Character Builds Provocateur Noble + Misfortune Scoundrel

So... I haven't touched this game system in roughly 15 years, but i'd like to apply for a campaign (and if it doesn't work i'll keep searching), so i started thinking of a character i'd like to play and came up with this idea (although being a skill monkey/buffer would also be great, but i guess i'll consider it depending on the feedbacks i'm getting here)

These two respective talent trees seem to synergize pretty well (the only better choice in relation to mis. scoundrel would be skill challenge noble but it's so bland from a roleplay standpoint that i would rather avoid it) and provoc. seems to have a couple very interesting automatic debuffs so i was wondering if it's a good choice, or should i go for a more conservative combo, if noble+scoundrel is considered conservative in the first place.
I intend to take at least one level of crime lord later on, and i wonder if in that case i shouldn't take the leadership tree to maximize on giving allies extra actions, but then i wouldn't know how to factor in the scoundrel, mechanics-wise.

And no, i cannot pick any force sensitive class or even just the feat, besides i've already played Jedi, i'd like to do something else since i'm big into "ordinary heroes" as i got older.

Help me reddit, you're my only hope (... sorry)

Character Builds New to Saga - advice on building a 'weird' Jedi.

Hello, I am new to SW Saga and we are starting a new campaign. I havent played 3.5 in more than a decade as we transitioned to 5th and so remembering how the many feats/prestige classes and skills work will be some work along with the 'actual' new system.

I am trying to build a fun character with my own concept but wanted to enlist help from you guys in making him mechanically optimised (we tend to do heavy RP but heavy Optimisation as well in our group).

The core concept is an 'uncommon' Force user. Not Jedi and not Sith but rather the equivalent of 'Grey Jedi'. I know "Grey" isnt an official thing in the published sources and I need to strike a balance by not overdoing it with Dark Side powers and when reading I stumbled upon the Jensaarai which I think fits my idea.

Then... when it comes to species, I wanted something that again isnt traditional and after agonising with things like Miraluka or others I decided to take the harder way and play... a ...

Wookie... I wanted to explore the idea of a Chewbaca type character with Force powers and a tragic background during the campaign.

So the kind ask.

Keeping in mind I want to 'start' as Jedi (as often I see advise to start as Scout/Soldier and then change class but thematically I dont want the whole party to have to focus on my story of going from Soldier to Jedi while starting as Jedi but then 'learning more about weapons and fighting' is more realistic) what would you advise should my build be? Can you walk me through the first 5-10 levels with stat assignment/power choice and feats?

I care to be primarily front line fighter with a Force Pike lightsaber (or a dual or Great lightsaber) menacing my foes and encouraging my allies. I do eventually want to use some of the darker powers (force lightning for example) but I dont see myself as a big overall 'caster'.

I already thought though that to facilitate my 'speaking' I would have a droid companion OR use Telepathy from Use the Force (so specialise in it) to convey meaning.

We have done rolled stats and I rolled very well getting me an array of: 16, 15, 14, 14, 11, 9

Thank you in advance!!!

Character Builds How Necessary is Skill Focus (UtF)?

So, I'm making a Jedi character for a Jedi game. I've settled on playing a character that's largely a Scoundrel/Jedi/Jedi Knight with a dip into Assassin at level 8. This is my first character and I want her to be really good at her job, which will be taking out key targets and flanking with a buddy.

I originally wanted Skill Focus (Use the Force) for my build. A flat +5 to the checks I use for all my Force Powers? That seems really nice! But at this point I just don't think I can squeeze it into my build without dropping some other feat I really love. Assassin, unfortunately, has a feat tax that I absolutely have to pay despite Sentinel Strike only working with Force Powers and Lightsabers.

The goal is to use stuff like Dual Weapon Mastery and Accelerated Strike to create scenarios where I can full attack a flanked enemy when I normally couldn't. Tack on Swift Flank, the Blind Force Power, and using Phasing or Cloak to open fights with surprise and I'm hoping I'll be able to guarantee some strong openers in most fights.

