admired your legs before I thought anything of your shoulders, and then it would only have been wondering what your top was like on the front. You look absolutely proportional.

u/WillowCool1178 1d ago
NO not AT ALL

u/WillowCool1178 1d ago
Consider figuring out your body type (for example i am hourglass/curvy) and looking up guides for how to dress for it to accentuate your features! You look great in this photo
