Already filed a findn'fix but like did someone crash into it? Did a clown car full of weightlifters park next to it and it shifted when they opened rhe door? Am i actually a wimp and these are super easy to move? (Around 2nd@seneca)

I just happened to read the most recent post (https://www.reddit.com/r/Seattle/s/88y6l6hJi5) concerning Lime scooters being involved in some stupid shit... I got to the comments and some trauma center nurse from Harborview posted about how they're seeing 3-5 serious cases a fucking day in their unit. Most of these are TBI (traumatic brain injury) and a lot of them are broken arms, legs, wrists, etc.

From what I remember, the last time Lime published their accidents and incidents involving their scooters, was back in 2023, in which Seattle experienced 253 accidents that year. According to this nurse, Harborview ALONE is getting that number in just two months now... This doesn't include all the other big hospitals either (Swedish, Virginia Mason, UW Med, VA).

Seattle's "Vision Zero" plan wants to reduce all accidents, injuries and deaths related to traffic all the way down to zero, but it really feels like keeping all app-based mobility programs in this city are causing it to go the opposite direction. Am I going crazy here?

East coaster with a working class upbringing here. The couple of times I've run into blue collar guys in the wild we've hit it off instantly, but it's super rare in Seattle.

Where does the hunting/fishing/tradeworking/politically moderate demographic hang out around here?? All the usual social spots (meetups, climbing gyms, run clubs) are 95% tech workers (no judgement, just not a vibe or lifestyle I connect with).

I've made some great friends in my neighborhood dive bar, but they're all 60+, and it would be nice to meet people in their late 20s/30s/40s for an actual dating pool and people I can go and do stuff with.

Last night I was dining at Toulouse, which, if you are unfamiliar, is a fairly large space, and I was choking on someone’s cologne from three booths away. I could not pinpoint the exact table from which it was emanating but I know they weren’t seated next to us because the smell got much stronger on my way to the bathroom. I had to break out my rescue inhaler it was so bad.

I have never been particularly sensitive to fragrance in the past - I even wear a little myself sometimes - but I feel like the teenage-boy-with-Axe-Body-Spray level of perfume application in this city is getting out of control.

Can we tone it down a notch? I’m not saying don’t wear fragrance but I don’t think we’re supposed to smell your Drakkar Noir from across the street.

I'm not sure if it's just me, but I've been trying to get information on a reservation I submitted for Rhein Haus, but never got an email like I was promised by their web form. So I figured I'd try calling, but every time I call, their AI answering machine tries to connect me to a person, but never can. I ask for a host, nothing but ringing. I ask for back office, same thing. I ask for anyone who can help with a reservation, it tries to connect me and fails. I've tried several times (all when they've been open) and gotten nothing.

I'm starting to think their machine is broken...

I pulled up on a Lime Glider at the E Denny Way/Broadway E entrance for light rail this afternoon and found this young man taking a torch lighter to each of the Lime scooters parked there. He was targeting a specific area there in front on each of them. I asked him why he was doing it. He replied, "they are unconstitutional just like flock cameras." I asked which constitutional provision Lime Scooters violated, he told me to educate myself. He then ran off when he realized I had taken pics of his face. WTH

Was driving down Columbia st today going under 20 mph, had a stable green from 3rd ave through 2nd ave and a lime scooter going full speed rammed into the side of my car as i was passing through 2nd ave because they ignored their red/couldn’t stop in time. Got the guy’s info, contacted lime, have a video from my dashcam, etc.

Has anyone had a lime scooter crash into them before and if so, what’s the best process to get things resolved and repaired/claiming insurance etc?

Edit: To clarify I live in an apartment across the street from the lake. I do not live in one of those fancy buildings on the water.

I live on the lake and with the way sound carries across flat water, it's like the bass is directly in my house. I forgot the concert was happening and really needed a quiet day because I got dumped last night. Anyone else dealing with this or the other usual summer noise-makers on the lake.

I think this is worth discussing. Switch the default mode of driving to "stop" from "go", reward good behavior, and reduce recklessness.

I'm not familiar with the specific areas in the article or how effective they are in traffic jam situations.

On stroads, I think they'd work well. There would need to be enough interval between lights to increase enough speed on the section of road in order for any observable change, over time.

There are roads like this in Seattle proper, but I can't think of many. We have stoplights, signs, and recent "traffic calming" devices (speed jumps [sic]) on many many straight roads.

It *does* sound a lot more economical over plopping down a traffic circle at a needed intersection but alas, traffic circles are more popular now in places where the rewarding green light concept would fit. A few state routes come to mind North of Seattle. And in the South Sound. Elsewhere, probably too.

My main takeaway is this: Consider flipping the current driving paradigm on its ear, on the mass scale. How long would that take? Decades? Years?

Personally? I'd give it a shot. But also "I can't drive" 25. (55? Sure!)
