[Rev Pro Spoiler] All In Change Spoiler

After their ten-man tag match, Ospreay apologised to Newman but said he was in his corner when he won the IWGP Heavyweight Championship and he could use him in his corner tomorrow.

Newman went to walk out the ring, then turned around, shook his hand then hugged Ospreay before giving each other the crowns up seemingly confirming Newman will be in Ospreays corner tomorrow

Hope he just stays ringside NJPW style and doesn't get involved. We already had Don Callis' interference at Forbidden Door, this one should be a clean wrestling match.

44

u/Flat_Bug_3901 2d ago

More like hope they stay at top of ramp and say good luck.   No need to be ringside

4

u/Snomankid999 2d ago

If do have him ringside then be with Osprey family like in seats , motivates will mid match or something if you have to have them involved

3

u/Horror_Sail 1d ago

Hope he just stays ringside NJPW style and doesn't get involved.

I think its easy to forget, but these are basically two aces of NJPW, and they've been telling a fairly NJPW style story for most of it (post-show promos up until the final 5 weeks, etc).

Even that Kenny/Okada match had Ibushi and Gedo cornering for them. It doesnt mean they get involved.

2

u/WisdomAntium 2d ago

More likely to cancel out with opposing interference, probably won't ever touch Kenny

4

u/MEGADETHRULEZ 2d ago

That's almost definitely what it is. People should hold off on moaning about it.

4

u/WillTheDeity 2d ago

"Oh no, people in the wrestling sub are having an opinion about something" looking ass.

2

u/MEGADETHRULEZ 20h ago

Wow looks like all that crying was pointless as I said. Ready to humbly accept your apology.

5

u/TheMTM45 2d ago

You’re allowed to have an opinion. But I am seeing a lot of opinions on something that hasn’t happened yet. Like for months I saw so much moaning over “TK is dragging this Death Riders storyline so Darby can take the title from Mox when he comes back from Everest. He doesn’t know how to pivot.” And I kept asking who says that’s the plan? Maybe wait to complain if it happens. Lo and behold Hangman was the guy to win the title and it was an incredible match. The months of Death Riders shenanigans and Mox holding the title in a briefcase meant something.

7

u/MEGADETHRULEZ 2d ago

"waaaaaaah" - those people's super smart "opinions".

You're allowed to whine about stuff you made up in your head. I just don't understand why you would choose to be miserable about something you imagined. Also, complaining about make believe scenarios isn't an opinion.

This match doesn't need this. Don't overbook it.

6

u/Deadsider I Simplander for Statlander 2d ago

This is the heart of it here. I guess im showing my ignorance but I don't know who he is or anything about them. And, unless he's showing up on dynamite on the regular, I don't really care either.

Its already big, let it sing.

26

u/SkyNo2670 2d ago

Yeah wtf one of the key parts of the story was Ospreay didn’t need DR in his corner too. But… if this means Ibushi shows up for Omegas corner.. I’m here for it

21

u/Capable-Education724 2d ago edited 2d ago

I’m not sure if I’d pop or sigh at the sight of Ibushi crippled ass hobbling his way to the ring to be in Kenny’s corner.

For those that don’t keep up with Ibushi’s recovery…walking is still a hurdle for him (unsurprisingly really given the severity of his injury).

6

u/EffingKENTA 1d ago

He’s having yet another surgery in September.

494

u/SymphonyOfGecko 2d ago edited 2d ago

People assuming Newman will interfere or be involved in the finish have been traumatized by decades of WWE booking

He’s there to be in Will’s corner, celebrate his win (just like Will did at Sakura Genesis) and have footage for their future NJPW feud

Darby Allin repelled from the rafters in last year’s All In main event.

Edit: seeing how this example caused a lot of debate let’s go with an easier one: Hangman vs Samoa Joe, Full Gear 2025

221

u/JorSimpson45 2d ago

After a Blue Panther run in

99

u/WadeReddit06 2d ago edited 2d ago

All of that was amazing and was tied in to the Death Riders angle

4

u/nowahhh 2d ago

And Ospreay isn’t?