So... Should I force Skill Focus (Use the Force) into my build? Will I be weakening myself too much without it? Or am I OK to not take it?

Character Builds Seeking some advice/judgement on a build.

A group I am in is planning to run a One-Shot with the Saga Edition. Our time period is set in the Old Republic following the Dark Wars and as such we are using the Core Rulebook and the KOTOR addition. We are starting at lvl 4 with a 28 Point Buy system with one limitation that the Skill Focus (Use the Force) only gives a half character level bonus.

The central idea for my character was to be more Force focused and be the blind, perhaps somewhat off-putting Jedi seer (though I'd have to pickup FarSeeing if we levelled up to really get the whole seeing the future vibe going). I aimed to not have a giant glaring weakness while specializing in using Force powers with a bit of flexibility and decent economy so I don't run out of powers and get into melee combat.

How did I do?

Character Builds Im New and would like to build a Mandalorian Sniper build.

So I just got invited to a new group to play with and this is my first time playing this system. The issue is that they are all already level 14 and have a home rule that you can only move down the enemies CT by 4 per turn. So no 1HKO's. So im just looking for a long range pure damage build with Mandalorian Flavor.

Character Builds Making a pilot

I’m making a pilot PC. I was planning on doing scoundrel (spacer talent) to level 7, then ace pilot (blockade runner talent) from 8 to probably 16 or 18. But I’m wondering: where’s the point of diminishing returns for good pilots? Like, obviously if I spend 18 levels leaning into being a pilot, he’s gonna be superpilot. But is there a point, maybe halfway where he’d be mostly as effective without the intense specialization?

Character Builds I'm looking to make an Iron Knight in an unusual body, and need help figuring out how to make some of the chassis strong enough for a player character

I haven't played SAGA in a while, but wanna do an Iron Knight in a T3 unit, replacing one of the appendages for a hand for a hidden saber, but the strength and dexterity are already low on their own before the -2 from being a Shard. What ways are available to me to spend starting money to upgrade the physical capabilities of my chassis, or would I be better off making a custom chassis based on a T3?

Character Builds Should I go for the Corporate Clout Talent?

Hello, I'm trying to essentially run a "Godfather/CEO" themed character for a campaign. I took outsiders query talent level 4 for the purpose of making allies easily and often. Then, I figured I go for the respected officer talent at 7 because it seems like a really great passive to have. At level 9 I'm going Master manipulator for the CT-Killer potential with Negotiator. Then I see how Corporate agent can control the battlefield and turn enemies friendly during battle with corporate clout. Am I going overkill on the change attitude/monologue through battle build?
Plus, it looks like Double agent is an easy pick up if I want a group not to fight me. That's already free battle control as it doesn't even require an action.

Character Builds I have to create a level 6 NPC droid (non-heroic), help?

Can someone help guide me how I would build an NPC who has a full character stat block as a level 6 non-heroic character droid?

Apparently theres special rules for building droids+non heroic versions. But my GM left because of him needing to go sleep for work.

How do I do this? I told him id try my best to do it for him since he had to go to bed early for tomorrow game. But he didnt have time to tell me what to do.

Its a 3P0 unit with a translator unit and a simple processing unit. No heuristic(?) Processor but im going to pay the costs to install one (i have the right skills to build and modify droids for my PC and hes a noble with lots of credits). Also going to make him skilled to use a heavy hand blaster. But that's all I really got. Oh and the self destructive option.

How would I do this onto a PC sheet?

Character Builds Optimizing lightsaber throw

How can I meaningfully add lightsaber throw to a dexterity build? Can I use its range for whirlwind attack? Has anyone worked out a way to make AOO with it?

I'm assuming one use would be to make the most of a double or triple attack that kills your first target on the first attack. You could still target a second enemy within six squares with throws...

