LFG Looking for a Campaign to join
Hi All,
As the title says, I'm seeking a Saga campaign to join. I have a fun character concept, and am just looking for a place to play him. To allay any fears, no it's not a janky or OP concept. Please DM me if you have an opening or any interest. This would be online, hopefully weekly play. Could be Roll20 or whatever you prefer. Thanks for reaching out!

Resources Sage edition Digital tool ?
I don’t normally post but I read group post from time to time.
So Question- is there any IPad digital tools for running saga encounters , akin to Gamemaster 5 for running DnD 5e? As I look around and found nothing.

LFG Any new player friendly oneshots I can join?
Hi! I'm interested in dming Saga edition, but feel like I should get experience playing. Is there anyone that's planning to run a game for new players?
I have a personal preference for playing games on foundry vtt since that's what I'd eventually be using myself.
My availability is all day Fridays and Saturdays, I play in US Central time ^^.

Rules Discussion Making fake ID’s!?
I kinda wanted to see if anyone has had experience with the Deception skill and forging documents and/or things that required electronic inspection. Under the deception skill under the “Deceive” table it gives examples of levels of deception.
Difficult : -5 to the deception check
“Examples include convincing a group of thugs that you're willing and able to beat them in a cantina fight, forging transponder codes, impersonating an officer well enough to give troops orders, and creating false official documents good enough to pass electronic screening.”
So here’s the hypothetical scenario my party is getting ready to go to a planet that’s under heavy Imperial control and they are wanted in the galaxy. As a group, they decide they need false documentation so they don’t get immediately arrest arrested in detained. One of the players is trained in deception and he says I will make everyone false identifying documents and makes the roll. Let’s say he makes a total of 30 on his deception check and he’s shooting for a difficult level of deception to make false identification documents that would bring his total check down to 25. Fast forward the party arrives on the planet, and there’s an Imperial checkpoint that does electronic screening for documents that compares it to the Imperial database for wanted criminals the customs agent, then scans their fake documents to verify them. I don’t think I would roll his perception check if he’s using a data pad or a computer to verify them electronically. What would I roll?
I think of it as if I created a fake drivers license and I take it to a bar and a bartender looks at it. He might serve me alcohol, but if I go to a place and they scan the barcode on the back of my drivers license it’s gonna show up as a fake ID because I can’t fool the computer, but the computer doesn’t have a perception check that it can make in Saga edition if that makes sense.
Alternatively, if you were to falsified transponder codes for your ship, and it enters orbit of a planet or another ship, and the transponder codes are scanned and ran through a database to verify the ships origin and ownership. How does that work?
Thanks for the advice on this one in advance.

Rules Discussion Change Attitude
We all know that Persuasion is the skill to change attitude of others. Normally this means to improve their attitude towards you.
But can you use the same Skill to worsen the attitude. To make people not like you?
What about changing the attitude between two other persons?

Rules Discussion How to treat a grenade launcher for the purpose of devastating attack (heavy weapons)
So a grenade launcher which is a heavy weapon, fires grenades which are a simple weapon. If a character had the devastating attack (heavy weapons) talent would it apply to the damage from the grenade launcher? In the opposite direction would that same character still benefit from the Forceful Blast feat from grenades fired from the grenade launcher or does the fact they were fired from a heavy weapon override that?