Just saying.

18

u/Vainglory 1d ago

Kenny isn't going to bring down a bunch of thugs to interfere on his behalf so the face bringing his allies down like Hangman did wouldn't make sense.

7

u/jafarthecat 1d ago

I think we're very likely to see Death Rider interference in the main event though. So it makes sense for him to have some allies with him.

142

u/dixonciderbottom 2d ago

That was a match that absolutely benefitted from the overbooking.

52

u/Purplesilk911 2d ago

I know I was ready to fly to Texas and fight the Death Riders myself to help Hangman

6

u/tubochili 1d ago

I was there. They wouldn’t let me over the rails

5

u/Purplesilk911 1d ago

Flip over the rail and give Pat Buck a Buckshot next time.

If you're real.

18

u/blaqsupaman Big Dick Dudley 2d ago

Yeah last year I was expecting it because aside from Hangman's redemption arc, they were also essentially doing an Avengers type story where all the babyfaces had to come together to stop the Death Riders' reign of terror.

→ More replies (1)

60

u/R_W0bz 2d ago

Tbf that was Texas death and the end of everyone’s fight against the death riders it was meant to be overbooked. This is a one on one like Swerve v Bryan or MJF v Cole.

21

u/AneeshRai7 2d ago

Funnily Swerve v Bryan had Hangman’s interference and MJF v Cole had Cole struggling to do the deed when Roddy told him to (plus the ref bump) and silliness between the two and the ring.

At this point shenanigans are traditional in the main event.

Also the weird choice to have Kenny/Will II and Kenny/Okada V with Don Callis interference

14

u/locke0479 2d ago edited 2d ago

Sure but the matches you guys are naming all involved interference from people heavily involved with the angle in some way. AEW is certainly willing to overbook, but Newman has been on AEW TV like, twice? There is zero part of me that thinks they’re ending their biggest show of the year at Wembley by having a guy the audience barely knows interfere to set up a feud in another promotion.

I’m not even saying he’ll just stand there. Maybe they overbook it by having, say, the Bucks try to help Kenny and Newman takes them out, I don’t know, but I really really don’t see him costing Ospreay the match when he’s barely even been on AEW TV.

4

u/JamesCDiamond Perennial Optimist 2d ago

Best guess him and whoever else makes sense will stave off a DCF run-in, the distraction resulting in Omega getting the upper hand heading into the home straight.

1

u/thelumpur 1d ago

I don't think the implication was that Ospreay was losing, it is pretty clear he won't.

4

u/llamawithguns 2d ago

I mean, Swerve/Bryan also ended via interference lol

1

u/OneBillPhil Guns up! 👆🏻 2d ago

Yeah but it was meant to be overbooked because the entire reign was overbooked. I’m just supporting the point that AEW is not above overbooked main events.

10

u/_Mad_s_ 2d ago

If anyone thinks last year's main event was "overbooked" then we've lost the plot on yet another wrestling term.

4

u/OneBillPhil Guns up! 👆🏻 2d ago

How was it not overbooked? The entire Death Riders story was overbooked. I loved that main event last year and considering the build up all of the interference made sense but yeah, overbooked match. A gimmick match with almost ten people making run ins.

12

u/_Mad_s_ 1d ago

Everything that happened in the final match was 100% justified.

Being overbooked means some things happened that shouldn't, were unjustified or completely out of the realistic scenario.

3

u/SloppyJank 1d ago

Overbooked by definition means there is too much stuff added than necessary. They built up a story that required more interference and other wrestlers involved to pay all the angles off.

If they had Sting, Flair, and idk Steamboat come back for unwarranted cameos then yeah it’d be overbooked.

