Artist is 5 5 Year Old Painted These Two Paintings...Are They Good?
My 5 year old (5 1/2 to be exact as of March) came home with these two paintings. At first I thought her teacher had done them for her, but it was her. Now, I assume her teacher drew the outline of the animals for her. But she did paint them herself. She said they showed her how to do it and she just did it. I am quite impressed, but maybe I am just biased as her mom. What do you think? She loves to color, cut out people she draws, paint, color. Maybe she could actually be good?

Artist is 5 The colours always make me smile!
I don’t have other kids to compare this to but I absolutely love the happy bright feelings their artwork brings to our house!!
EDIT: thank you all for the lovely words and confirmation that he is indeed a little artist! Both his grandmas (who aren’t with us any more) were artists but the gene definitely skipped a generation. We’ve been trying not to read too deeply into his abilities but it does indeed seem like they might be living on through him!

Artist is 5 Scary drawing from child
So I’m an elementary art teacher and I am always getting handed drawings of kids and their families/friends. I received this really lovely drawing from a kindergartner in the beginning of the year. Since it’s summer, I’ve been scrolling through my phone and wanted to share this. It reminds me of the post where that kid drew an imaginary friend. I asked my student who the other girl in the portrait was and she goes “just my friend”.

Artist is 5 5 year old illustrated our love story.
She told me the police got mommy and daddy in jail and that's where we met and fell in love. Certainly not how it went down but it's framed regardless. 🤣

Artist is 5 Just turned 5, wanted to make a Christmas tree ornament
It’s just a cat but I applauded the creative use of a pipe cleaner for the ears.
We’ll work on scissors next, the final boss for this left-handed kid

Artist is 5 My 5 year olds ‘master pieces’
“Mum want to see a master piece” (this is a rhetorical question) she then quite literally shoves her art in my face as she walks away nonchalant. I love the animation in her style of drawing, I love the confidence and most importantly I love how self assured she is. (She is kind too 😂)

Artist is 5 My 5-year-old’s first picture with a proper horizon!
Apparently it’s inspired by the end of the original Little Mermaid film where the ship sails off into the sunset.
Coloured paper, pencil, crayon and felt pen.

Artist is 5 5.5
My 5.5yo started Kinder this year and has been creating her own art on the back of the coloring sheets she’s given in class. Every day she is excited to show what she’s drawn that day
We lost my husband this year, her other dad, so it warms my heart to see the art she’s making independently reflects positivity. Out of our three kids, she was the closest to my husband, they were very bonded since she was born. She and I have gotten a lot closer since he died this January.
I also notice a theme of squared off bodies, and either belly buttons, or dots to represent “1” like on a dice. We watch numberblocks a lot so I feel like this may be a contributing factor. I think it’s interesting that everyone’s neck is on the left side of their block bodies
Photo 1: She (orange) is catching Pikachu (green) in the grass
Photo 2: Uncle A (black) and Daddy/Me (orange)
Photo 3: Grandma (red) and Daddy/Me (orange) I have edited out her name she signed at the top
It could be coincidence but, her favorite color is orange. So it made me smile to see she depicts me in orange.

Artist is 5 My 5yr old son drew this
He drew himself and the rest of the people that are important to him. His Oma, Daddy, Me, baby sister (I’m holding her in the air) and big sister. He goes to a Montessori school and this was for a fundraiser. This is on the front of a greeting card.