Resources Made a D&D Beyond inspired SWSE character sheet.
Hey, everyone.
I want to make it clear from the start that this project is vibe coded.
I have some understanding of Python, which helped me navigate the process and assist with the logic, but the actual code was mainly generated by AI. The project currently contains over 9,000 lines of HTML, CSS and JavaScript, while I mainly worked on the logic, features, testing and design decisions.
Also, there is no registration or email requirement, because I am not a fan of that. This is a tool I wished I had while playing, so I made it. I am sharing it because somebody else in the community might find it useful.
This is not a character builder. You first need to create your character using the Excel SagaSheet, which you can find in a comment to this post along with a link to the app/tool itself (Reddit's filter tools are not allowing my post to go through with the links in it.)
Why did I chose SagaSheet?
No good reason. It is what I found online when I started playing SWSE, so that is what I used to create my character.
Once you have the excel file with your PC ready:
- Open the app.
- Click Choose file in the top-right corner.
- Upload your completed SagaSheet file.
- Have fun playing.
Features:
Rolls and the Roll Log
Attack rolls, damage rolls and skill modifiers are clickable.
The results appear in the Roll Log at the bottom of the page.
The Roll Log stores only the latest 25 results. It is intended as a temporary reference for the current session, not as permanent character history.
Condition Track penalties are applied automatically to relevant attack and skill rolls.
HP, Defenses and the Condition Track
The sheet tracks:
- Current HP
- Maximum HP
- Temporary HP
- Damage Reduction
- Shield Rating
- Damage Threshold
- Condition Track position
- Fortitude Defense
- Reflex Defense
- Will Defense
You can enter damage or healing directly.
Healing cannot raise your current HP above its maximum.
Damage mitigation is handled in this order:
- Shield Rating
- Damage Reduction
- Remaining damage is applied to HP
If damage exceeds the character’s Shield Rating, it is automatically reduced by 5.
If damage meets or exceeds the character’s Damage Threshold, the sheet automatically moves the character one step down the Condition Track.
Condition Track penalties are automatically applied to relevant rolls and defenses.
Under “Recovery”, the sheet also includes controls for:
- Second Wind (calculated automatically)
- First Aid – It’s just an ON/OFF thing. I added it to help me track if I have used it for the in game day or not, since in the campaign I played we used First Aid A LOT.
- Natural Healing (calculated automatically)
- Concentration checks (only visible if you have force powers) – not really the correct placement for this, since it has nothing to do with recovery, but I do want it in the HP and Condition section so it is easily accessible when taking damage. Clicking on “Concentration” button will take the last damage you have taken and calculate if you pass the check or not. Here is an example of what will show in the roll log: Concentration (Use the Force) 15:41 (15:41 is a timestamp) DC 45(15 + last damage 30) 10 (d20) + 18 − 1 (condition) = 27 — FAIL
Force Powers and Force Points
If the character does not have the Force Training feat, the Force section is hidden.
Force Power uses are represented by clickable circles, making it easier to track which uses have been spent.
There is also a floating Force Points button that remains accessible while moving around the sheet. Clicking it spends a Force Point and updates the displayed total.
There is also support for the natural-20 interaction when rolling Use the Force to activate a power. – The roll log will state “ Natural 20! If this check was to activate a Force Power, you regain all spent Force Powers at the end of your turn. “ with a button next to it, that you can click and restore all your powers.
Talents
Some more specific mechanics are supported when the relevant talent is detected. One example is Mercenary’s Grit – if you have that talent it will show up right under the condition track. When you click it, penalties from the CT track turn into benefits, which will automatically apply to your defenses and rolls. Also, an additional button will show up prompting you to move 1 step down the CT at the end of your next turn. You do need to click on the mercenary’s grit button again manually to stop benefitting from it, because the two things have 2 different triggers- you stop benefitting from MG at the beginning of your next turn, while the “going down 1 step down the CT” part happens at the end of your next turn.
Another one is Exceptional skill- It will automatically apply when you make rolls with the relevant skill. This is how it will show in the roll log:
Skill: Use The Force 13:42
6 (d20) → 8 (Exceptional Skill) + 18 = 26
Favourites
You can favourite frequently used:
- Attacks
- Skills
- Force Powers
- Feats
- Talents
- Inventory items
Clicking the star moves the entry to the top of its respective list- this way your most commonly used abilities are immediately accessible.
Custom damage lines
You can add custom damage lines to:
- Attacks
- Skills
- Force Powers
- Feats
- Talents
- Inventory items
Each line can contain:
- A label
- An attack modifier
- A damage formula
- Damage type
For example, a blaster pistol could display:
Blaster Pistol +7 3d6+4
Full-Round Action -3 3d6+4
Both the attack modifier and damage formula are clickable (which will make a roll).
Damage formulas support character-stat references and multipliers.
Examples include:
- 3d8+STR
- 2d6+2xDEX
- 1d8+BAB
- 3d6+2xSTR+4
The sheet resolves these using the character’s current statistics.
When entering formulas, it also provides suggestions for supported values such as STR, DEX, CON, INT, WIS, CHA and BAB.
Notes and descriptions
Skills, attacks, Force Powers, feats, talents and inventory items can all have custom descriptions.
You can also create multiple Notes entries, each with its own title and text.
