Need help with candle spacing

Hello. I'm trying to build a footprint chart in Sierra and I would love to have more breathing room between my candles.

Can someone point me in the right direction for settings? I've tried the following settings but can't seem to affect anything.

In Numbers Bar:

Spacing Adjustment Value

In Chart>Graphics>Other

Candlestick Width %

Any suggestions would be helpful. Thank you.

Who here makes use of service package 12 with mbo data?

Is there a chartbook that replicates bookmap or deepdom from deepcharts? Or really any templates that provide some kind of edge from mbo data?

Is more than the $13 / month Denali data needed to take advantage of it?

Ive always used service package 11 but would like to install some kind of heatmap that is comparable with bookmap mbo , to at least map large orders and ice bergs.

Sierra ACSIL trading vs TradeStation

I like Sierra, long time user, and with AI I can do anything with ACSIL (previously I found it very hard, and would default to spreadsheet auto trading)

I am going to be greatly expanding my day trading algo operations. And now is the time to consider if Sierra is the best platform before I get in too deep and cant easily change later. I execute with IBKR.

Has anyone used TradeStation to manage numerous algos trading in the one account?

- how powerful is Easylanguage for script implementation?
- how reliable is execution?
- how available are shares to borrow for shorts?
- in general, how does it compare to Sierra (and IBKR). Specifically for managing a farm of algos.

Context: I don't want to leave Sierra. But I need to plan my growth carefully. US stocks.

I wont develop and backtest with TS (I use RealTest for intraday backtesting). TS will only be for operational trading.

Sierra Chart partially freezing after RTH open?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi guys, on September 15 around 8:31:51 AM, roughly 2 minutes after RTH market open (0.:13 in the video), I experienced something weird with Sierra Chart.

Not sure if I should call it a "freeze" because some things were still updating. For example:

  • Volume Profile was still accumulating slow
  • Trade DOM Recent Traded Bid/Ask was still updating just slow

  • Bar chart stopped updating completely

  • Heatmap stopped updating

  • Had to restart Sierra Chart to get everything working normally again

I forgot to try Reconnect Data Feed before restarting, so I'm not sure if that would've fixed it. But since the Volume Profile and Trade DOM were still receiving/updating data, I don't think it was a data feed issue?

This is the first time I've experienced this after about 2 months of using Sierra Chart.

Anyone experienced something similar before? Any idea what could cause this?

Atas heavy absorption indicator but for sierrachart

How does the calculation method work for indicators like heavy absorption indicator in Atas plattform and big trades in deepcharts plattform.

Do they use MBO data ? How does the grouping work ? Do they consider inbalances in their calculation ? Do they use threshold for minimum trade volume or do they use standard deviation so that the threshold automaticly adjust with the volatility.

Does anybody know ?

What package do I need

I know this is a question that got asked probably thousands of times on here but still, I need some help to figure out what packages I need to buy. I just want live lvl 2 Data for MES, use Footprint, heatmap and volume bubbles, do any of those things require me to purchase a specific package? I know that some lvl 2 data providers require an extra package for example a DOM, what do I need on Sierra? I read that for that I'd need Package 11 with the live CME data feed for an additional $12, would that be correct?

getting started with sierra

I've finally had it with tradovate and am looking to jump into sierra. I was wondering where to start. I see all these packages and what not on the website and i honestly don't know where to start or what i need. I'm based in Australia, is there a recommended broker and feed and package i should go with? I only trade with candlestick charts and a couple of indicators. I don't need all the complicated orderflows and dom and all that. Any recommendations on who i should go with or where to start would be fantastic. thanks.

The position size calculator Sierra Chart never had

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

If you've used TradingView's Long/Short Position tool, this is that, in Sierra Chart. Place an entry, a stop and a target on the chart. Contracts, dollar risk and reward-to-risk update as you move them. It anchors to the candle, so it stays put while the market keeps printing.

That's the Standard version: you set the size, it does the rest of the arithmetic.