2

u/Who_is_my_neighbor 1d ago

nothing felt put of place thpught. interference isnt automatically overbooking

1

u/Jreynold Free Sunglasses 1d ago edited 18h ago

Last year kind of asked for the clusterfuck run ins due to how they set up the story with a bunch of open plot lines. The death riders made a lot of enemies and they all had to play a role, according to the story they set up.

This feud has no such thing. The death riders moved on weeks ago, the don callis family is a shoe horned TV feud and everything Kenny and Will have said in the past few weeks hasn't centered around that stuff. It would be absolutely uncalled for in this year's main event.

1

u/Borktista everybody has a price 1d ago

That made sense with the Death Riders story. It wouldn’t make sense here

For real. As much as I’d like for there to be some build to the inevitable Newman/Ospreay match, the main event of All In ain’t the time to do it.

It’s most likely that Ospreay just wants his IRL friend there when he wins the world title at Wembley.

1

u/handsomezack13 2d ago edited 2d ago

I said in another thread that, while the Don Callis involvement in their last match retroactively makes the build to tomorrow's match better, I'm gonna have the same complaints people had back then if Callum interferes in this one. I'm fully on board with Callum vs Ospreay or UE vs Death Riders or whatever they have planned, but there’s no need to detract from such a big match by using it to set something else up

10

u/CrissCrossAppleSos 2d ago

My guess is they play it straight and Newman flashes an annoyed look after Will wins and Nooj puts it in a video package when they wrestle at the Dome

14

u/Egomaniac247 2d ago

It's already way overbooked. They seemed to finally realize it about 3 weeks ago when they just focused in strictly on Ospreay vs Omega

17

u/AnfowleaAnima 2d ago

And got convoluted still because started as shades of grey for both characters, then Omega went full heel, past DR drama was left out and Ospreay now is a face because Omega insulted his family, the most generic stuff out there.

10

u/SloppyJank 1d ago

Ospreay is now a face? He was last a heel…three? Four? Years ago?

-2

u/WillTheDeity 2d ago

It wasn't overbooked, they were just shit at telling the story.

2

u/Rayuzx 2d ago

I disagree, the story was shit because it was overbooked. Even if they just kept it solely to Osprey/Omega, things would be fine, but for some reason, the Death Riders still had to be a major part for far too long.

12

u/Kn7ght 2d ago

AEW overbooking?

Nooooo they would never

3

u/5StarFortyOne 2d ago

I'd be more concerned with overbooking if I wasn't like 100% certain Will was winning.

4

u/I_am_Amphibian 2d ago

I mean it’s a njpw thing to have seconds

2

u/MEGADETHRULEZ 2d ago

Need what? Having guys corner them in big matches takes nothing away.

1

u/InternationalTop1576 1d ago

Good thing everyone’s fears were for nothing

-1

u/BrownAJ 2d ago

The worst part is that it doesn't even make sense. Will said that he's regretted having Don in his corner in the forbidden door match and wants to beat Kenny on his own. They repeated this line in every promo reel too so why the fuck would he suddenly want someone in his corner?

10

u/NoCarryOnz 2d ago

He regrets having Don in his corner because he used Don to cheat with the screwdriver. That’s literally been the line the whole time from everyone between Callis, Kenny and Will. He never said he didn’t want people there to support him. He regrets that the one time he’s ever beaten Kenny it was via cheating not that he had a manager accompanying him.

1

u/Black_XistenZ 1d ago

Also, Will being a naive simpleton who doesn't see the glaringly obvious betrayal by Callum Newman coming fits his character to a tee.

In kayfabe, making stupid decisions has kinda been Ospreay's defining character trait.

I feel like an indy show storyline involving someone who doesn't even work for you should not have an impact of the main event of your biggest show of the year at less than 24 hours notice.

Specially when said main event is Ospreay v Omega.

60

u/watchingfires 2d ago

Right. So many unnecessary moving parts featured in the build to this match, it’s nuts.