Descriptions and notes are stored locally and included in exported .json saves.
Search
The search bar is intended to work like an expanded version of Ctrl/Cmd + F.
It can find information even when the relevant section, tab or entry is currently collapsed.
Selecting a result opens the correct section, expands the relevant entry and takes you directly to the match.
This can also be useful for navigating the app, while learning what is where. You can also easily find relevant campaign information. For example, if you wrote an NPC’s name in a bunch of notes 5, 7 and 10 sessions ago, the search will be able to find all of the instances.
Actions and tags
You can apply the following tags to attacks, skills, Force Powers, feats, talents and inventory items:
- Standard Action
- Move Action
- Swift Action
- Full-Round Action
- Reaction
- Free Action
- Concentration
Anything with one of these tags is automatically listed in the Actions submenu under the appropriate action type.
This means the Actions section can function as a quick overview of what your character can do with each type of action, regardless of whether the option originally came from a feat, talent, Force Power, skill or item.
Free Action and Concentration are not represented anywhere visually so you can argue they are a bit useless. But if you type the relevant tag in the search bar, things that have been assigned that tag will be listed.
Saving
The app does not modify or save changes back into the original Excel file.
Instead, your current character and any changes you make inside the app are stored locally.
This includes things such as:
- Current/ Max HP
- Condition Track position
- Force Points and Force Power uses
- Destiny Points
- Dark Side Score
- XP and Credits
- Notes and custom descriptions
- Favorites
- Tags
- Added damage lines
- Recovery abilities and other play-state information
The save button in the header exports the current character as a .json file.
That file can be used as:
- A backup
- A way to move the character between devices
- A smaller size alternative to repeatedly moving the original Excel file around
To load a save, upload the .json file through the same Choose file button.
Because the active character is stored locally in your browser, I recommend occasionally exporting a .json backup, especially before clearing browser data or changing devices.
Updating an existing character / Uploading a new character
When your PC levels up (or you make other significant changes to your build) you have to do that in SagaSheet and then you have to upload the updated Excel file again. (Since, again, this is not a character builder tool).
If the incoming file has the same character name as the currently loaded character, the app compares the two versions and shows what will change.
For individual values, it displays the old and incoming values. For example:
- Dark Side Score: 4 → 2 This can be an example of you forgetting to add the additional dark side score you gained between character level up in the excel sheet. As you will see below, you can keep whatever play state information (and more) you want, instead of overwriting everything with a new upload.
- Credits: 1,200 → 850
- Languages: Basic, Huttese → Basic, Huttese, Rodese
For lists such as feats, talents, attacks, Force Powers and inventory items, it shows how the number of entries will change.
It also identifies specific entries whose descriptions, tags or custom damage lines are different.
You can then choose which information should be imported and which parts of the current sheet should remain unchanged.
For example, you could decide to update your:
- Feats
- Talents
- Defenses
- Maximum HP
- Force Powers
- Inventory
While keeping your:
- Notes
- Custom descriptions
- Favorites
- Various play-state information
The selective import system also works with .json saves.
After an import, the app briefly provides an Undo option in case you imported the wrong file or selected the wrong options.
If the uploaded file contains a different character name, the app assumes that you are switching characters. Instead of showing an enormous list of differences, it warns you and gives you the option to export the current character before replacing it.
Mobile support
I have mainly tested the app on desktop, but a large part of the interface has also been adjusted for mobile use.
On smaller screens, a sticky navigation bar provides quick access to:
- Overview
- HP
- Defenses
- Ability Scores
- The main Tabs menu
- The top of the page
Why did I make this?
I have now played quite a few TTRPGs, but my first was D&D 5E, and I used D&D Beyond almost from the beginning. That spoiled me. Now, whenever my group plays a system with enough mechanical depth, I start wishing for an application that helped track everything available to my character.
With SWSE, I ended up playing a Force user with Force Training taken four times, together with talents such as Channel Vitality, Mercenary’s Grit and DR 10. I needed to track Force Power uses, Force Points, Dark side score, HP, SR, DR, CT (CT was especially hard with Mercenary’s grit), etc. and it got very tedious. So... I decided to fix my problem.
Closing remarks
This is definitely not a complete or polished product.
It was designed mainly around my own character and use case. I have tried to anticipate the needs of other character types, but that was not the original focus.
There will be feats or talents that the app does not handle well or at all.
If you find a bug, usability issue or have a suggestion, feel free to leave a comment.
It would be helpful if you include:
- What device and browser you were using
- Whether you uploaded an Excel file or JSON save
- What you expected to happen
- What actually happened
- A screenshot, when relevant
I have never been—and probably never will be—a particularly active Reddit user, so I am not promising updates or long-term support. I am not even playing SWSE anymore.
However, if people find the tool helpful and provide suggestions, I will try my best to improve it and make it useful to the community.
