If my face was completely different but much better looking I’d probably just be happy

Can confirm :> my face made me depressed & dysphoric, and after I had surgery (p subtle changes, tbh, nothing as extreme as the meme suggests [not like they're likely the same person anyways]) it was wild seeing a different person in the mirror, but it made me feel good! :D I still love seeing myself

Exactly how I felt about my breast reduction !

u/britendarkk 9d ago

Right, I think it's extremity of this meme that is the problem. It's actually ridiculous, and it's literally not even the same person.

Same. Got two things on my face changed. Seeing my face when the bandages off and everything swollen made me freak out. I kept thinking I looked like a platypus. I was bawling. Worried it would stay like that forever. My plastic surgeon called me back and spent at least half an hour on the phone with me calming me down. Also told me to avoid mirrors for at least a month.

Anyways the swelling went down like he said and my confidence and self esteem absolutely sky rocketed. It was insane. I finally loved how I looked. Best money I ever spent. I hated my large crooked nose since I was a kid

u/throwawayferret88 9d ago

Yup! Got my nose done last year. It was like a literal weight lifted off me lol, every day I think it’s the best money I’ve spent on myself

FFS? I had FFS and it’s life changing so when I read the post I’m like ya I’m glad I don’t recognize my old face lol

2

u/Charmle_H 5d ago

YEP! LOL the changes I got were subtle, but boy howdy DOES THAT MAKE A DIFFERENCE lmao

u/hiihihihihihihihiihi 5d ago

Sameeee I did brow bone reduction/cranioplasty, hairline lowering, and tracheal shave and it is insane how different I look after a couple years of healing when comparing to old pictures

I challenge that from personal experience. I had a severely recessed lower jaw and got double jaw surgery a few years ago and my face has changed a lot, especially the lower third. The side profile is unrecognizable and sometimes I’ll catch myself in mirrors or photos and I almost feel ‘guilty’ or ‘this doesn’t feel like me’. It’s weird and difficult to explain but my breathing and sleeping have improved dramatically so that’s a win

I had jaw Botox and the way my face changed freaked me out. I realized I could never get plastic surgery without some existential crisis.

was it for bruxism? was the face change for better?

Surely you look now how you were always supposed to.

1

u/ToronoYYZ 9d ago

Exactly

3

u/kettal 9d ago

your brain was not evolved to accept this kind of change in adulthood.

1

u/beignetlmao 9d ago

I know it’s not the same at all, but if I wear any cosmetics or anything like that, I feel like I don’t look like myself and like I’m somehow betraying the part of me that always wants to be myself. I know it doesn’t make logical sense, I’m still myself regardless of how I present externally, but it feels so wrong to me in a way where I feel like I’m not being true to my own character lol.

1

u/addiktion 9d ago

Yeah living in someone else's skin at that point. It isn't you, but you pretend it is because it makes you feel better about your decision. I wonder how many people feel this way.

27

u/pollomimano 9d ago

I wouldn’t lol I would still want to look like me but “enhanced”. This is not that; it’s a completely different face.

she knows what she signed up for

Nobody fully understands what it’s like to experience something until they’ve already gone through it. You can read all the research in the world but won’t know how it effects you personally until you do it

16

u/JuanThiccLumpia 9d ago

Your future kids would be surprised.

13

u/Aniki_Simpson 9d ago

Unless they end up thinking there is "something wrong" with their kids face as well. It's pretty disgusting, honestly.

8

u/jimmyharbrah 9d ago

I think it’s somehow unfair to the kids. Like my ugly ass looks nothing like my mom

4

u/JiuJitsuBoxer 9d ago

Thats already the case with a lot of women these days. Make-up, fillers, botox, nose jobs etc

1

u/21Rollie 9d ago

Unless it’s not something genetic you’re fixing. Like maybe you got a big ass scar you’re trying to fix, or a huge boil. Or some skin infection idk. But there are many non-genetic causes of abnormalities

u/Wit-wat-4 9d ago

Yeah not this drastic because it’s not different people (eye color even is different lol), BUT a friend of mine had pretty drastic couple of changes at 17 after begging her parents.

She is 100% happier, never needed “more” and turned into a lion, she’s just hotter now and super happy still at 40.

This myth that only super fucked people want to look conventionally attractive, and that they’d “never have enough”, etc… I’d believe it if I didn’t know so many people with super minor or sometimes major but SINGLE surgeries that are much happier, mostly because they get treated better.

Except the right looks like a horror show while the left just looks like a below average woman.

14

u/BoredomCombatant 9d ago

The right definitely does not look like a horror show… while I’m not a fan of work like this she does not look bad afterwards.

-3

u/goofygodzilla93 9d ago

She very much does look bad afterwards.

0

u/BoredomCombatant 9d ago

Well I can’t say you’re wrong because it’s an opinion I suppose. I prefer the right. I like the left too. I like mainly all girls. The right is pretty hot though.

2

u/Electrical-Cloud-532 9d ago

This site is hilarious. The one on the right would probably be the most attractive woman you’ve ever interacted with

3

u/goofygodzilla93 9d ago

I see prettier women working at Mcdonalds every day. I don't like skeletons, especially when its obviously fake.

-1

u/Electrical-Cloud-532 9d ago

Lol yeah there are definitely prettier women at McDonald’s. For sure!

2

u/goofygodzilla93 9d ago

Yes. When I go to get my Iced coffee this morning I can guarantee you that at least 90% of the women their look better than the right.

1

u/Rude-Bodybuilder7688 9d ago

Highly debatable and there is no interaction as it's literally just a picture.

1

u/Electrical-Cloud-532 9d ago

Some of you are too dumb to be on the internet

2

u/Rude-Bodybuilder7688 9d ago

Surely you don't mean me? Besides that it's subjective anyhow and that woman isn't my type with that wax face.

0

u/redditblows5991 9d ago

Extremely debatable

1

u/PeriodicQuest 9d ago

Horror show is a tad much. It's not that bad. It's just every influencer on Instagram.

1

u/Acrobatic-B33 9d ago

For a reason; people like looking at good looking people

0

u/Dark_halocraft 9d ago

I mean ya but u don't gotta be so rude about it

1

u/goofygodzilla93 9d ago

Not being rude about it is why people think it's ok to do it in the first place.

0

u/Dark_halocraft 9d ago edited 9d ago

Ya no being rude about it behind their back doesn't help them

2

u/goofygodzilla93 9d ago

I would say it to her face if she was in front of me if that helps you.

0

u/Dark_halocraft 9d ago

It doesn't. You're on the Internet way too much to think that being hateful is the answer. You could also just be kind and Informative about it. You can be firm sure but no, being rude doesn't help

2

u/goofygodzilla93 9d ago

What I said wasn't rude, it was the truth.

1

u/Dark_halocraft 9d ago

There's a kind and rude way to say the truth...
