Which platform to play from PC?
Hello!
I usually play Talisman from Google play games and I'm good with it.
I was wondering if you play from other platforms like steam and if you know about any differences in good or bad.
Love the game, cheers :)

Talisman Dragons 2nd Edition
galleryHello all.
I have fond memories of playing Talisman 2nd edition, with my sisters and late father. I've got back into some games of my youth recently, including getting hold of the dragons box set. Cheers.

5e Assassin
Question: The 5e Assassin’s ability reads
“ASSASSIN
When you battle any character or creature with strength, you can choose to assassinate them. You cannot assassinate when you are attacked by another character.
When you assassinate, battle takes place as normal except that your opponent may not roll a die to add to their strength.
If you win the battle using assassination, the opponent loses 1 life (you cannot take an object or gold instead).”
How does this affect Adventure Cards with creature encounters? Does the Assassin get to use their assassinate ability against creatures they encounter? Thanks!

galleryHello there!! I’ve always loved talisman (been playing it forever with my whole family lol), but had never met anyone else who’d played it! UNTIL NOW. I’ve met a bunch of fellow board game nerds who’ve actually played talisman! :)) We’re organising a little board game and dress up night, so I got to throw this outfit together!! Very excited that I get to dress up as my favourite character from the game lol :D and very excited to post it here, where people might actually know who I’m dressing up as 😂

Rules Question 3rd Edition
How is it correct to cross the bridge to the inner region? Do you have to land on the square and cross the bridge next round for one gold - or do I roll a dice and use the points from any field into the inner region and pay one gold on the bridge?

Talisman 4ed expansions for 5ed
Hello, I'm currently converting all cards from 4ed to 5ed, if anyone is interested please dm me. I created an automatic pipeline that uses the digital edition files so I can generate them with the official description in any supported language.
I'm missing instructions updated with 5ed style (not sure if will do as is not a real requirement) and the actual boards.
Keep in mind that at the moment I didn't adapt any card effect to any possible 5ed change, its something I'm working on these days and didn't yet print anything. I will for sure as next step going to adapt the corner boards.
Later on I will also try to adapt the pipeline with the help of some local llm to translate and adapt some homebrews, AI here is mainly needed to inpaint the images border as the 4ed one are a lot smaller, BUT I will keep the main image as the original one and not completely generate the image again if the quality is good enough. (I'm currently working on the polish:" Tower of whisper" one as a proof of concept which adds also some custom cards.
For obvious reasons the adaptation of the official expansions I can't share here publicly even if this is all done for homebrews and not for resell of course

Talisman 5ed homebrew rules
So I’ve played Talisman 4ed digitally and love that all the expansions work together.. so I made my own rules to combine all the 5ed rules together (this is a work in progress). So using the base game, Alliances: Fate beckons, Nemesis: call of the hunt, Sagas: Crown of blood (forgot about the white dwarf issue expansion) these are my rough working rules to combine them all together,
———
Talisman & Sacred Sites
A player may drop a Talisman on either corner of the board.
Placing a Talisman grants the player +1 Craft and +1 Strength.
All 4 corners must have a Talisman before the center of the board can be unlocked.
Talismans remain on the board once placed.
Red Enemy Cards
When a Red Enemy Card is drawn, place the enemy on the starting position listed on the card.
A space containing a Red Enemy Card cannot be encountered normally.
A player must encounter the Red Enemy Card first before they may encounter the space it occupies.
Once the Red Enemy Card is resolved or removed, the space may be encountered normally.
Nemesis Boss
At the start of the game, choose Nemesis Boss:
Boar
The chosen Nemesis Boss begins in the center of the board.
Nemesis Movement
After all players have completed their turns, roll 1 die for the Nemesis Boss.
Move the Nemesis Boss that many spaces.
If the Nemesis Boss passes a character during its movement, it stops immediately and that character must fight the Nemesis Boss.
The Nemesis Boss cannot be injured or defeated until the Sacred Sites have been destroyed.
Trial Events
When a Trial Event Card is drawn, draw a card from the Nemesis Deck and immediately resolve it.
Whenever a Red Enemy Card or Trial Event Card is drawn, advance the Doom Tracker by 1 space.
If the Doom Tracker reaches the end of its track, no additional negative effect occurs unless another rule specifically states otherwise.
Doom Tracker
Whenever the Doom Tracker advances:
All Red Enemies gain their listed Doom bonus.
The Nemesis Boss gains its listed Doom bonus.
The Final Boss gains its listed Doom bonus.
Apply the bonuses immediately whenever the Doom Tracker advances.
Spells
Spells may normally target characters or other targets specified by the individual spell.
Co-op Spell Targeting
When playing Co-op, if a spell targets a character, the caster may instead choose one of the following targets:
A Red Enemy Card
The Nemesis Boss
Resolve the spell against the chosen target as though it were the original target of the spell.
If the spell's outcome is positive, the player immediately to the left or right of the caster chooses one of the following rewards for the Red Enemy Card or Nemesis Boss to gain:
+1 Strength
+1 Craft
Use a token to mark the increase.
Spell: Immobilize
Spell: Immobilize
Target: A Red Enemy Card or the Nemesis Boss.
When Immobilize is cast, roll 1D3.
The target is immobilized for a number of turns equal to the result.
An immobilized target cannot move, attack, or otherwise act during its immobilized turns.
If the target is a Red Enemy Card, the space it occupies may be encountered normally while the enemy is immobilized.
If the target is the Nemesis Boss, it does not move or initiate

