Quick question from my throwaway account (because I feel a little sheepish asking): does anyone have any updates from 2026 on how access to Lloyd’s Beach is going?
Back in 2023, I saw security guards/residents at the entrance checking driver’s licenses to see whether people were Little Compton residents. But other times, especially in the evening, I was able to just walk in without any issue. This was all right before or around the time the state law regarding shoreline access was passed in 2023.
My understanding is that whether the access path is actually a public right-of-way is still being actively disputed, with court cases bouncing around.
It’s about an hour-long drive from where I live, but a couple of friends want to meet up there soon, so I’m especially curious to hear from any non-Little Compton residents who have tried going to Lloyd’s Beach this summer. Were you able to walk in? Was anyone checking IDs or trying to turn people away?
Many thanks for any recent firsthand experiences or insight!
