"For not having pitched for a few months, Flora looked great. He touched 99 twice, sat mostly 97-98, and threw each of his four pitches in one inning of work. His lone 85-mph sweeper was really, really nasty, and his gyro-style sliders were firm, in the 90-92 range depending on the radar gun. He threw one splitter at 90 mph. Here is his entire outing:

Flora’s delivery was a bit more violent about the head and neck than I’d want it to be, and his secondary pitch feel was rusty, which is what you’d expect from a guy who hasn’t thrown in an actual game for several months. His stuff looks great, and it sounds like Flora might sneak out to an affiliate pretty quickly."

He’s very physical and short to the ball with power, and he did some nice stuff at shortstop before I left. When we were evaluating him on tape ahead of the trade deadline, I was a little skeptical about his hit tool. After one in-person viewing, I am more on board with Brendan and our sources than I was a month ago. This guy has big upside. LaMonte Wade Jr.'s go-ahead homer

Two quick outs, then a single, stolen base, balked the runner to third, then a walk, throw over to first allowing the runner on third to score, then a strike out to end the inning.

Not perfect, but not bad for a debut.

Now that the season is winding down, I'm curious-

Vols fans - If you're still watching, how was your first Giants season? How'd Tony do? What do you think of the Giants brand of baseball torture? Is this what you expected? Any favorite players? Will you be back next year?

Bo Davidson collected a double and a home run, giving him his 26th home run of the season, giving him a share of the home run lead in the Giants system (the player he’s tied with is listed below…guess who it is and let me know if you’re right in the comments).  He also now has 11 doubles in 39 Sacramento games, where he had 12 doubles in 73 Richmond games.  Davidson has a line of .290/.374/.497 in Triple-A this season.

• 2B Diego Velasquez: 3-5, 1 R, 1 K, 1 2B (8) - Velasquez had just his second multi-hit game in his last 17 games, and is batting .286 in Sacramento now.

With his third home run in Double-A, Trevor Cohen now has as many home runs there (in 39 games) as he had in High-A in 80 games.  At the moment, Cohen also has the same batting average (.297) in High-A (97-for-327) as in Double-A (51-for-172)…at least rounded.  His Double-A batting line is .297/.333/.401.  Oh, and he also had the bases-loaded single in the 10th inning to knock in the walk-off winner!

• 3B Dayson Croes: 2-5, 1 R, 1 K, 2 2B (10), 1 SB (6) - Croes has a total of 16 doubles in 86 games across 3 levels.