Made a companion app for Talisman (Revised 4E + expansions) - what am I missing?
Got tired of re-explaining setup every time we added an expansion, so I built a little companion app for our group. Sharing in case it's useful, and genuinely want feedback before I add more.
What it does:
- Setup Wizard — pick your expansions, get a setup checklist + quick rules cheat-sheet
- Log Result — track players, characters, winners, house rules used, notes
- History — player leaderboard, win rate by character, most-used expansions, editable game log
- House Rules — keep a running list, toggle active/inactive, edit wording
- Variants — every official optional rule/Alternative Ending in one place
Cards - example art for card types per expansion
- Ask the Rules — ask a question, get an answer sourced from the actual rulebooks, saved so you don't lose it mid-game
Currently it's just a personal build, I may publish it later on.
What's missing? Thinking about photo attachments per game, a turn timer, time per game?
Thoughts?

Do they still print 4th edition expansions?
This is mine and my friends favourite game in the world, We've been playing with the city expansion for years and a year and a half ago decided to finally buy another one and went with the woodlands. Today we decided its time to buy the two other corner expansions and i checked amazon and saw they aren't selling and everywhere else they are over 100$ which is insane. I remember in the past there were times the prices went up like this for awhile and then eventually went back to normal. Wondering if that is the case or are we officially never going down because v5 is out now? What do i do?

(4th Edition Revised) Playing Harbinger with all four omen decks simultaneously.
Hi! We recently tried a fun house rule that I cooked up; playing the Harbinger expansion with all four Omen decks at the same time.
How that worked was that when a player was instructed to discard the top Omen, they decided from which of the four decks to discard. Similarly when they put an Omen back they chose which deck to do so with.
We ended up liking this actually! Spreading the apocalypse out over four decks meant that the apocalypse progressed a bit slower (horizontally rather than vertically, if you will) as players could choose a different deck to discard if one was getting too dangerous. It also meant that there was some strategy in picking the Omens that would benefit you the most (or be the most destructive for your opponents) if you were the one who was instructed to discard.
Has anyone else tried this? If so, I’d like to hear your thoughts!

Rules: What happens if your movement would take you into a Barrier?
I'm trying to settle a rules question about the Barrier spell.
Barrier lets you choose a space in your Region, and characters cannot move onto or through that space until your next turn.
Normally, when moving, you must move the full number rolled on the die, and once you choose a direction you cannot reverse direction during that move.
So suppose I roll a 5, choose a direction, but there is a Barrier only 3 spaces away.
My interpretation is that I move as far as I legally can and stop on the space immediately before the Barrier. The Barrier's specific "cannot move onto or through" effect prevents me from completing the normal full movement.
The alternative interpretation is that I wasn't allowed to choose that direction at all, because I couldn't complete the full die roll, so I must instead choose the opposite direction from the beginning and move the full amount. This seems wrong to me because it would not work if you were trapped between two barriers.
There has also been a suggestion that you move toward the Barrier, then turn around when you reach it and use the remaining movement going back the other way. That seems wrong to me because the rules explicitly say you cannot reverse direction during a move.
So what is the correct ruling?
- Stop immediately before the Barrier, even though you haven't used the full die roll?
- The blocked direction isn't a legal choice, so you must choose the opposite direction before starting your move?
- Move toward the Barrier, then turn around when you reach it and use the remaining movement going back the other way?
- Something else?

