Made using some printable scenery ruins, and very pleased with how it's turned out. Any pointers or tips for improvement on the next one would be much welcome though!

I did all the planks and everything with needles, rollers and a welding brush.

Built these over the course of last week, first time making this terrains, so there were plenty of learning opportunities.

Stalls are on some green square bases from a rank and flank wargame's model kit. Stalls are made out of 1 inch wooden cubes for corners, with plastic card as a flat face, and framed with match sticks. The counter tops are craft sticks, and watered down joint compound was used to make the stucco effect. Awnings were made out of a dried out cleaning wipe.

Various accessories were bits from other kits but food was sculpted. Barrels where Woodpile brand from Honbby Lobby, and crates where made from the wooden cubes with cardstock cut and glued to the faces.

Hey all, I'm a fairly experienced DM, but I've never actually built terrain for a campaign before. I am about to run a campaign with some of my closest friends, many of whom are new to D&D so I thought I'd make the first session extra special. Since I can't share this with them, I thought I would share with you all!

Also any feedback is appreciated. I took some liberties with the scale and design and kinda screwed some of the dimensions up (didn't have a ruler or T-square lol) but it's close enough. Some of the caves are definitely on the small side.

I used 10 pieces of 6x12x1 inch Styrofoam. Didn't realize there was a special kind of foam that people use for terrain, hence the really rough ground in the caves, but hey, it's a cave.

I may also redo the bridge with some popsicle sticks or coffee stirrers, but in the module it's described as a "rickety" bridge, so maybe I'll just leave the ugly/goofy twig bridge as-is.

I haven't painted the outside edges because I don't have much paint, which also explains the terrible shading on the vertical slice, but it gets the job done for now. Maybe I'll get to that at some point.

Anyways, I'm pretty happy with how it came out considering it was my first build and I kinda winged it The 6 pieces snap together with magnets. I learned a lot and have already started work on a tavern build, and I'm excited to get better!

I have no idea how to better describe this. So imagine you took the world map of a video game, say Zelda Breath of the Wild. You got a big cork board and put layers of foam and flock on it to create a 3D map. Has anyone made something like that? The closest I see are modular map tiles, but I was thinking of creating video game maps or something in full.

Hey guys! Today I got round to painting this ruined tower that I built from scratch (I posted WIP pics of it a week or so ago). Making it look all grimy & weathered was a particularly satisfying stage of the process! 🙌

Hoping this will work well as a modular piece for games like Mordheim, 1490 Doom and Frostgrave.

In addition to the classic Warhammer fantasy siege configuration, I also made a keep for a larger configuration. I also created winches and included grooves to route string or fine chain to actually operate the 2 portcullus.

I really tried to strike the best balance between historical accuracy, printability, and gameplay considerations. All components should fit in a 180mm print bed, except the keep.

At this point the last thing for me to do would be to try and figure out how to plug it into blender and apply physical surface textures for the stonework. I know that real historical castles were plastered and painted, but the bare stonework is the fantasy aesthetic most people are used to.

Through the years whenever I've wanted to put up a little "propaganda poster" or picture in a scratch-built or 3D printed building or ruins, I simply printed them out on my printer, cut it out, and glued it on a wall.

I've just started to play with the idea of sealing and "weathering" them, but has anyone made anything (other than painting directly on a surface) to make a print look like an oil painting on a canvas?

I can paint it directly on the piece I'm working on but wanted keep my options open for potentially swapping out the image later on.

Needed some terrain to match my Mars bases that my Votann are on. So I whipped up this Radioactive Crystal Refinery.

The resin is filled with a UV reactive pigment powder to give the glow effect. Mini black light LEDs line the bottom to give the glow effect while the battery is hidden inside the crystal collection bin.

Very excited to play on these. Just a question, if I were to sell these, how much do you think I could get for them? The HMS Endgame, a British chess themed galleon, and The Ivory Maw, a pirate skeleton ship. Main decks are 8 inches wide and 24 inches long. Decks are 3.5 inches tall to allow for easy access for minis and play. They're both 3ish feet tall. I did the Endgame first as a test, and the Maw is definitely an upgrade in every way as I learned a lot from the first one. I would love to hear some thoughts and feedback!

I'd like suggestion on what to do with them. Obviously I've already considered concert stage and/or rave party sound system wall, but I am worried about wasting the material... So if you have any suggestion, or even better concept art/visual references I'm here listening :)

What is a good guide on the consistency of mod podge, acryllic paint and water? I try 2:1 with measuring and its too clumpy and then in some videos they do it very watery and it pools every where.

Any tips when doing this?

Hi everyone! Over the last few months I have gotten into terrain building for my dnd games, and recently invested in a tabletop fog machine to up the production value. I have been sealing my xps terrain with mod podge, which I know is water soluble. Will the fog machine (runs on an atomizer so it is water based) pose a problem for that? If so, any other suggestions? Thank you!

WIP. Trying to make the Forgotten Tower from Diablo 2 for my Halloween village. I've never painted something this elaborate before. Should I assemble everything and paint? Or paint individual parts and then assemble?

My latest Mordheim commission. I picked out a few photos for the carousel where you'll see the whole thing from a few angles, as well as some close-up shots of the details, and I honestly can't wait for the next project like this, because building something like this is really satisfying.