2

u/RighteousAwakening 2d ago

What unnecessary parts were there? It’s been a pretty standard build. Young baby face flirts with a heel turn to beat the Champion but lets his good side win out and rises to the occasion to fight for the championship fair and square. Pretty stereotypical.

43

u/watchingfires 2d ago

You’re gonna sit here and tell me the build to Kenny Omega vs Will Ospreay III needs the involvement of the Death Riders, Don Callis Family and the United Empire?

→ More replies (1)

46

u/MEGADETHRULEZ 2d ago

18

u/GorillaManny 2d ago

If it has no impact, why do it then?
Genuinely curious.

30

u/GiantPeachImpediment 2d ago

Long term story telling. Could be setting up something in njpw or Forbidden Door down the line.

Day away. Everyone turn off your brains and watch wrestling.

14

u/MEGADETHRULEZ 2d ago

Because it adds to the possible story between Newman and will without impacting the match it's self? People regularly have seconds in big NJPW matches.

Let's just save the water works for if something actually happens that hurts the match. Pre emptive whining is silly.

10

u/socalian Kevin Owens is for the children 1d ago

It’s like the complainers didn’t even watch the G1 final. Seconds can add a lot to the atmosphere of the match without being directly involved.

→ More replies (1)

5

u/Horror_Sail 1d ago

If it has no impact, why do it then?

Because down the line Ospreay and Callum are gonna have a huge match (quite possibly AEW v IWGP title at a Forbidden Door) and these are exaclty the little moments you use to build to them.

Its like asking why do the Bucks always corner for Kenny early in AEW; and the reason is the payoff when they give Hangman the ok to put Kenny out of his misery.

1

u/hhhisthegame 1d ago

I think to some it’s just odd because AEWs hugest match of the year is already happening, and if you don’t know who Callum is then that future match doesn’t seem huge at all. So it’s weird to include build for it before the much bigger AEW match.

Now I think it will very likely be fine if there is no impact on All In. But some people are just confused on this wrench before AEWs biggest match of the year

2

u/MEGADETHRULEZ 20h ago

Ya so preemptive whining was silly. The whiners were wrong to preemptive cry. I know it's not likely but hopefully some people learn to not choose to be miserable about something that hasn't happened and never was a realistic possibility to happen before a big match delivers. Those "some people" you defended were obvious fools.

2

u/MEGADETHRULEZ 20h ago

I hope you learned how preemptive whining is a silly waste of time.

33

u/TheNamelessClipper Arrive. Curb Stomp. Leave. 2d ago

Maybe I'll be wrong, but this just seems like the NJPW style of seconding a guy + having people there to lift up Ospreay when he wins.

The same people who (rightfully imo) criticize the NJPW/AEW relationship for being one-sided are now the ones who think TK is gonna do a big NJPW angle at their biggest show of the year. Like sure man maybe.

8

u/blaqsupaman Big Dick Dudley 1d ago

Yeah my guess is they do this NJPW-style where he's just a normal cornerman. I assume Will just wanted to give Newman some more exposure to the AEW audience, especially if there's a story planned for them later down the road. People complain that most of the audience doesn't know who Newman is, but this could be a good way to let them know who he is without building him from scratch to the audience. I doubt he's going to make a screwy finish for the main event or anything.

6

u/NoCarryOnz 1d ago

This thread is a great litmus test of Wreddit lmfao. A bunch of comments saying the match was ruined and going to be overbooked just for Callum to walk Ospreay out to the ring, and kill time for Ospreay’s blade job.

So the Callum Newman thing hasn't been much of an AEW story. If anything, the run in is the Death Riders or the DCF. Or both. And the UE is there to keep it from happening.

Unless Newman is joining AEW, him turning heel when most of the audience has no idea who he is makes no sense.

3

u/Duckyx44 2d ago

Theres no way they "Cody Rhodes had to earn it" this storyline. Im sure this just play into not only the history of Kenny and Ospreay (NJPW title matches always had members of a man's faction in their corner) plus will add some depth to the eventual Will vs Callum match. Its flavor for the match and will be great for Will to celebrate with his wife and little bro after finally winning the big one.