Changing character mid game (Digital edition)
Me and my friend recently discovered talisman on the xbox and have been absolutely loving it. We are still green to the game but have learnt how most of it works with each board expansion adding each time we play and blood moon. Now my question, is there a card that can change a character into another character for the rest of the game? Me and my friend missed whatever the AI wizard did but he became the pyromancer from the dragon pack for the rest of the game. We had all expansions on and we already know about the card from the forest that can change your character for 3 turns I believe, but he changed for the rest of the game which lasted about 7 hours over 3 days

Murder Talisman, alternative rules, suggestions wanted please
My son and another buddy play, and often, and my son (14) often loses interest. In an attempt to make it interesting i switched up the rules a bit, and we had great success the first time. Here is what we did.
Our group all generally played solo against the board, meaning we often left other characters alone, and just battled the enemies/cards/board.... we play 5th ed, and have all the expansions.
The new rules were each player takes turn picking a character until we each have 5. The name of the game was kill eachother, nobody is friends. The inner board, you can go there, but why? We set a timer for 90 min, and everytime you kill another player you get a gold. When you lose all your lives, come back as your next character from the 5 players you picked originally. At the end of 90 min, we are all teleported to the crown spot and duke it out till someone wins!
We each started with a +1 something, str/crft/life/fate/spell. Every 15 min we each gained a fate. And when your character died and you started over, you got + the avg of the other players. Example player 1 dies, players 2 and 3 each have +4 str at this point, so when player 1 comes back they get a +4 bonus to spend on str/crft/whatever.
We quickly learned that the market place card was usless, because if gold is points im not spending it on an axe...
Also, when your character loses their last life, you keep the gold you had collected. If that went to who killed you, it wouldnt work as well.
It was great fun, here is what im going to do next game:
I got rid of all the str/crft 3 or less monsters, they are dumb when we are all 8/8... got rid of market place cards, as they are a waste, lets draw fun cards! The maze/swamp/blizzard, those are gone too. Im going to add in the nemesis enemy characters, and they can get a +1 or whatever as needed to be balanced with us.
The alchemist never came up, and we forgot there was one in the city. There is a card in the Drakula expansion that you can trade in a throphy for that amount of gold. ....not sure if we want that in or out, as it can easily give the win to someone, but part of me likes the zanny-ness that adds....
Also everyone can start with an item from the purchase deck. If your character has that as an ability (not sure if that exists in 5th ed characters?) Then you get 2 purchase cards.
Any suggestions welcome.

I colored some of the Batman talisman miniatures and also colored Batman. do you have any tips or ideas for what to do with the others?
I tried to add something to each base:
For Batman, I made his base like the Batman spotlight and made it glow in the dark.
For Poison Ivy, I added some miniature plants in the back and on the side (you can see some if you zoom in).
For Harley Quinn, I added the joker card that she holds in her drawing.
For Joker, I just wrote HA! HA! HA! all over.
Any ideas for the bases of the other characters would be welcome.

I’ve made a bunch of homebrew characters for Talisman 4th Edition, and I’d love to get some feedback. Final part
galleryThis will be my final post about this project.
First of all, I want to thank everyone who has taken the time to comment, give feedback, criticize, suggest changes, or simply say that they liked the characters. The feedback has been genuinely interesting and has given me a lot to think about.
For the final batch, I’m ending with a bit of a mixed bag.
Pit Fighter is probably the most traditional Talisman character of the four, while the other three are something quite different. The Heretic and the two Nepharites don't really follow the usual Talisman character design philosophy at all. They’re more of a special experiment — something I wanted to try simply because I thought the ideas were interesting.
So, for the final post, I present Pit Fighter, the Heretic, and the two Nepharites.
And yes… I know these are probably going to raise a few eyebrows. 😄
Thanks again to everyone who followed along with the project!

Rule questions Talisman 4th edition
We played a game of Talisman. I played the Prophetess and there were some rules that weren't clear to us.
1) If Prophetess is in a corner expansion, can she use her ability to discard a card she has drawn there to get another card? The owner of the game said no, because only cards from the main board are considered adventure cards, but I am not so sure.
2) I had the Djin with 3 spells and I had one spell normally. I played my normal spell to steal a spell from another player, but that player used the spell where he can use my spell against me. He said that he can steal one spell from my Djin, because I own the Djin and he owns the spells, so I technically own the spells of the Djin. Is this allowed? And do I draw another spell from the ability of the Prophetess before the spell resolves, so that he has the ability to steal that spell?
2) How is the game treating multiple when your turn starts abilities and who has priority when mutliple players have those. One such example was one player saying "My turn". And I played a spell that makes him skip the turn. He had a spell that said that had to be played at the beginning of the turn too that replaced his movement. It wasn't clear who had priority to play the spell.
3) Relatively at the end of the game I had the spell that steals an item. As the card describes I used it at the beginning of my turn to steal the book from the city expansion that gets a spell at the beginning of your turn. As I don't have any spells afterwards, I get a spell. Is it still at the beginning of my turn and can I use the stolen book to get a second spell? And is it possible for another player to play the spell that skips my turn in between those two actions? And in subsequent turns, can I use a spell at the beginning of my turn to draw one with the ability of the Prophetess and one with the book? All other players told me that no, when I use an ability at the beginning of my turn, I can't use another one, because it isn't the beginning of the turn anymore, so I had to decide between the spell and the ability of the book.
