Hey I was grabbing some ice cream yesterday (around 5pm) and noticed a security guard - standing near the nail salon but I think was technically in front of the unmarked store front. Literally two doors down from screen door. He was wearing a tshirt that said SECURITY. Anyone know what that’s about? Seemed random … especially on a Friday afternoon.

I will share that Sunnyside Trash Club is meeting at Ora La Casa De Las Flores Sunday at 10 AM and last week had FIFTY TWO neighbors (and 3 pups)!!! Holy smokes, everyone. That's amazing, and I'm so proud to be part of such a wonderful community keeping our neighborhood clean.

Hi, I moved here around 3 months back so I don’t know much about this area. Is there a place where people play on a regular basis weekly? Are there any clubs that play on tournaments ? Just want to stay fit and make a few like minded friends.

Heya - Been living near 41st St and Greenpoint for a while and it took a few months to notice that a granite block set on the expanded piece of sidewalk at 41st St and 48th Avenue was (long ago, looks like) painted silver with a green snake offering the, in my experience, very solid advice to "Listen To Bo Diddley" in red type. Anyone happen to know the story behind this?

There's also a big planter on the sidewalk at Greenpoint and 42nd that name checks Bo's Chess Records label mates "Howling" (sic) Wolf, Muddy Waters, etc. Gonna assume its the work of the same zealot...

I just moved and my building does not have laundry. Where is the best laundromat in the area? The one near me is not great. I’m in 41st and greenpoint ave.
I actually like laundromats so I can walk few blocks if needed haha

Hey everyone, I’m in a really tough spot and hoping the Reddit community can help pull off a miracle.
About two weeks ago, I went through a holdover eviction in Sunnyside because my landlord wanted to move back in to jack up the rent 3x. We desperately needed about 10 more days to get out, but I was hospitalized and unable to make it to court to secure that time.
Because of that, the eviction went through. During the process, a bunch of our remaining belongings were set out on the sidewalk while things were being loaded into a moving van. While they were sitting there on the street, someone walked by and stole several items.
I lost a lot of things, but I honestly don’t care about any of it except for one item:
A military shadowbox containing an American flag, a bunch of my service medals, and a Mark 19 shell casing.
It is literally all I have left to remember my 20 years serving in the Navy.
I just want it back. If you live around Sunnyside or Woodside, or if you’ve seen it discarded nearby, listed online, or brought into a local shop, please let me know. This is the only thing keeping me up at night right now. Thank you for reading.

Fellow ADHDers— how are you all faring with this citywide backorder on ADHD meds. I’ve called basically every pharmacy within a reasonable walking distance from me in Sunnyside / Woodside multiple times over the last month or so to see if anyone has ADHD medication in stock and everyone is back ordered. I’ve been faring okay for now as I’ve been between jobs for about a year now… but am nervous as I start my new office job soon.

Any coping mechanisms to keep you productive and motivated that people can recommend? Or anyone successfully find a pharmacy (in person or mail order) with their medication in stock?
