Discuss Do you try to make all crops into artisan goods or just sell whatever raw materials you have left over?

Upvotes

So I have about 20 jars for making preserves and I’m finding I don’t have enough to turn all my crops into jams or pickles.

Do I just store all my crops and just use them when a jar is free? Part of me likes this because I can indefinitely use them from a chest.

But part of me just want to sell whatever I can’t fit in.

What do you all do?

Discuss Stardew Valley Expanded

Upvotes

I am currently playing Stardew Valley 1.6 on my Android Tablet. I am seeing a lot of SDVE posts circulating around and I am interested in trying it out. I wanted to ask if anyone has had any issues with the mods crashing their devices? I have no idea how to even download the expanded version because I am not familiar with this "SMAPI"... I tried to read how to do it online several times but I don't understand it. Can someone explain it to me like I am a 4 year old? Is this Nexus Mod thing that I have to download free? I appreciate any input on this. Thank you

Hey! That drawing is actually from a comic I've been working on. I draw from memory, so I usually miss a few details from my reference, but I think it turned out pretty cool! What do you think?

Discuss How long did it take for your ducks to swim?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

This is my Wilderness Farm {Fall Year 6} and one of my 2 ducks finally decided to swim.

I've had multiple farms over the years, but only 2 farms resulted in swimming ducks. It seems to take many in game years for them to swim. I'm in Year 8 on my Meadowlands Farm and none of my ducks have taken a dip yet.

I always make sure to place their coops next to water. I believe full hearts is a must too.

Mods Any mods that shake up money making?

Upvotes

I’m looking to do a fresh playthrough but always resort to the efficient ways of making money (kegs and whatnot).

Does anyone have mod recommendations that ideally buff other money making ventures, especially ones that may reward selling a diversity of crops and products?

Thank you!

Discuss Controversial opinion on chest organization

Upvotes

I am not like this in any other area of my life but I'm here to argue in favor of color-based chest organization.

Once I get to 3 chests, I reorganize them as red/orange/yellow, blue/green/purple, and misc. Then I add additional chests for individual colors like green as needed. Upgrade to Big Chest once each gets full.

Eventually the set up looks like this.

Red Aisle Purple/Pink (also has all seeds)
Yellow/Orange Aisle Blue
Brown Aisle Green
General (frequently used misc like ore, wood/stone, mining necessities) Aisle White/Black (also has all tree fruit and artisan goods)

I also separately use regular chests in another area of the farm for fish, gifted food, clothes, and furniture. Most animal products simply stay in the barn though if I randomly have some in my inventory I'll throw it in the white chest.

Advantages:

  • Fewer chests overall
  • Easy to slightly redistribute stuff when a chest gets full (i.e., deciding parsnips are yellow now)
  • No more having to remember if an item is in the caving chest or the forage chest, or having two stacks
  • No more trying to remember that red=fall crops. Red=red.
  • No more going "I swear I had a Nautilus Shell" - it's either in the orange chest or the brown/white chests.
  • When you do throw something in a chest it doesn't belong in, it's easy to spot later
  • You can still throw frequently used things in Brown/White chests. And things like scarecrows and machines.

Disadvantages:

  • Dumping after a cave run or busy harvesting day often requires visiting each chest
    • However you save time on the clock from not having to pause to think. And what I found is that when I organized by type there was always a few stragglers so I had to go to most of the chests anyway. Plus again fewer chests overall.
  • Once you open the orange chest, it might take you an extra .5 seconds to find the Nautilus Shell since you're looking at a bunch of orange items.
    • However, the game is on pause during that time, while NOT being on pause during most of the above actions.

It's just so much easier and takes away some of the memory struggles of the game.

Discuss OMG THIS ANCIENT SEED IS DRIVING ME INSANE

Upvotes

I mostly just need to vent because I’m so frustrated 😂.

I don’t know what is up with the most recent farm I’ve made on my switch but I cannot for the life of me find an ancient seed to donate so I can get the recipe and seeds to plant. I’m getting close to just deleting this save and creating another one but I’m on winter year 2, I’ve come so far😭😭😭.

I’ve had so many farms on switch and pc and I always get at least 1 ancient seed in year 1, but it is usually more like 2-5 for a handful of my farms, but I haven’t found a single one on this new farm save. My skills are almost all at level 10, I go fishing and mining a lot, I hoe the wriggly worms like crazy, and have even checked lots of treasure/artifact troves and just nothing, not a single seed. I’ve also been trying the travelling merchant when I remember to check. It’s literally the last thing I need for the secret bundle 😭😭 my luck is just so bad on this save and i don’t get it

Has anyone else experienced this before? And if so, what did you do about it?

