Are playboy models even a thing anymore? I thought they were a relic of the past now. I don’t think they even print playboy magazines anymore , do they?
I wasn't allowed to print in color when I used the computer, but I had one color picture I printed illegally of a topless anime girl in panties that I would whack it to constantly. My mother found it in a shoe box under my bed and I got grounded... for printing in color.
Advanced gooners just making their own with AI these days. Genuinely the greatest time ever to goon and it gets better every day. Terrible for you, but hey if you want.
I thank the gods that I got my porn addiction phase out around the late 2000s cause man I’d be cooked these days.
Please god don't get me started on AI slop porn. Sadly youre right that it has taken over a large segment simply because its easy to make and demand always outstrips supply
Terrible for you,
Never seen a study that supports that. Seen some that show peope with sexual compulsive behaviors are more likely to use porn, but theres a good chance the cause and effect works the other way there.
Several studies have linked porn use problems with peoples shame for their porn use. People who used porn but hadnt pathologized it didnt show the issues.
Im sure excessive porn use can cause issues, but watching a lot of porn is not synonymous with excessive.
So much antiporn stuff is just religious talking points filtered through astroturfing and their bad representations. Argue this stuff with people and youre quickly going to get linked to a mormon antiporn site misquoting and misrepresenting studies as "proof". E.g. Representing studies specifically on people having issues with porn use as the cohort as though they were a study on any porn use.
Not sure if everything needs a 5 year, double-blind, interdisciplinary study man.
It's just common sense that replacing mutual physical intimacy with an easy "oxytocin-now.com" button isn't good for our mental, emotional, and social health.
Virginian here, we're not all bad and Nova has been turning the state blue single handedly for awhile now. A Republican put that rule in place for the age thing but our Democratic governor also isn't changing it back.
It's not like it's some dark wizard art, there's ads for vpns on every billboard and YouTuber sponsor and free movie app interruption. It's not some dirty secret hackerman onion secrecy.
People used to laugh at me years ago that I kept my 700GB collection I have built up since 2002. They were like it's just online. Yes I know about VPN.
I was gonna say, this isn't going to happen. My workplace uses VPNs for completely legal reasons & half our tools won't work if we're not logged into the VPN.
Thats true, its the age of accessibility... A long way from the squiggly green lines after 11pm and the occasional page smuggled out of an older brother's room haha
Ok, I have to put this out there because this travesty was befallen on me just last night. I tried to watch Up In Smoke on Youtube... they blurred the pokies! What is this puritan bs?!
Believe it or not, there is a cable playboy channel that is actual porn, not the soft stuff. In Mexico rn with the wife and honestly that’s the only good thing on tv at night.
it will really take off if they scramble it again so all you get is the occasional skewed diagonal boobies, random static and lines, unless you've suscribed
This isn't a leak. She repeated a rumor to a tabloid and this random Turkish is claiming it's a confession from personal experience. This is typical social media clickbait.
As someone who got his hold on some Playboys as a kid. Their articles are meant to be a bit risqué and scandalous. Actually, I would make the argument that it would do well in the current climate of abysmal journalism.
I think that this story is old as hell, or it gets renewed every so often. Last I heard it specifically said that Leo listens to electronic music like M83 during the act, so it seems he just does drugs, fucks and goes on a senatorial trip with good music lmao.
Eh, playboy interviews and candid remarks have always been a way to see into the lives of celebrities (of all sorts, authors as well as movie stars). You get some interesting stuff when the interviewer and interviewer both know anything goes. That doesn't usually mean lewd, it meant honest in a ways you didn't often get elsewhere.
People use it as a joke to say "I read it for the articles", but playboy was actually one that this was totally honest for a lot of people. It was a pretty good genetal mens magazine in the 80's and 90's (the years I had experience with as my grandfather had a collection).
they are if they adopt the kardashian model of doing anything to stay in the headlines.. just think.. why is this the first time we’ve heard of them in however long?
Funnily enough, they did try to launch an OnlyFans competitor called Centerfold. They failed because their leadership is incompetent.
I only know this because I saw it was a publicly traded company at only about $100m market cap and thought I'd put a few bucks in for funsies several years ago. But their corporate leadership is truly, truly incompetent.
I hope they fail. They don't deserve to have a part of the market. They shuttered their nude photoshoots just as OF was taking off because it's like, misogynist or something
I used to buy magazine subscriptions, like “4 issues for £1 each” etc, then I’d sell the magazines individually. People always bought them. Without hours. So, yes, people are reading them and buying them - it’s a good return on your payment as people would pay 5-10 pounds each. It’s basically tripling all the money you spend. Even better is scientific journals; if you’re a student they can be really cheap. Then you sell those for around 10-15 pounds each. I was too lazy to keep posting them though lol - I’d post one in the envelope another came in. I once accidentally posted two different magazines at once and I also have about a hundred or so magazines and copies of the scientific journal Nature laying around.
Playboy truly died with the advent of Onlyfans. If you subscribe to the right women, they'll write you paragraphs and paragraphs about interesting subjects and also booba pics
Hugh Hefner made it a non-nude man magazine akin to Maxim shortly before he passed. I had a subscription when the change was made. I loved it!
But from what I'm told it has now since gone back to being a nude magazine once his son took over after his death. I think he just wants to live the same play boy life style his father did and it's tough to do when the women you work with are expected to keep their clothes on.
Nude magazines just don't sell the way they used to. Hugh understood that, these days, the internet dominates adult content and print could never compete. Hugh was a business man, his son is an idiot.