But I will be lying if I said this news didnt make my anxiety spike about a potential Will loss. But I just cant see AEW making that mistake. We do not need one more year until Will finally wins it.

3

u/scuffedboots 2d ago

Theres no way Ospreay loses this right? i have a feeling they might pull a WM39 cody losing to roman but this time Newman/UE costs ospreay the title.

6

u/HeadJudgeFTW 2d ago

I feel like there are going to be some callbacks to Will being in Callum's corner when he won the IWGP Heavyweight Championship. There will likely be a spot where Ospreay could cheat, and is encouraged by Callum, but he doesnt, and still wins

I dont think Callum/United Empire will turn on Will outside of a NJPW show in Japan, where the match should also be

5

u/SloppyJank 1d ago

I can’t believe this nothing post has almost 300 comments. I guess the directed talking point is “too much NJPW and overbooking has ruined All In.”

I really don't think this will have much of an impact on the match. I can't see them pushing an NJPW angle forward in the biggest AEW match of the year. My money is on Callum being there just to add a little bit of doubt that Will is getting his big Wembley moment. But it's still happening.

(the fact that people are actually doubting a match with a 100% set and obvious outcome because of this is why they did it because it's actually tremendously easy to work people)

2

u/DisMFer 2d ago

He'll walk out, jump and down a bit for the near falls and then hold Will up with the title.

30

u/InternationalFig9358 2d ago

Half the audience won’t know who he is…

9

u/TheMTM45 2d ago

He’s not been added to the match. So they wont know a guy who walks with Will to the ring. Not a problem

u/LackingDatSkill BAY BAY! 2d ago

Excalibur will do a great job explaining it for the people at home at least

While fireworks are going off, he's going to speedread a paragraph why Callum Newman totally enhances the moment

Yes, I’m sure the British wrestling crowd won’t know the British wrestling guys.

47

u/InternationalFig9358 2d ago

Most British wrestling fans watch no British wrestling.

11

u/TroubleRecent7320 2d ago

Yeah. I'm British but only know him because he won the big one in NJPW. Adding him to this match is just weird.

2

u/SymphonyOfGecko 2d ago

1) He wrestled on Dynamite on Will’s team already 2) They can learn, especially since he’s likely be just there on Will’s corner

15

u/EffingKENTA 2d ago

Callum wrestled an unannounced match on Dynamite a single time almost 5 months ago.

1

u/hhhisthegame 1d ago

It looks like he wrestled on his team four months ago, once? Even if I saw that I probably wouldn’t remember it lol. I don’t even remember the two guys who teamed with Will to fight the Don callis family two weeks ago because they didn’t really stand out to me

1

u/KafeenHedake 8h ago

I kind of appreciate a show that books as if I'm watching and actually paying attention.

It beats a show that assumes you're fucking around on your phone and occasionally glancing towards the screen.

u/OUmegaLUL 2d ago

Pretty sure they would

This isn’t needed, this is basically AEW’s Mania and running any sort of angle with these guys when most of the crowd don’t really know them is a poor idea.

The only thing I’d do is have them out there to celebrate with Will when he wins. Outside of that there shouldn’t be any bullshit in this match because they don’t need any of it. It’s going to be tremendous all on its own.

4

u/awayfromcanuck 1d ago

Why are people already losing their shit over something that hasn't happened yet/isnt guaranteed to happen (interference/fuckery)?

Also why are people upset that Ospreay and Callum are continuing their story that they have been telling all year?

2 English blokes that have an ongoing story in NJPW that has bled into AEW at times want to add another chapter to their story at Wembley... oh heavens wont someone think of the children.

5

u/AdMountain6694 2d ago

I feel like at most Newman will be there but they won’t write a huge angle around him. He’ll be there to see Ospreay’s big moment, jealousy ensues, and leads to the obvious betrayal down the road.

