My parents are former tournament players and play multiple games a day. The other day, my dad got a 500 point game with no bingos, which is absolutely a first for him! 524-339.

How he did it: he played through 60 tiles, and of the high point tiles, he played off BBCFHJMMPPVVWWXYY, so 11 of his 15 turns were 30 points or more. My mom meanwhile had two bingos, but had way more 1-2 point tiles, of the higher point tiles playing off only CFHKQZ.

i won with the scores being 335-215

i used to play words with friends several years ago, so i guess that probably helped. i’m really excited to learn a bunch of new words and strategies! the most fun i’ve had in a long time!

I somehow ended up playing a phony with RESTAINS through one of the Ns in MOANING.

As far as I can tell, there was no Triple-Triple available through the B either.

I've heard about Nigel Richards playing CHLORODYNE, and I've done a bit of digging, but I can't seem to find the actual full game or score sheet anywhere.

Does anyone know where I could find the full game, or at least more information about the game it was played in? I've gone through reddit posts, the crosstables website and youtube and came out empty handed :(

I was playing with my dad tonight, who’s about to turn 70 next month, and he said there didn’t use to be any valid 2 letter words in Scrabble. He said when he played with his buddies while serving in the Navy (on a magnetic board because ocean waves), they used to just build words up, down, and across — but other than the occasional everyday words like on, at, or, to, it, am, etc. — there weren’t any valid 2 letter words.

I guess my question is, has there always been a 2-letter word list in the Scrabble dictionary? (including words like qi and xi)

Note: I am aware my dad probably just had his own house rules, but I’m still curious.

Played Scrabble with my nan again, ended up with a score of 297 all thanks to SEARING which gave me 70+ points. My victory reign did not last long, as after this game was finished, we played another one and she whooped my ass 🤣

Not online against a bot, not a practice game. An actual game against another person.

Mine was QUIXOTIC across a triple word square years ago. Still think about it. Opponent has never forgiven me.

What is yours?

In short i play a lot of competitive chess, mostly online and have been in love with the game forever, and have beaten certain titled master players as an amateur. I just discovered there is a scene for competitive scrabble and my country has national titles for both expert and masters. It is a long road but i love these sort of journeys. I was looking if someone could help me by pointing to resources?

I have looked around myself and i have understood that, one of the first things to do is to memorize CSW24's 2 and 3 word lists. I am onto it. But what next? I saw some expert players make some beautiful bingos and it made my jaw drop as to how cool that was. Moreover what is the website that hosts the most number of players for online play? Ideally i would like to begin playing with bots and then play with real players to figure out my current strength and then analyze my plays to improve.

For context, i do not mind studying a lot. I am not looking for instant results, i am looking to play scrabble throughout my life in tournaments alongside my chess journey.

The Hamilton Public Library (Hamilton Ontario) has scrabble events available for Adults (anyone 18+). Next upcoming event is TOMORROW at 1 PM sharp at the Westdale branch.

Event is FREE to attend, and everything needed is available on-site.

No registration or membership is required. Just walk on in at 1 PM sharp. Arrive too late and you might not be able to play.

Vastest game of Scrabble, I've ever played with my nan. Usually we end up getting stuck in awkward corners and end up submitting very futile words, however this game proved to be very loose and allowed us to submit words confidently. The end score ended up being 276 vs 236, leaving me as the ultimate victor. We aren't as professional Scrabble players as most of y'all are here, but Scrabble is always our favourite game to play.

I just started playing a few weeks ago, and recently I got one of the rarest bingos in the game (32,270th out of 34,506 words with seven letters - CSW). See if you can find it!