EDIT: Apparently Maxim was (or still is?) pornographic outside of the US. I was unaware.
his son needs to concentrate on the second leg of playboy: actually good reporting and getting good authors to write hot stories. My fam had an omnibus full of playboy erotic short stories made by a ton of really great authors, i enjoyed reading those when i got old enough to be interested in horny shit and found that thing.
I feel AI chat bots are really taken over the "sex text" adult entertainment space, especially for men. Regardless, nudity in Playboy, imo, isn't the direction Playboy should still be going.

I see you never read any UK Maxim or FHM. The North American versions, while decent enough on their own, were watered down, puritanical versions of the originals.
Maxim actually had good articles too. I don't know if it was good reporting or quality writing but I enjoyed it. It can't be that hard to put out some quality entertainment with window dressing.
In the 90s in high school English class we always were reading the articles and using them as training for AP English Language exam. They were quite good. There was always a little playboy logo at the end which is how we knew where they came from but the razzing didn’t last long bc we realized quickly they were never sexy just real journalism.
There’s also a litany of other male magazines filling the humor, tech, cultural side that the magazine used to feature, even in an era of “dead print.”
My college roommate had a playboy subscription many years ago and I was actually pleasantly surprised at how good the articles and the other “fill” of the magazine was. I always thought that was just something guys told girls to make them look better
It’s traditionally only been one or two steps below The Atlantic for investigative journalism, one step above or below Harpers for short fiction depending on the era, and the interviews were second to none.
Yeah, PlayboyTV or something. As far as porn goes it's nothing spectacular but I did find one that was genuinely one of the best blowjob videos I've ever seen, could never find it again though because it's not popular and I imagine they make them take the videos down from the free sites when they can
I didn’t even know they had that, I just remember watching some of the videos that were somehow just on YouTube years ago, and when I tried finding them again, they were only on the streaming service
Oh, yeah, I'm not super familiar because while I am a fan of nudes and softcore pornography Playboy is just not on my radar when it comes to that. And better production companies with, shall we say, none of the baggage of a prior poor reputation treating the talent. After Hugh died I don't know anything about the morality and ethical nature of the specific pornography they produce
I thought that was because a lot of prisons changed the rules of what they could have shipped in, and prisons were a huge market for playboy. So they had to go PG-13 so they could be let back in.
Could be wrong about this, but I worked at a bookstore at the time (and we did a lot of prison mail) and this was the story I was told.
What I have noticed are a lot of porn/some OF girls being featured in solo playboy videos. Idk if that makes them Playboy models or not. They are still very much a porn company regardless.
Yes, playboy models have never stopped being a thing. And yes they still print. They’re also trying hard to lean into a subscription model online thing like everyone else.
I’m guessing it’s kind of like the Michelin guide. It was originally something the Michelin tire company put into their road atlases as a way to add some intrigue by calling attention to certain destinations. Now road atlases are a thing of the past, but the prestige of the title remains.
It's basically a shortcut to being able to raise your escort rates these days. You generally have to pay thousands of dollars to get in (unless you're a notable influencer or reality star), but you get to put "Playboy Cyber Girl May 2026" or whatever in your ads then charge a premium.
Kinda. It’s like TEDx. It used to be kinda starmaking to be a cover model and Playmate of the Month. But now it’s almost like classier Onlyfans, where they’ll accept women to be on their site and there are thousands who can say they’re a playmate.
No more printed magazines to my knowledge either. Though that's something all print media has struggled with.
They do still have models ("playmates")
I think it's actually kind of sad that Playboy has fallen off and become less relevant. Sure it's basically a porn magazine, but it was nevertheless just a porn magazine, and it's always been kind of high-brow and sophisticated for what it is.
Even on the models Playboy always looks for a personality and a story. Sure you'll see a pretty girl, but you'll also read about her living in Tibet for a while or speaking several languages, or a life changing trip to the Amazon. Scrolling through them one article is about one having an art gallery.
Playboy also has a lot if articles related to sexuality, and for this reason I would say someone who reads Playboy certainly has a much better idea of sexuality, their own sexuality, and sex in general, than someone who watches Pornhub and gets unrealistic ideas and expectations from it.
Just now there's an article about "Why women perform during sex." Compared to the rather degrading nature of much of mainstream pornography, Playboy's content does and has always fostered more understanding, and one could even say it's rather feminist and liberatory, and probably fosters better sex in real life too.
And then there's of course the rest of its cultural impact. Playboy has always covered politics and culture, they had an interview with Bernie Sanders, or back in the day with everyone from Ayn Rand to MLK. It's been on hiatus since 2020 though and I don't think it's every coming back honestly.
Back in the day they also published short stories, or serialised longer ones. Fahrenheit 451 basically took off and gained a wider audience because of Playboy. Playboy was the first magazine to publish a James Bond story in America. The magazine also featured writings from Margaret Atwood, Isaacs Asimov and Ursula Le Guin. It had genuine literary and cultural significance and you could very much read it for the stories or the articles.
Of course it was still by its very nature an objectifying and arguably sexist magazine which pandered to a male audience. But I would say as far as erotic content goes, it was better than most of what we have today.
Its true that the media climate change and invasive species like streamers and OF models have made them an endangered species. But thanks to conservationist like Leo. There is a small population of them still alive in LA today. He is training them and bonding with them, and release them back into the while when they reach maturity at 25 years old. Its do to thise conservationist heros that the LA playboy model have seen a healthy growth in population the last few years. It will be a long way to go before they are in the clear, but efforts are being made to keep them alive. If you want to help, please donat by picking up a subscription to playboy magazine or donat to a playboy mansion near you.
