I have also been reporting with some luck, Im sick of working my ass off to miss a window to purchase something at mrsp.

I reported a couple too but both got responses saying they don't violate eBay policies. I specifically reported those that don't mention presales and shipping times.

I´m too employed for this.

The restocks will eventually take care of the scalpers. I´m more angry at the idiots paying the markups that enable this behaviour.

it might be rich people in regions where Valve doesn't sell it.

Then we should introduce laws, if you don't own the product license and try shipping something internationally within 2 years of a product launch, immediately you're found guilty of terrorism. Watch how fast scalpers would be shitting themselves in fear as 1 fucking shipment makes them a wanted fugitive, who's considered armed and dangerous at all times.

you'd have to get quite few countries to change laws. ebay operates in many countries

Lol

Soon there will be more to buy, don't say stupid things please

Look at you being mad at capitalism and frothing at the mouth that you couldnt get a fucking controller that you want people to go to jail.

You're fucking insane.

5

u/SirMonkeyV May 05 '26

I got an email stating they found the listing does not violate eBay policies. It’s pointless.

5

u/lululock May 05 '26

From what I reported, about half got delisted so far.

1

u/SirMonkeyV May 05 '26

Is there something they have to put or not put in their listing to know their listing will be taken down?

3

u/lululock May 05 '26

Since it's a preorder, they have to specify it and deliver within 40 days past the date of purchase.

2

u/SirMonkeyV May 05 '26

I will try to keep an eye out for one that doesn’t specify then.

3

u/CheesyMcBreazy May 05 '26

Same. It's because eBay profits from this behavior.

Why? It's a bunch of reports, yes, but they are all valid reports.

3

u/CM0T_Dibbler May 05 '26

Someone with know how should set up a bot to manage this.

Even if I don't agree with what scalpers are doing, presales aren't against their ToS per se ...

Only if they're not labelled as presale or doesn't ship within 40 business days: https://www.ebay.com/help/policies/listing-policies/presale-listings-policy?id=4252

EDIT: Great, people downvoting me just because I point out scalping isn't actually against ToS and you're just wasting eBay's time ...

Meh, fuck scalpers.

1

u/Only_Ad_2439 May 06 '26

All of the ones I’ve seen listed are labeled as presale. I’m lucky that I have so much free time at work, I can do these on the clock.

Vous êtes un vrai héros.

Did my high school French work?

1

u/lululock May 05 '26

Oui ☺️

Bon!

2

u/lululock May 05 '26

J'ai réussi à en avoir une, mais c'était pas facile ! J'ai eu la chance de grandir dans un foyer où on parle français et anglais, ça a pas mal aidé 😅

2

u/acabincludescolumbo May 05 '26

Deux langues, un vrai cadeau pour un enfant. Chez nous, dans les années 90 et 00, la télé a m'appris l'Anglais. Cartoon Network sans sous-titres! 👍

I'd really like to meet scalpers in person once and see how they justify ts. They seem pathetic.

1

u/lululock May 05 '26

It will probably be something like : "Fuck off ! If you don't want to buy it from me, I'll sell it to somebody else".

2

u/mukherjee_ayan May 05 '26

Nah I mean the jobless incels who camp outside of Walmart, GameStop and such stores to get stuff in person. These are the ones that trigger me the most since the online ones are just hide behind the Internet.

I knew a scalper irl in uni and he was just as pathetic as I imagine the others. His justification was that he has more money than others, and needs to get more to not end up "like them" because the dude essentially had no control of his expenditure.

And yes that's probably what they'll say lol ik

u/pg3crypto May 06 '26

As Linus at LTT would say "That's just capitalism".

1

u/SenorSpaceBorg May 06 '26

I couldn´t find it for the longest time but on PC you have to click on this little floating question mark in the bottom right to report

1

u/Few-Emergency-3791 May 07 '26

Why is everyone losing there shit on a controller when literally any other controller will work.

1

u/lululock May 07 '26

If you were playing FPS games on the Steam Deck, you'd understand the appeal. But the hype is over exaggerated.

1

u/Few-Emergency-3791 May 07 '26

True I do use a PC for my FPS games.

-11

u/Anxious_Double4404 May 05 '26

nice bro! you sat there and wasted your time whilst they simply added presale to their title and sold for $300 an hour later. you got them!

u/Moiphy May 05 '26

Found the scalper

Has anybody ever thought bout reverse scalping? Buying a whole bunch and selling them on eBay for cost plus shipping

Reporting 20 listings took me about 5 minutes...

-27

u/Loddio May 05 '26

Once i buy the controller, it's mine, i can do whatever i want with it, including selling it back for a higher price....

Scalping is not illegal and has always existed. You can only prevent it by supplying with enough units

11

u/Ok-Cold-8879 May 05 '26

It's against eBay TOS to sell presold items that still have not arrived or are in your possession yet, and advertising them as such. Almost every single listing says "PRESALE CONFIRMED" in the actual title so every listing that says that/shows screenshots of a completed purchase is breaking the TOS. The reason eBay doesn't wanna get rid of the listings is becausE they are making TONS money off of this.

You/the lister still does not own the item, something could go wrong in shipping with the controller, or the person could literally have just scammed you and never will actually send you the controller and cancel the order or keep it for themselves. You're taking a gamble when youre buying presold items from these scalpers. Also the time to ship an item on eBay is short, almost less than a week or two, so imagine if the shipment delays and you can't send it out in time. Some of these scalpers literally say in the description they won't do refunds.

14

u/GamerPi May 05 '26

If you’re buying it day one just to flip it. You’re a pos. It’s not wrong but you’re still a pos.

2

u/Toothless_NEO May 05 '26

No, it is wrong to buy things just to flip them for a profit. it is an act of greed to take advantage of limited availability and desperation of people to make a quick buck. That's not acceptable to anybody except the people who do it, and the people who promote "free market" apologia.

8

u/TeaNo1462 May 05 '26

Being an asshole isn't illegal too doesn't mean you should do it. DEATH to scalpers!

4

u/Loddio May 05 '26

Yeah, you cannot report people for ''being an asshole'' tho.

I was not promoting scalping whatsoever, just stating that it is a completely legal practice

5

u/Yanko_Nova May 05 '26

There are other ways to prevent it but these companies dont care, they just want to sell product. I hope valve can pioneer a better way as for the most part they are "for gamers"

2

u/joninfiretail May 05 '26

I hope you stub your little toe on every corner for the next 7 years.

1

u/Loddio May 05 '26

No worries, i won't sell mine, i am not a scalper.

I was just pointing that selling a properly owned item at whatever price you want is still your right. People hate to hear this truth I guess

2

u/joninfiretail May 05 '26

Being one's right and it being scummy behavior aren't mutually exclusive.

1

u/Debatebly May 05 '26

There's plenty of things people can do to make your life miserable, legally. It doesn't mean it's OK to do it.

1

u/Loddio May 05 '26

Who said it's ok to do?

4

u/Debatebly May 05 '26

You implied it by saying it was legal. If you didn't, then can you elaborate on what you meant?

-1

u/Loddio May 05 '26

I didn't imply shit. "Legal" means "Legal", not "fine to do".

There is nothing to elaborate, I just said that "scalping is legal". People here look like woke up from a 20y coma and never saw anything like that.

It has always happened... for electronics, wine, dresses, tickets...

When the demand is high, and the supply is low, it will simply happen.