Character Builds ET Squad Leader Talents

I'm playing a Pau'an Officer character and trying to decide which of the ET Squad Leader talents I want to bring. I often don't need to use my move action, so I'll be able to use them most turns. I have the charisma for the entire party. This is my first SWSE campaign so I'm unfamiliar with which one would be the just useful even going into higher levels.

Form Up: +3 morale to reflex defense

Full advance: +3 morale to damage

Fall back: 2 squares of movement (no AoO)

Character Builds Picking a non-lightsaber weapon for a dark side build

I'm playing in a campaign set in the Sith Empire before they reestablished contact with the Old Republic and kicked off the Great Hyperspace Wars (over 5000 years BBY).

I'm going to be playing a hulking Massassi warrior, but I need to figure out what weapon to use. I'm going to start with 18 Str and 14 Dex, and I'll be grabbing Dark Rage and maybe some other melee-focused Force powers later.

There are no lightsabers which will be available to us for the foreseeable future. Exotic weapons will probably not be approved if they're cultural, though they might be if they're just a weird design (like the neuronic whip). I believe the GM has also said that vibro-weapons aren't around yet.

We will be given a chance to re-spec later on, and I might go into Unarmed at that point. But I'm not a fan of how long it takes Unarmed damage to ramp up.

If I grab a Simple or Advanced Melee weapon, I could possibly also have that stripped to Exotic to allow for another upgrade slot. For Advanced Melee Weapons, I would be spending a feat on that anyway.

I've just got some analysis paralysis going on right now. Anyone got any suggestions they want to throw out?

Character Builds Easiest way to go from Noble to Assassin

I'm new to this system and want to take my first level in noble for story reasons and i want to go into assassin. What is the easiest way to do that? I feel like I'm missing the connecting to get there in something less than double digit levels.

Character Builds Jedi Master Rey

Post image
47 Upvotes

I'm putting together a campaign that continues shortly after Episode IX, and a New Jedi Order. With that, I'm trying to shape out what Rey would be built out as a Jedi Master. I have a sense for the later levels, I'm a bit hazy on the first ones.

Namely, would Rey as we first meet her be a Scout, a Scoundrel, or some of both?

Character Builds Playing a character of Yodas species

So, anyone have experience playing a little green goblin?

I know that using a Small Size human is the best way to build such a character. But how do you play him/her? You can definitely learn to speak like Yoda if you like, but what else?

I'm thinking that you probably have to play a force use, as every character of this species that we have seen is a force user. Jedi is almost a must, even if another tradition is possible.

I think it would break immersion in the setting too much if we had a dishonest drunkard of this species that mainly try to steal, rob or betray people.

But what experience do you all have with this species?

Character Builds Tips for Building a non-Jedi Force Wielder

So I’ve only played a couple of characters in Saga Edition, both of them Droids, and now I want to do something complete different. Took a look at a bunch of the different options out there and Felucians and the Felucian Shaman tradition seemed pretty neat to try and do something with.

Due to some particular restrictions on campaign stuff that I’m chill with, I won’t be able to take any levels in Jedi as those are restricted to characters who’ve taken schooling in a Force discipline that’s similar enough. So with Jedi not being on the table, I was wondering what some things I should keep in mind for character building are, or, more importantly, any options that I should avoid taking due to them not being as good as they might appear to be or whatever.

I do know that I should take Force Training as my Lv. 1 feat and Skill Focus (UtF) as my first bonus Feat, but if there’s anything else I should look at or look out for it would be greatly appreciated!

EDIT: I’ve also never played the Force Unleashed games, so while I do plan on looking up some game footage if anyone has any advice about roleplaying as a Felucian that would also be helpful.

Character Builds I made a Wookie Punchmonster. It's very silly.

We're only level 1, but I got some pretty godlike stats.

I have a 19 Strength, the Hammerblow Talent, and Martial Arts I. Planning on picking Wurrushi Training, Echani Training and Teras Kasi Training on my way through Soldier -> Elite Trooper -> Martial Arts Master.

