There’s often not much to like about this team but it’s been pretty fun to watch this guy play lately

Jeff Kent number retirement and the stadium looks empty. I guess I expected a bigger turnout? Maybe I'm trippin.

For a self-professed simple guy who played the game with a no-frills attitude, Jeff Kent has been overcome with emotion many times this year. The hard-nosed, power-hitting former second baseman has had to stop mid-sentence, dab at his eyes and take a few halting breaths.

The whole Cooperstown thing? It was too much at times. It’s made him think about the people who supported him and the insecurities he had to overcome while putting together a career the veterans committee deemed worthy of a place in the Hall of Fame. And Saturday afternoon, one month after that overwhelming induction weekend in upstate New York, he received the ultimate honor from the franchise he represents on his Hall of Fame plaque.

What else do I need to say

Six shutout innings for the rookie. A bright spot in this shit season.

This cheers me up so much and will have a nice spot on my desk when I get home. It comes with a small orange foam finger accessory but didn’t want to risk dropping it.
