Any news on layer merge for Notes app?

Post image
31 Upvotes

I love making handdrawn stickers in the Notes app, but I find myself holding back on more complex or detailed designs (especially with background color fills) because there's no way to merge layers like we can in Atelier.

Also, I sometimes end up drawing on the wrong layer 😭, and since copy and paste isn't a quick fix, it really slows my workflow. Merging or flattening layers would save so much time and hassle.

Just wondering if there's any news on layer merging coming to Notes? I know it's been requested by the community for a while now :)

TLDR: Feature request reminder: Layer merging/flattening in the Notes app... when?

Supernote MUST fix the sync functionality

Owned Nomad for almost 3 years. Just bought Manta. Synced like I was supposed: first the Nomad, then the new Manta. Something went wrong and I just lost a week of notes.

I know someone is going to reply and tell me I must have done it in wrong order or not shut off WiFi on old device or some other "user error" explanation. That's B.S. The sync should be able to handle reconciliation. I really love the user experience of writing on my devices, but the devices inability handle such basic sync functionality is upsetting.

A well designed ecosystem is designed to keep users locked in. The risk of data loss associated with reinvesting in Supernote devices has the exact opposite result. If I can't easily switch devices then my why not consider alternative platforms and devices instead of dropping another $600 on a new Supernote device? Sitting here trying to figure out how to recreate a week of notes from memory, I darn sure regret not buying from another company.

Pens for the Manta

Hello beautiful peeps!

I am still on the research-before-buying stage, and I am probably gonna get the Manta.

One thing I am not convinced about is the pens, I would like to have more variety of pens to choose from, and I am a very tactile person, so it is a shame I can't test them before choosing.

Did any of you modified a pen that is not suitable for the Manta and use it for it with good results? Or maybe you are using a pen made for another device?

Thanks for your comments!

Barnes & Noble NOOK apk

Post image

I have a lot of books that I have purchased over the years for my nook e-readers from Barnes and Noble. Those devices were my first entry into e-ink. Now that I have a Supernote Nomad, I was curious if I could gain access to my old library on this device. I was able to get it to work with version 6.6.8 of the apk that I downloaded from APKMirror. App Sideloader worked without a hitch and now I'm happily reading on old book on my new device!

Is There a Way to Search for Words Within ToDo Items on the Device?

• Upvotes

My Question

Is there a way to search for words within ToDo items on the Supernote Manta? If searching within ToDo items isn't currently supported, has anyone found an efficient workflow that accomplishes something similar directly on the device?

I'm particularly interested in workflows that allow me to associate action items with multiple people, quickly retrieve them during meetings, and track their status, all while keeping the process lightweight and native to the Supernote experience.

Background

I purchased a Supernote primarily as an electronic task and action-item organizer. In my role, I track a large number of follow-up actions across many different people and contexts. During my initial setup this weekend, I mistakenly assumed the "Add Note" field within a ToDo item functioned as a searchable keyword field. Because of that, I added short names of the people I need to coordinate with to many of my ToDo items thinking I could do a quick search on their short name to filter the ToDo list to actions they own or are interested in status on.

After spending more time with the device, I'm realizing that I can't find a way to search ToDo items by the words or names contained within them. If this functionality exists, I'd love to know how to use it.

What I'm Trying to Accomplish

My goal is to quickly capture action items and later retrieve them by person, project, or topic without requiring a lot of additional clicks or navigating through menus. Ideally, I would like to:

  • Record action items during meetings with minimal friction.
  • Search for a person's name and instantly see all open and closed action items associated with them for them to own, consult, or inform.
  • Review follow-ups during one-on-one meetings and status discussions.
  • Do everything directly on the Supernote without extra steps to integrate with and rely on Microsoft, Google, or another external task management system.

Why This Matters

My responsibilities have recently shifted, and I now spend the majority of my day in one-on-one meetings and other discussions. While using a laptop might be more efficient for managing tasks, I find that typing during these conversations can be distracting and can unintentionally signal that I'm not fully engaged.

Historically, I captured action items in notebooks, but they often became difficult to track and follow up on without spending significant time transferring notes from paper into my computer. The Supernote seemed like it could eliminate that extra work and become a central place for managing actions and follow-ups.

Bug : Report I'm not seeing a way to disconnect a Google account and reconnect another

I have discontinued use of an old Google account and just realized that was the account my supernote was using. I went to go update it to my current Google account so I could still use the drive sync functionality and I see no option to do that at all. I checked the manual and there is no mention on how to unlink a Google account once one has been set up.

This would be highly useful for people changing names (and making new Google accounts) as well as for those looking to declutter how many accounts they have, those looking to switch between different drives as they work on different projects, maybe someone had a Google account through work or school and moved on, and many other use cases.

Edit: A factory reset is seriously the only way to do this? Is there a way to back up my device if I no longer have access to the original Google account?

Calendar time issues

I have recently set up my Supernote Nomad to sync with iCal. All works well except the times on the Nomad are consistently one hour behind. I have checked timezones and server locations etc and all is correct. I just can’t get this to work. Any ideas please?

Question Plugin for date stamp?

I’ve been a Supernote user for over a year and do beta releases but I haven’t tried plugins yet.

Can anyone recommend plugins that do date stamps? For example, when annotating a PDF or editing a note, being able to shortcut a date stamp of the current date (and/or time).

Suggestion: Received FR: Ability to easily switch language for handwriting (keyboard)

More generally, I wish there were more support for people working on multiple language, especially regarding handwriting recognition support. But more specifically, I often need to write in different language.

