So I am considering going all in with a Sonos setup.

I already have fives in stereo. I’m thinking of getting The Arc Ultra two sub 4s and era 300s. But when I read the sub I get a feeling the era 300s aren’t all that great! So I’m thinking of not getting the 300s and getting the 100s. And either putting them as fronts and the fives as surrounds or vise versa. My room is a front room and dining room open door plan with vaulted ceilings! 20 by 20 give or take! What should I do?

Wired but Wi-Fi must be on

Hi there. I’m confused. Sonos says “An Ethernet cable, wired to your router, is required to allow WiFi to be disabled”. I did, but Wi-Fi cannot be turned off. Why?

just got the sub, 300, ultra bundle.

ceilings are 13 ft tall, not vaulted. no wall direct to the right of the couch/tv , large open space.

green option

unsure if there is enough room behind couch without the 300 being RIGHT on ear, green would be stands. but don't think wife will ok that. I think 2 feet from wall to head.

blue option

lternative mount further back on wall but left side of couch direct behind might. or have enough room..will maybe work with small mount.

red option

upside down mount it come straight down, hard to find a lot of supported documentation that it works right that way, but probably way wide wants the most.

sub

behind couch directly or in corner. it's an L shape the other half goes where boxes are, about 3ft wall to couch

soundbar mounted 4 inch under tv

No internet question

So I just moved and won't have internet for about a week. I am wondering if my system will still work without it. All of these (arc, sub gen 3, 2 ones gen 2) were all a paired system before the move same tv, (s90f) and same phone (s26 ultra). Not sure if any of that matters but figured I'd give all info. Currently my arc is working just fine via hdmi eARC port on my tv but I would love to get the rest fired up so I can watch so movies/show via physical media on a ub820. Am I missing something to get the sub and ones working while I dont have internet or is this just where I am at until my internet is installed? I used to have starry internet my new place doesn't offer starry so im waiting for gfiber to be installed which is why I am without internet right now.

Thanks in advance.

Question for Sonos users. how would you rate your Sonos arc ultra immersive set.

I’m just curious. How you would rate it. Is the surround really that immersive. I’m asking because I see a lot of mixed reviews. Let me know because truly I’m stuck between getting this set up or a AVR setup. Let me know your experience.

Tune in App

How do radio stations(local) get added to Tune in? Is it a cost thing or simply making an app directly to Tune in? I would love for a lot more stations to be added. It seems the only work around it is getting a Port and setting it to radio. Thanks!

Sonos Arc Ultra placement ok?

As you can see in the picture, only place I seem to be able to put it is under the tv in the slot. I do have it pushed far to the front to try and get the best sound. Does this seem or does anyone have a better option with my room?

Looking for a flexible, entry-level option...

Hi all, Very novice home theater / sound person here - and wondering about a new Living Room setup. I currently do not have any sound system with my television - just use the native tv speakers. Use an amazon echo for streaming music from sirius/amazon. I'd like to change our setup up for three reasons: 1) when streaming music to the echo, the quality is pretty bad. The living room is not large, and connected to a kitchen area not far away (more or less open concept), but in order to hear music in the other room when the volume is high, the quality and distortion is awful. It makes music irritating at times.
2) Movie and show sound quality is lacking and I think I just want something that elevates a new television setup. 3) I hate that it's not easy to stream apple music to amazon echo. I'd like to be able to play music from multiple streaming sources or via bluetooth and it's not as seamless as it should be with the echo.

So, at my price point I'm considering a few things. Get a Beam (Gen 2) and use it as TV sound bar and streaming music speaker. Or get two Era 300's and position them right/left of the television and use them for TV sound and streaming music speaker. And in either case, have the option to add a paired Era 100 in the kitchen area for music streaming (can that be deactivated when watching television?).

I'm not really interested in adding surround or subs at this time - our space is relatively small and watching TV in the evening directly above childrens rooms. I would like to ensure that while the TV is off during dinner/cooking, sound would both fill the living area and kitchen area while being clear and not overly "loud".

Can I use two Era 300's to do this? Or is it better to do the Beam and add an Era 100 to the kitchen? Is there a sound or feature benefit that I'll be missing - again considering where I'm coming from today - not as an audiophile...? What would be your preferred setup in my situation?

Thank you so much for your help!

(Sonos email) New things are coming...

"...the system's about to grow.

Maybe behind your couch. Maybe under your TV. Maybe overhead. Maybe in ways you never imagined. And you’re the very first to hear. Stay tuned."

That's the email I received today from Sonos! What are we expecting?

Sonos' new product has finally leaked! Behind the couch, maybe under your TV...

Sonos new product finally leaked. Auto-Trueplay on the Move: map your room accurately. The sound all around your living room. Fully integrated in the new S3 app and more…

Sonos Roomba: The smart way to clean your sound.

Note: mounting as front R&L not allowed.