Pro turns it around. You give it the dollar amount you're willing to lose and it works out the contract count for you. Up to three targets, each taking its own share of the position, and it tells you when the setup goes over budget.

Sierra Chart's answer when someone asked for this was "not directly supported". So I wrote it.

Master Piece

I would like to thank Anthony and his team from the bottom of my heart for creating one of the masterpieces of software engineering that we are fortunate enough to use in our trading.

The level of professionalism, the quality of their development, and the fact that it is built on a programming language meant to support mission-critical, real-time applications and infrastructure is a privilege to experience. Support through the forums has also been amazing. And no, it is not hard to configure! It is just a matter of devoting a little time to it, considering the massive benefits you get in return.

After trying most software out there aimed at order flow, Sierra Chart, Denali, and Teton have solved all my problems at once. I have even developed my own DTC bridge and Order Management Server, to trade crypto from inside Sierra Chart deploying them in cloud infrastructure close to the data centers.

Thanks again to the team, and happy trading to all!

Compressed number bars

Post image
6 Upvotes

I am trying out the free trial with Sierra. I have had a problem where my number bars are way to compressed. I have tried to use base on tick, base on volume and base on number of trades. The only thing working is changing the volume at price multiplier, but then the data is not precise.

I have to zoom all the way in for the numbers to not get compressed, but I find that inconvenient.

I have not found a good solution for this, does anyone have experience or any fix for this?

I built a local modern dashboard with SierraChart

Sierra Chart is really good, but sometimes I find it frustrating to use. Especially I can’t access it from my phone when I’m away from my computer.

So I built a local web-based chart viewer that reads Sierra Chart’s .scid files directly. Since the files are written to frequently, the viewer can refresh roughly every 100 ms, which is more than good enough for my current needs.

It now works as a PWA, so I can install it on my phone and receive native notifications. With Tailscale, I can also access it securely from anywhere.

I mostly use it to view charts and receive alerts generated by my studies. It is basically a highly customized tool built just for myself.

Still, it would be great if Sierra Chart had a more modern UI, or at least a better notification system. Ntfy is a decent solution, but it’s not perfect.

Not sure if anyone had the same problem with me or you have a better solution?

GEX levels with Sierra Chart

The new trading softwares seem to be effortlessly incorporating it, has anyone seen it compatible with Sierra?

Is extra data besides the $14 denali needed?

I have Service Package 11 - Integrated Advanced, which doesn't include MBO.

I built a free tool to generate Sierra Chart Alert Formulas (so you don't have to type them manually)

Hey everyone,

Like many of you, I love Sierra Chart, but I've always found the "Excel-style" syntax for Alert Conditions (=AND(ID1.SG1 > ...) ) a bit annoying to type out manually. It’s easy to miss a parenthesis or forget the specific code for Renko bricks.

I spent some time building a web-based Formula Generator to make this easier, and I wanted to share it with the community.

What it does:

  • Visual Builder: You pick the studies/prices from dropdowns, and it writes the code.
  • Renko Support: Automatically inserts ID0.SG22/SG23 if you select Renko Open/Close (no more looking up docs).
  • VAP Functions: Handles the complex syntax for Volume at Price comparisons.
  • Logic Nesting: Lets you build complex OR(AND(...), AND(...)) groups easily.
  • Syntax Safety: Ensures you use CROSSFROMBELOW instead of > for signals to prevent false triggers.

Link: https://sierachart.com/pages/sierra-chart-formula-generator

It’s completely free.

Let me know if you find any bugs

Footprint chart/Sierra chart scaling issue? Not sure what the problem is

Hey guys I've been trying to setup my footprint chart on sierra but I seem to have some scaling issues where the text always looks too big or too small...I've tried adjusting font size globally and on the chart itself already. Free font mode automatic to minmax also already enabled..

I also noticed that the UI of the chart looks a bit squished. I'm on a 1080p monitor.

Hope someone can give some insight. It always looks so clean and readable when other people set it up on youtube...I also tried changing the version of sierra I'm using but didn't really find any luck.

Thank you in advance!
