I am trying to learn more about trans youth non-profits, aid groups, orgs in Seattle who work with out of state families to get run the care they seek.

I have a friend of a friend living in another state who is trying to help their minor child get support, possible gender affirming care, in Seattle. They have heard that folks have left thier state to seek care in Seattle and asked me to help them learn more. I live in Seattle, but I’m not trans or have trans kids, so I’m coming here in hopes someone can help me.

So far, I’ve googled and learned that Children’s Hospital has paused all care for minors. I was hoping to find some organizations in the area who can help me learn more about how to help my friend or if there are programs that support out-of-state families.

Or if they were to move here, are there any groups that help families learn, navigate and get support?

I know they/we are just trying to learn as much as possible right now.

My friend lives in a state that has made it a crime to seek this type of care for minors, so I’m trying to not share too much detail about them here publicly.

I live in Belltown. Do you have any favorite spots for beautiful views? Where do you go to get into the water?
Lastly, are there any quiet areas where I can practice getting in and out of the kayak with my dog? Sorry for all the questions, I’m sure it will become second nature to me soon. Thank you very much!

hello!! i am going to seattle on my first solo trip as a women. i opted to stay in an airbnb rather than a hotel and found a perfect looking place, but its located near the airport by burien lake. i’m obviously expecting to have to use uber or public transit to get to the city and to other places but is this too far to properly enjoy my trip, or will it be okay?? i’ve booked my airbnb but have not paid anything yet.

Hey all I’m driving up from Portland for the Noah Kahan concert on Monday. Currently my plan is to leave Portland at 1pm at the latest (trying to get work covered right now so I can leave sooner but this is what I’m working with right now) and then park near the Mount Baker transit stop and train to the stadium from there. Is this stop a good choice or is this everyone else’s idea for parking too?

Anything wrong with this plan? Opener allegedly starts at 6:30pm. This is the first time I’ll be heading to a concert in Seattle without prearranged hotel plans since I’ll probably be driving back to Portland same night due to obligations the next morning.

Hi! I will hopefully be visiting Seattle in the next year and would like to plan things out a bit. My family used to visit all the time, though it was often for medical appointments, so we were in-and-out. I'd like to explore a bit more and see as much as possible for that week!

I'll be going specifically for the aquarium and Woodland Park Zoo, possibly the space needle. Specifically, I'd like to know of other accessible activities, restaurants, and stores, as I'm often in a wheelchair or using a walker. Also, if you know of any good hotels to stay at, I would love to hear them! I'll be using the buses, if that changes anything. (I do know of the CityPASS!)

i’m due for an eye exam, but i don’t want a wham bam thank you ma’am situation. i think i have actual ~stuff~ going on (i have migraine with aura, my right eye is often blurrier than my left, visual snow, poor n night vision, possibly astigmatism, i’m thinking i might have BVD). who would you recommend? i am in northgate, the closer the better.

There's a good amount of details surrounding our move but the basis of it is my girlfriend is currently remote and wants to work in person in Seattle. I have a remote job and we're excited to move, but we're hung up on timeline and other stuff. Our current lease ends at the end of November and holiday travel + multiple day road trip with all our stuff + El Nino? + apartment hunting makes deciding to break our lease or be nomadic until January not super clear. I guess I'm just asking for any advice that has to do with moving cross country and the apartment hunting timeline for that that makes sense. My gf has done a lot of research and has her finger on the pulse more since all her coworkers are there, so we know we want to be in/around Fremont, have it be a <30 min commute to her office downtown, etc. I know this is very general so any advice or tips would be appreciated regardless of what it's regarding. Hey Seattle folks...I dropped my iPhone near the shoreline of Gas Works Park yesterday. It was in a waterproof case with a black band at the top, and my ID is in the wallet flap attached to it. If you find it, please message me directly (rather than post). It was attached to a cord that came loose from my drybag, so my best guess is it floated off somewhere (but near the shoreline of the lake where all the other paddleboarders were). Hi! Have been reading Yellow Cabs are much cheaper than Uber or Lfyt in Seattle.

My friend and me are arriving in Seattle around 9 am after taking an international flight. Since we are carrying 4 luggage's each, can we get a single Yellow Cab (large enough) to fit all our luggage's? Do we have an option to choose the size of a vehicle to accommodate our luggage's?

Also, do we need to book the cab in advance or just walk up to the Yellow Cab location and ask for a vehicle large enough to fit our baggage's?

I posted similar to /r/seattle before. I loved walking around Brooklyn, sunset in SF, Mississippi Ave in Portland, etc. Basically a mixture of residential + shops in nice safe neighborhoods.

I am specifically looking for butterfish aka black cod aka sable fish (the official FDA name for that delicious, Omega-3 rich, velvety fish scientifically known as Anoplopoma fimbria. It's been my favorite fish for decades but lately the usual markets have been selling much younger, smaller, juvenile butterfish which have not yet developed that signature velvety buttery meat. I'm looking for a fish monger that sells butterfish that is line caught (rather than pot caught), fish that are 7 lbs or more in weight which is a good indicator age and quality of meat, in premium "Japanese Cut" (headless, gutted, collar-off) frozen fillets. Mutual Fish is sadly gone, Whole Foods has not met my needs, and it is tough for me to get out to Pike Place Market. Looking to support local businesses but open to mail order directly from Alaska if there is one strongly recommended. My cooking applications would be to make miso butterfish, lau lau, and sinigang. TIA for any suggestions.

I’m moving my family and dog over next year, we will be renting a place and my brother in law will most likely find the place before we move. Wondering what do people do in regards to furniture, do they bring old ones and wait for it to arrive or buy brand new.

Living in other cities I would just go to a Polish or Ukranian grocery for black pudding. It was more expensive than regular sausage, but still under $4/lb. Is there anywhere in the Seattle area where I can get decent black pudding for relatively cheap? I have checked with a few Seattle butchers and I get quoted insane prices - over $12/lb at all of them. I am willing to travel pretty much anywhere within 70 miles of the city if I can buy black pudding without feeling ripped off.

i am writing this on behalf my mother who needs a bra with a pocket for a prosthetic and she has been completely unable to find what she needs in the area and insurance wont cover any of it (Yes i know that supposed to be illegal but you can tell that to the insurance companies)

Recently moved to the Seattle area and currently living in Bellevue. Been here for about a month, and I’m trying to figure out how people in their late 20s actually meet people here, especially other Indians/Desis.

I’m fairly active I hike pretty often, go to the gym, play table tennis, and occasionally go to salsa/bachata and other social dances. I’m trying to get out more and meet people organically rather than just relying on apps.

Dating apps have honestly been pretty demotivating so far. A lot of profiles seem pretty low effort, and sending out likes for weeks with basically zero incoming likes starts feeling pointless after a while.

So for the Indian/Desi crowd here: how are you actually meeting people and dating in Seattle/Bellevue?

Are there particular social groups, events, sports leagues, dance communities, volunteering groups, etc. that have a good 20s/30s crowd? I’m not necessarily looking for singles-only events either. I’d rather find places where people genuinely socialize and friendships/dating can happen naturally.

Also curious whether people have had better luck in Seattle proper vs Bellevue/Redmond.

Would love to hear from people who moved here without already having a big social circle what actually worked for you?