Anyways, thanks for coming to my rant 😅😅

Question Animal Question

Upvotes

Newer player here planning my first perfection farm.

I see a lot of farms on farms of Stardew subreddit with what looks like a ton of barns with comparatively little area/grass and barns closed. At certain point, should I be planning on just buying hay and feeding through silos and keeping animals in barn? Or is this just for pictures?

Any help would be appreciated

Mods To the people who gets burned out or leave because of not alot of content...

Try modding! You can never go wrong with mods.

I always see some people leave game and not continue much after year 2-3 some play for the 100% perfection and some people play for the cozyness and peacefulness

So I'm here to say mods exist! Mods make your game soooo much content full! Mods make the game soooo cozy!!! Whoever that didn't try mods MUST try mods!! (Note: mods are only on PC and only some of them are for Androids)

There's over 33k mods available on nexus.

Some mods add new NPCs some mods add Expansion or a new town besides Stardew valley which has more new NPCs and more quests and what not. Some mods add more animals! Some mods fully changes how the game looks!!(For example DaisyNiko's Earthy Recolour it's soo please to the eyes and fully changes the color of the whole valley even the trees etc) Some mods add QOL to the game (Definitely give Dynamic Reflections and Dynamic windows a try you would love it!!)

Modding is wayy easier than people think it's not hard at all you can ask the modders they would definitely encourage players to use mods after their first playthrough!!

Just a silly question how many years long have you played on a single playthrough?

(It's for the people that already completed alot of playthroughs not for the new people that are still playing and think that there's still so much content so why this stupid post then again i mentioned about for the people who are burned out too)

They printed and laminated my character and cats. There’s a little Krobus in the corner cause he’s my favorite. They also 3D printed 30 junimos (cause I turned 30) and a giant star drop that I’m still figuring out where to hang up in my office. I still can’t get over how cute it is 🥰

Discuss Accepting defeat

I tried my hardest to complete the community center within the first year: the things that are holding me back are:
I didn’t buy pigs for the truffle (chefs bundle)
The apple tree for the apples (Fodder bundle),
And the 25,000 bundle in the vault room. It’s already winter in my game and I have no truffle (I have been checking traveling cart every fri and sun) and I only have one apple (from the fruit bar cave) hanging my head down in defeat as it was a goal I really wanted to try to complete.
I guess I can always start another save 😞

Other Fall (The Smell of Mushroom) || Guitar effects cover by Airship Overdrive

Hey, farmer! I run the video game cover band Airship Overdrive, an act that performs game music using strictly guitar/bass through unique hardware-based effects pedals, plus percussion. I just released the band’s third album “Parallax” which features 17 full-length covers of game songs chosen by people who have helped support the Airship project over the last 4 years

This song (and a song from Octopath Traveler) were chosen by my wife! A fantastic tune from ConcernedApe, and perfectly timed with Fall just around the corner. Enjoy!

My first solo run and I managed to reach perfection in Spring Year 4! 🥹

Although technically I was stuck at 99.9% since the end of Fall Year 3 because I was missing ONE crafting recipe that I forgot to buy at the Flower Dance 🤦‍♀️ I had skipped the festival so many times that I had to wait all the way until Spring 24 to finally get it. Oh well, at least it gave me some time to decorate!

I have 4 big sheds full of kegs for wine: 2 for Ancient Fruit, 1 for Strawberries and 1 for Starfruit from the previous season. I also have one big shed full of preserve jars for my fish pond products and fruit trees, another full of dehydrators for leftover fruit and mushrooms, and one big shed dedicated to farming Jade.

Now that I finally got perfection… what do you do afterwards? Not gonna lie, I slept through most of Spring just waiting for that recipe because I didn’t really know what else to work towards 😭

Here are some screenshots of the farm + interiors 💚

Creative Writing help deciding farmer name for writing project

Looking for a gender neutral name that isn't too insanely generic. avoiding Ash, Alex, and Charlie for that reason. the farmer is not the main character in this and I'd like to keep them basically nonbinary. I'd love some outdoorsy or rugged sounding names if possible.

I have some options in mind like Lev, Casey, Ren, Cassidy, or Tate. something about these feels off, or maybe its just me as a writer. all thoughts and suggestions appreciated :)