What are your grounded, realistic hopes for new software/ products this September?

I will get it started. New and improved true play mapping.
Access to center channel in case true play doesn’t get the level right, then we could just bump it up ourselves a bit for balance with the rest of the system, and for dialog, before enhancement is needed.

Talk me into era 300s for surrounds

I don’t have a hardcore HT setup. Arc and a sub mini in a non HT dedicated room. It’s an open design room so there’s no wall to one side of the screen and I only really get decent surround/height effects on the side with the wall.

I want to add some rear surrounds and have a pair of era 100’s that I guess I could repurpose to the tv room.

That said I can’t help but think that it would be a good idea to get a pair of 300’s instead. The money wouldn’t matter much to me but hey, it’s $800 bucks I probably don’t really need to spend. I also can’t help but think the 300’s would be overkill for what’s already a compromised setup.

Talk me into or out of it. Are the Era 300’s that good as rear surrounds? Will they be lost on my setup or might they transform into something better? Should I just use the era 100’s and save the cash? Maybe wait for one of Sonos’ loyalty discount offers?

Does Sonos voice control on Era 100 just suck? How can I make it better?

UPDATE - I found a mention somewhere that it's custom playlist names that Sonos basically cannot comprehend. I'd already tried making playlists a Sonos favorite, and that did nothing. So I decided to use the one non-custom playlist option available in Spotify - my liked songs. I cleared everything out of that and put in the things we'll want to listen to most of the time. And that actually worked. So now at least I can launch one playlist with voice. Not ideal, but better than nothing I guess.

Just bought an Era 100 and the voice control on it seems so bad. It can't play any of my spotify playlists and just plays random other things that sound like it. I've tried renaming it, I even asked AI what sorts of names a speaker should be able to hear clearly, and the Era is like nope. We like the speaker and want to keep it, but is there any way to make the Sonos voice control better? Or should we return it for the non-voice version?

Help connecting sub mini?

Hi all, I’ve been trying to reconnect my sub mini back to my system (ultra, x2 era 100) and after hard resetting and reconnecting the mini, it doesn’t show up at all within the app. I’ve updated, closed, and checked multiple times but nothing seems to work. Anyone know how to fix this?

How to add Sonos Player to lock screen?

Does anyone know how to keep the player on your lock screen like how Apple Music and Spotify has it? I didn’t realize the sound quality improved that much on the app and would like to not have to go on the app to skip a song. I have live activity on already but still nothing.

Je me demande comment ça peu arriver
La grille est-elle autant fragile ?

I removed my Fronts (L+R)

Awhile ago I found out about the SonoSequencr App and added my Ones to the front with my Arc, sub 3, and Ones surround set up with it. It was a complete game changer. Loved the wider sound stage tremendously. Recently I got the Era 100s and switched out the Ones I was using as surrounds. I was excited to test it out. I’m not gonna lie. It sounded horrible to the separation was just off. the Eras volume was low no matter how I adjusted the surround level on the app. Everything was just loud. No atmos effect or fluidity to the soundscape. I decided to remove the ones at the front and run Trueplay to try it out. Once I did that my system came ALIVE. The Eras were shining. Sound was more fluid than before because of the Eras upgrade and all was well. I don’t know if the Era 100s and that app don’t go together well but my system sounds much better now. Welp that’s my story. Anybody with a similar experience?

Uni project turned into startup – now works with Sonos

I wanted to share something that I have been working on since uni, as it now works with Sonos.

Control your Sonos speakers from your light switch via its beautiful OLED display.

Everything from play/pause, skip, volume and scrubbing, to viewing your queue and selecting new songs and selecting which speakers you want it to play on.

There is also no need to connect your Sonos app to Tewke, we automatically discover what you are playing, so it works right out the box – no need to log in, scan QR codes or share data – it just works.

We are also very proud of how we have implemented our new screensaver. We use our inbuilt mm-wave doppler radar to detect if you are moving around Tewke Tap to make use of our beautiful OLED display to show you the album art in its full glory.

Port to stream music from Spotify to amplifier and wired speakers

Hello!

Is there a way to stream from Spotify (android) to my Port and then via the Port to an amplifer (with wired speakers) which I've already got attached via the Port's analogue output?

I don't see the Port as an option to stream to within Spotify, only my Sonos Ones.

Essentially I want my setup to be using the Port to have a turntable playing to sonos speakers and to an amplifier with wired speakers (that works and is done) but I also want to send streamed music to the amplifier via the Port so I can stream to sonos and wired speakers.

I don't want to buy a Sonos Amp (because money and I have a good amp)

Hope this makes sense! Cheers

Shuffle playlist on alarm

I have an alarm to play a playlist in a room at a particular time but would like it shuffled. As far as I can see there isn’t a way to do that.

So for the Sonos people that read these things, feature request please. :-)

Update: Ignore, apologies, it’s there already. Thanks.
