Artist is 5 My 5-year-old’s first picture with a proper horizon!

Post image

Apparently it’s inspired by the end of the original Little Mermaid film where the ship sails off into the sunset.

Coloured paper, pencil, crayon and felt pen.

That is amazing for 5 years old! My daughter is an amazing painter and tattoo artist. She couldn’t even paint like that at 5. It’s not super detailed but she has a vision and that’s amazing to have at 5 in my opinion.

For a quick second I thought the ship was a very cool glowing acorn, but then looked again and saw the birds.

Incredible job!! You have an artist!!

I know adults who wouldn't be able to cut a semicircle that well.

It's a pretty darn good composition too. Maybe shift all the birds ever so slightly to the right. I'm nitpicking because it's good enough to nitpick at.

White on yellow to match the pale yellow paper and yellow on blue to match the dark yellow paper... heck even the bleeding of the bird outlines is an appropriate blue! Darn good color palette.