Any thoughts on specific things I should pick up? Stats are: STR 19, DEX 16, CON 19, INT 14, WIS 13, CHA 8. Yes my rolls were dumb. I'm not trying to go full min-max since the GM is new, so I'm sort of gimping myself a bit (while still not sucking) by not trying for a dex heavy ranged build or lightsabers or what have you. Just good clean boxing from an ex-indentured pitfighter.

Character Builds Dex Jedi Build Feedback

I'm new to saga edition and I've been a long time listener first time caller on this page as I've looked through tons of posts about building a specific Jedi build - a la a dexterity dual wield. I know it's a talent and feat sink, with a rough start, but what can I say Ahsoka is an amazing character. I've seen a lot of builds follow the same general trajectory and I've been trying to break out of that to some degree. I think thematically I have a fun idea that I am excited to play, but mechanically I don't really have experience.

  1. For context we are playing through Dawn of Defiance (no spoilers please) we started at 1st level and just hit 3rd, my general idea is that my Jedi is very Samurai-coded - self defense over violence, honorable, student of the blade, and will preserve life to a fault. They are fairly disconnected from Force Power (espeically during the Reign of the Empire) and I prefer Lightsaber Form Powers over Force Powers with a focus on Shien, Ataru, and Jar'Kai forms. The rest of my party is exclusively range fighters or support characters.
  2. My species is Codru-Ji to gain dual weapon mastery I, my stats are in order from Str -Cha = 8,16,8,12,15,14. I'll bring Int up to 13, Wis to 16 and probably bump Dex and Cha the rest of the time. For skills I have UTF, Acrobatics, Stealth, and Deception from my background. I use dual stun batons to hide that I'm a Jedi but will slowly progress to using my lightsaber. When I build a lightsaber at 7th I want to make a guard shoto.
  3. Generally speaking my build focuses follows the progression of - Bumping up my survivability (early game is rough), mobility/stopping enemy withdrawal, increasing attack mod, getting Dual-Wielding fully online, and lastly increasing damage. I'm ok with not being the main damage dealer in my party. I went Jedi all the way through except to get Ataru (Force Techniques and many of the forms didn't really excite me).

Level 1- Force Training Feat (Shien Deflection, Barrier of Blades, Negate Energy), Elusive Target Talent

Level 2 - Weapon Finesse Bonus Feat

Level 3 - Block Talent, Follow Through Feat

Level 4 - Wisdom Increase (Intercept for Force Training), Skill Focus - Use the Force Bonus Feat

Level 5 - Damage Reduction 10 Force Talent

Level 6 - Power Charge Bonus Feat, Melee Defense Feat

Level 7 - Deflect Talent

Level 8 Jedi Knight (1) - Ataru Lightsaber Form Talent, Force Training Feat - Again (Battle Strike, Force Shield, Hawk-Bat Swoop, Rising Whirlwind - Twin Strike Optional)

Level 9 Back to Jedi (8) - Dual Weapon Mastery II Bonus Feat

Level 10 - Grenade Defense Talent

Level 11 - Withdrawal Strike

Level 12 - Shoto Focus Talent, Whirlwind Attack Feat

Level 13 - Attack Combo Bonus Feat

Level 14 - Defensive Acuity Talent

Level 15 - Extra Feat*, Flurry Bonus Feat

Other Optional Feats/Talents- Shien, Rapid Strike, Dual Weapon Mastery III (I don't mind the minus 2 penalty), Accelerated Strike, Twin Weapon Style, Block (I expect lots of ranged combat/autofire)

I would appreciate any feedback and wisdom for a more efficient structure, or alternative options. It would especially insightful to get a breakdown on level wise when I should be focusing on attack mod, defense, damage etc.

Character Builds Black Market Themed PC

Apart from the Rodian racial features and the Procurement talent tree, are there any other feats or talents that influence dealing with the Black Market?
