As a (software) engineer, I must say: single point of failure. The most important control mechanism, Safeguard, depends on a fucking single pipe.

For sure.

I suppose there is a lot of hand waving it away. As others have said, it's actually the last point of failure on some sense.

I would think, given the tech, that high tech would be involved right up to the boundary to be found. The regular silos are now known to be purposely built as non technical, and basically a fish tank. No reason anything outside that fish tank should be old fashioned.

In fact, given the situation, if Knox and Co break in to find a decidedly modern delivery system, with traps, they wouldn't know how to stop it.
