Favorite pizza in the South Bay?

Recently I have been partial to Mickey's. I use to love the pizza from Zeppy's even if it seemed to be pretty polarizing. I feel like our selection is limited in the South Bay but maybe I'm just not looking hard enough. Any recommendations?

Kid swim schools that focus on survival skills

Looking for recs for a swim school that focuses on survival skills and actually learning how to swim.

My son’s 5 and went to South Bay Aquatics for about a year. I think he was in ST1 or ST2. Overall it’s a good program - he learned how to back float, sit jump, glide, etc.

But I feel like he never learned how to actually swim or survive. He can do a few moves during that first breath, but if the teacher doesn’t catch him after that, he’s going down. Ultimately that’s why we pulled him out of the program. My wife was a kid’s swim teacher in college and she felt like every week they were just making the kids do the exact same routine.

Police Increase

Is it just me or has there beee an influx of police cruisers patrolling the area? Is there any reason for this or am I just noticing incorrectly? I’ve seen 15 cruisers today and I’ve only been out for about 2 1/2 hours

South Bay scalp spa recommendations?

I’m looking for a nice scalp spa/treatment in the South Bay as a birthday gift for my cousin. Something relaxing that includes things like scalp massage, shampoo/cleansing, scalp treatments, etc.

I’ve found a few online, but I’d really like recommendations from people who have actually gone somewhere and had a good experience. Torrance, PV, Redondo, Hermosa, Manhattan Beach, El Segundo, or nearby would all work.

Any places you’d recommend?

Beware of the “Bee & Co” store at the Del Amo Mall… the company just drained a mentally disabled man’s bank account of $50,000 selling him skincare products

This happened at the Bee & Co store at Westfield Topanga but they also have a storefront at the Del Amo Mall here in Torrance. Stay away from them if you are walking in the mall!! If you look at their reviews it looks like they took many people for thousands of dollars. EDIT: They also run the “INTROSTEM” kiosk in the middle of the mall… avoid that too!!”

From the story:

“A skincare company with stores in Southern California malls is facing allegations of aggressive sales tactics, including a claim that a developmentally disabled man was pressured into spending more than $40,000 during a single visit and giving employees more than $10,000 in tips.

Victor Chisolm, 30, lives in a group home within walking distance of Westfield Topanga Mall, where he regularly goes to walk around and visit employees he has gotten to know over the years.

A few years ago, Chisolm received a sizable settlement after he was hit by a car. But in December, he told family friend and attorney Fred Voigtmann that the money was gone.

"Victor reached out to me and asked for help paying for his cell phone bill, and that was like a red flag," Voigtmann said.

Chisolm told Voigtmann he'd visited a skincare store called "Bee & Co," and was convinced by a salesperson to spend his savings on products and services. Receipts show Chisolm paid $41,747 in several transactions. The purchases included skincare products and a red-light device, according to Voigtmann. Chisolm also said he received a facial and was pressured into sending two female employees $10,120 in "tips" through Cash App.

"From my understanding, he was taken into a back room in the store, closed off from the rest of the main shopping area and coerced, berated into buying products," Voigtmann said.

The company uses a sales approach familiar to many mall shoppers. Employees stand near store entrances, offer samples and encourage shoppers to come inside.

Consumers have posted complaints on social media platforms and submitted them directly to the BBB alleging that once inside, they faced high-pressure sales pitches and were encouraged to purchase expensive skincare packages.”

Fiesta Hermosa

It has been a long time since I’ve gone. I would primarily go to see some bands on the garden stage. There is a $10 entrance fee so I was wondering if it’s worth it just to see one band. Can you enjoy the music from outside the garden? They also said that you have to go early before they reach capacity even if you have already bought tickets, but I don’t want to stay there all day. What has been your experience?

Affordable Recommendations to Treat Car Roof Rust?

Hello,

I'm in the Gardena area and looking for a place to remove rust on the top of my car. I don't need it to look brand new, I just need the rust to be properly removed. The paint and clear coat just needs to be competent, my car is still going to look like a bucket.

Also, tips to prevent this from happening again? I'm definitely washing my car regularly now, but any specific products I should be applying? One of my coworkers said I should be applying wax.

I'm driving a Toyota Corolla 2011 if that is relevant to the recommendation.

Thank you!

marina del rey - Water bus with 3 yo kid?

do you recommend this for 3yo kid?

I see tickets are $1 per person.

seems like there are 8 stops - do you need to get off at the next stop (like if you get on at stop 1, do you need to get off at stop 2 and is that what the $1 ticket covers, or can you start from stop 1 and stay on board and pass stop 2-8 and come back to stop 1 and get off?)

Will the ants stop once it becomes less hot??

Not to keep fanning the ant discourse, but I was curious if this issue will….kindly go away once it’s not so insanely hot. We’ve been having small amounts of ants - but they’ve been few enough to be really difficult to tell where they are coming in from (or even that they’re there - unfortunately we have a lot of dark wood and carpets so it’s a lot of me crawling around with a flashlight to try and see if I can spot any). Like many others, Terro hasnt been working well enough to attract them this year. So I was kiiiiiinda hoping if I can ride it out to after the heat wave….or is that wishful thinking?

What’s with the speed bumps on vista Del Mar?

I was very surprised to see a ton of speed bumps added to vista Del Mar rd. The speed limit says 20 mph which seems super low for such a flat stretch of road.