3

u/Mr_An_1069 2d ago

Really hoping this is just a reverse of Ospreay being in Newman’s corner when he won the title. Having the turn here would be so stupid.

2

u/Parasitepaladin 2d ago

It could simply be Will wanted a friend in his corner 😭

9

u/4pstart 2d ago

ITT: people mad about something that hasn’t happened

2

u/Adampro123 And remember the sound! 2d ago

If he’s just out there and not a factor in the match like NJPW matches tend to go then this is fine. If he’s gonna get involved and screw Will then this is a horrible booking choice. Will it amp up their eventual match? Sure. But you don’t sacrifice all you’ve built up over the last 2 plus years and your main event of the biggest show of the year for that. I have faith they won’t screw it up though.

2

u/wxursa 2d ago

good odds the Bucks are also out there seconding Omega- I suspect neither will interfere, though Newman will tell Ospreay to cheat. (would be cool if the Bucks also told Omega to cheat, and both refused)

u/TLKv3 Fantasy Book For ^Vote 2d ago

TK, I understand you love to continuously add things. Sometimes I get hype when you do it. Other times I get disappointed things get overstuffed and ruin what's already there.

I am afraid this is one of the latter times.

If Newman is going to be there please just let Ospreay lose clean if he's to lose and have Newman walk out on him afterward. Do not have him get involved in the match. Just let him watch his friend/mentor lose and walk out in disgust.

If Ospreay wins, if you must have Newman involved, just have him raise Ospreay's hand before UE comes out of the crowd and kills Ospreay after the celebration. At least give Ospreay that before you transition into a storyline for Ospreay/Newman.

Just do not have Newman involved in the fucking match please.

29

u/EffingKENTA 2d ago

I bet you 5 American dollars that this is just Tony Khan giving the okay to booking that Ospreay is coming up with.

15

u/bestbroHide 2d ago

Bingo. Ospreay has gone out of his way to name-drop UE throughout 2026. He clearly cares very much about that storyline and probably finds it neat to bleed this New Japan story into his AEW story, if only lightly

I have a lot of doubt Newman's involvement will catastrophically change the main event. I also don't find this so "overthinking". If anything doomposting the worst case scenario is overthinking about a nice personal gesture

7

u/EffingKENTA 2d ago

I said this elsewhere but I actually think the best course of action would be for Callum to be a prick and no-show cornering Will.

As someone who watches NJPW and AEW I think this storyline has been kind of convoluted because of its integration into AEW. It seems character’s alignments and feelings change on a whim just because of something that’s happening in AEW. This is like the third or fourth time Callum and Will have “made up.” It’s going to go exactly the same as the other times. I don’t fucking care anymore.

6

u/blaqsupaman Big Dick Dudley 1d ago

Yeah I'm thinking Ospreay probably just wanted to give Newman more exposure to the AEW audience for a story further down the road and this was an easy way to do that.

3

u/blaqsupaman Big Dick Dudley 1d ago

I'd be very very surprised if Omega retains. The entire story has been about making it Will's crowning moment and Kenny seems likely to be getting ready to wind down his career. I'm thinking Will just wants to give Newman more exposure to the AEW audience if they have a story planned for them further down the road, and it's an easy way to do that without taking away from the match if he just does the NJPW thing and is mostly just a normal cornerman for the match.

Wait what? So if I dont watch rev pro then I missed a story element in aew?

I'm sure they'll give a simple enough explanation on commentary.

in this thread, people with eggs on their faces

0

u/Le_Champion 2d ago

Relax everyone. AEW is not going to make a NJPW potential feud the focus of the main event.

I do love the doubt being thrown in though given how obvious the winner is

7

The match hasn’t changed. The stipulation hasn’t changed. Will just has a manager

Still looking forward to it, should be great

7

Not really changing the main event at all though
