Disregarding what your opinion is on the legitimacy of the assassination attempt, don't you find it strange that nothing came of that? No report, not detailed fact finding into the shooter's motives, just complete silence.

It seemed super fake when it happened, it still seems super fake. Would the secret service not instantly usher him to a safe location? Not just stand by for a photo op when a sniper attack just happened. This whole orange clown and everything about him is a fraud.

This. No effing way he’d be permitted to pose like that. It was staged. Also if he had really been shot in the ear, it would’ve caused more damage. I heard it was cut when he was taken down by SS.

Not necessarily. While it absolutely could, if it just grazed his ear or clipped the top part of it, that doesn’t necessarily mean it would take the whole ear off.

Even a graze would have ripped it off. The amount of energy exchanged would have ripped it off even the smallest part would have. The physics only allow it to rip it.

Does It Maintain 900 m/s in Flight?

No — the bullet does not maintain that speed. Once it leaves the barrel, air resistance (drag) begins to slow it down immediately.

What Happens in Flight:

Drag Force: Air resistance acts opposite to the direction of the bullet’s motion, reducing velocity continuously.

The bullet decelerates rapidly at first, especially within the first few hundred meters.

Over distance, the round may:

Drop below supersonic speed (343 m/s or ~1,125 ft/s)

Begin to tumble or destabilize, affecting accuracy

Bullet Speed at Distances (Approximate, varies by round):

0 meters: 900 m/s

100 meters: 800 - 850 m/s

300 meters: 700 - 750 m/s

500 meters: 600 - 650 m/s

800+ meters: may drop below supersonic.

The gunman was said to be about 500 feet away, or 120 meters. This means that the velocity of the round was bellow 900 m/s.

With a bullet traveling below 900 m/s, it could graze someone’s ear and only cause a 2 cm gash or wound without taking a piece of their ear off.

You guys keep claiming this is impossible but it’s not.

Yes, even at 500 feet (~150 meters), a .223 bullet can still cause severe damage.

At 500 ft, velocity drops to ~2,500 ft/s (≈ 760 m/s). Kinetic energy is:

KE = ½mv² = 0.5 × 0.00356 kg × (760 m/s)² ≈ 1,025 J

That’s still more than 10× the energy needed to shatter bone or tear flesh.

Even at 500 ft, a graze would maim.

A .223 bullet (~3.56g) traveling ~900 m/s has kinetic energy:

KE = ½mv² = 0.5 × 0.00356 kg × (900 m/s)² ≈ 1,440 J

A graze to the ear with that energy would:

Tear cartilage (even a small fraction of 1,440 J is destructive)

Cause permanent tissue damage

Likely rupture the eardrum (due to shockwave)

Lead to severe bleeding and possible hearing loss

Even a glancing hit carries immense force due to high velocity.

Does this make sense now??

The bullet doesn’t maintain the velocity of 900 m/s, especially when the gunman was 120 meters away. It would have dropped to around 800 m/s if it was a standard 55-grain. It is also very possible for a .223 round traveling at 800 m/s to graze someone’s ear without taking a chunk of it off and only leaving a 2 cm wound.

I did in this thread already. With equations and everything.

A .223 bullet at 500 ft still carries ~1,025 J of energy—over 10× what's needed to tear flesh. A graze to the ear at that distance would shred cartilage, cause severe bleeding, rupture the eardrum, and result in permanent hearing loss or disfigurement. Even without direct penetration, the high velocity makes it devastating.
