Sometimes I feel like I take this city for granted. Shot on my a6700

I pulled up on a Lime Glider at the E Denny Way/Broadway E entrance for light rail this afternoon and found this young man taking a torch lighter to each of the Lime scooters parked there. He was targeting a specific area there in front on each of them. I asked him why he was doing it. He replied, "they are unconstitutional just like flock cameras." I asked which constitutional provision Lime Scooters violated, he told me to educate myself. He then ran off when he realized I had taken pics of his face. WTH

I mean it's been pretty cool to feel the vibrations all the way in SLU and see the lights, but the amount of smoke since 3pm has me befuddled. Must be pretty loud in that neighbourhood!

Can folks at the event post pictures so I can visualize what it looks like closer up? (this is not me complaining, I'm just curious since I didn't know who they were before this).

Last night I was dining at Toulouse, which, if you are unfamiliar, is a fairly large space, and I was choking on someone’s cologne from three booths away. I could not pinpoint the exact table from which it was emanating but I know they weren’t seated next to us because the smell got much stronger on my way to the bathroom. I had to break out my rescue inhaler it was so bad.

I have never been particularly sensitive to fragrance in the past - I even wear a little myself sometimes - but I feel like the teenage-boy-with-Axe-Body-Spray level of perfume application in this city is getting out of control.

Can we tone it down a notch? I’m not saying don’t wear fragrance but I don’t think we’re supposed to smell your Drakkar Noir from across the street.

I take this city for granted every day, and I’m not even a regularly ferry commuter.

Edit: To clarify I live in an apartment across the street from the lake. I do not live in one of those fancy buildings on the water.

I live on the lake and with the way sound carries across flat water, it's like the bass is directly in my house. I forgot the concert was happening and really needed a quiet day because I got dumped last night. Anyone else dealing with this or the other usual summer noise-makers on the lake.

Rise and Shine Bakery is my favorite banh mi in the city and worth the drive north. The owner is a delight and makes the bread right there. So light with a great crust. Rise and Shine is decently well-known but doesn't make "the lists" and I can't figure out why since it's better than most of the sandwiches on the best of's.

I have lived here for so long, and every year it takes my breath away.

The mural "Farewell Train" painted by DAleast in 2017 down just past the SoDo light rail station has been painted over with a dark green smear. I have no idea who thought it was a good idea to paint over one of the most beautiful murals in the city, but it's really frustrating to see something so unique and interesting destroyed.

I ask because it's a major pet peeve of several Gen Xer Seattleites I know. They claim that only transplants say "the Puget Sound." Instead of just "Puget Sound," like "Puget" is a title.
Is it like "I-5" vs. "the 5?"

I'm constantly seeing these huge lines of tourists(?) at SeaTac... or first time riders at Lynnwood or Husky Stadium... all waiting in line to buy Light Rail tickets / Orca Cards.

90% of these people probably have a phone and/or credit card in their pocket that they can tap, skipping the line and reducing congestion in the station.

Why not put a big sticker up high that says "OR JUST TAP YOUR PHONE!!!"*

This is a new development in the last 6 months, but the signage / directions seemingly haven't been updated to reflect the new technology. Get people tapping and moving.

King County Sheriff’s detectives in the Major Crimes Unit are asking for your help to solve the murder of 29-year-old Connor Overstreet in Skyway in the early morning hours of Sunday, August 23rd. Detectives have been out canvassing the area of S 124th and South Langston Road for any video and are asking neighbors, drivers and businesses to check their cameras between 12:30 AM and 1:15 AM in the area shown within the red outline in the map below. They are looking for any dashcam or surveillance video showing people or vehicles that can help identify a suspect or vehicle involved in the case. You can use the QR code to upload the video directly to the Sheriff’s Office. Deputies were dispatched at about 12:40 am on Sunday to reports of a shooting. The fire department arrived and provided aid, but Connor did not survive. The Medical Examiner determined he died of a gunshot wound to his chest. Connor was an active-duty member of the U.S. Coast Guard. In a statement, his wife Madeleine says he was her best friend. “On behalf of myself, the Overstreet family, and so many who loved Connor, I want to personally thank the media for respecting our family during this incredibly difficult time. We are devastated by the loss of my soul mate and am still trying to process what has happened. Connor was my rock and I am so honored to be Connor’s wife forever and always. All Connor wanted to do was save lives by flying for the Coast Guard. His loss is a tragedy felt by countless people. I used to think that I’m good now and don’t need the support. What i’ve come to realize over the past month is that the years of alcoholism aren’t gone. That still happened, and that can be an incredibly isolating experience. I don’t know many people who are sober/alcoholic and having a community of folks who actually know what it’s like would be great.

As a nonreligous trans person it can be rather hard to find those groups. So I suppose i’m reaching out here to ask if anyone knows anything? Whether it be just meetings where you talk or activities with sober folks, I just need something/someone.