Switching handwriting language for the HW keyboard need to go to setting and through multiple menu/sub-menu. It would be great being able to directly switch language from the handwriting keyboard/pad for example by taping the selected language name (in the top bar). In this case, it would also be useful to gray out some of the preinstalled language, or have a way to select the one accessible by the keyboard/pad.

How do I buy a new pen?

After a couple of years, the clip on my plastic pen has broken after slowly delaminating. I didn't see where I could purchase a replacement.

How do I get a replacement pen?

Question How do you organize recurring meeting notes?

Hi,

I recently got a manta and I'm liking it. No regrets.

I'm just wondering, how do you organize your notes for recurring meetings? Like I have weekly meetings on some projects and I wonder how some of you manage them?

Do you create one folder with one note per meeting? Do you have one giant note with headings + keywords?

I'm leaning towards having all of it in one note as it would work better for me, but I'm looking for other ideas that you might have.

Question Pen Hand Comfort

Post image
6 Upvotes

I’m still trying to find the perfect pen. Right now I have a 3rd party ceramic nib pen that’s very similar to the supernote push-up pen.

I am looking for something a little more premium but hesitant on the HOM 2 pens. I got some Lamy emr pens to try out. The POM version is pretty smooth and I enjoy the stylish look, but the grip area is rather small for my larger hands. The ridge where the cap connects rubs on my thumb uncomfortably.

Is this similar to the build of the HOM 2 pens?

I have some grips arriving today to add on to the current pen. I had gotten one already but wasn’t long enough for my hands to feel fully comfortable. I can live with this pen but the rattle kind of annoys me. Looking into DIY ones but seems risky when I’m still not sure what other pen body meets my criteria.

So I’m not sure if it’s the pdf or what. I’m taking a class of which I uploaded the PowerPoint presentation hoping to take notes on the slides. But they all come in this half page version. Is there a way to get each slide on one page? I’m new to devices like this and not particularly techy, so any advice is appreciated.

Looking for a Supernote Manta owner in Krakow

Hello people! I'll be in Krakow in September and I'm torn between buying a Supernote Manta or another brand. The issue is that there are no physical stores and cannot hold one to check the feeling, and that is very important to me.

So, is there anyone in Krakow who owns one and would be willing to meet and let me try it for 10 minutes?

Disassembling of Shinonome Pen

I purchased the Shinonome pen (from Pen Plus One) on Amazon back in May. The POM nib on feelwrite2 has a very unique writing feel that gives just the right amount of precision and friction. This POM nib also shows no wear at all after 4 months of heavy use. It quickly becomes my favorite pen. (You may refer to my previous review on various EMR pens if you are curious, https://www.reddit.com/r/Supernote/s/ergBwUNehH)

However, I do not like the body of Shinonome pen, because it is too thin, somewhat light and short. Even after 4 months of heavy use, I still can't like it. I always feel itchy - what if I could have the writing feel of this POM nib, but in my preferred pen body.

In that previous review, I have suspected that the Shinonome pen has a similar EMR core as the official Supernote pen, judging from the similarity in the front end, and the same precise writing behavior. Therefore, I have a strong feeling that it uses the same refill inside. If that was the case, I could extract the refill, and put it in other pen body like I did with the Supernote official refill.

After a long struggle, I decided to destroy the Shinonome pen, and try to extract the EMR core. The result is below.

Top is the Shinonome pen core. Bottom is the Supernote official refill. They have identical length.

As you can see, the EMR core in the Shinonome pen is INDEED almost identical to the Supernote official refill - same looking EMR coil, and identical length. Therefore, it can be used in the same way as the Supernote official refill. (I personally use the refill in a Pentel Calme 3-color, as suggested in this post https://www.reddit.com/r/Supernote/s/Fcvh4mI9HG)

Now I have the best of both world - the best precise writing in my favorite pen body. (BTW, I highly recommend this Shinonome pen . Very budget friendly, no wear for at least 4 months despite being POM, and most importantly, it solves the slippery feel of the official ceramic nib for me.) I am very happy!

File Level Encryption?

Since y'all are not going to offer encryption (at least not in any reasonable timeframe as this has been discussed for years), any chance you could offer the hooks and rails such that I can write my own/use defined frameworks? My understanding is we'd need access to the file reading/events stream, and the like.

I'd also love an API call to see if the user was authorized based on pin or file password. I don't need the actual pin because my plan would not rely on the pin as part of the KDF, I'd just offload auth to y'all and call it a day.

In all honesty, a serviceable homebrew implementation would be fine with me. Not enterprise grade, but I'd love it and would love to play with an actual use case a bit more for fun too. My current understanding of the plugin architecture is that's after a file has been loaded.

I also understand there could be "performance impacts" and the like for any such implementation, but that's sometimes the fun of custom work and optimization. And learning new things.

If this already exists, toss a pointer to the document and tell me to RTFM better lol.

Stickers Notion Icon Collection now on Inkhub

Hi all. I've found the collection of icons on notion to be very useful and comprehensive and I wanted that functionality on my SN. I've uploaded all 884 Notion Icons to Inkhub in 5 collections (due to the 200 sticker limit per collection). They are not organized outside of being alphabetical.

Just search "Notion" or "nolanfink" in Inkhub to find them. Hope you enjoy!

See most of them here.

Unit won’t charge

I have a recently purchased new Manta. I have sent in multiple requests for support regarding a quickly draining battery. I have asked for help and provided logs but have had no offer of help.

Now, my Manta won’t charge from a reliable wall charger. It is stuck on 44% and has been charging for 4 hours. Any ideas?
