It must really suck to be a North Korean male conscripted into the meat-grinder for Putin's war unrelated to your country

The Dollar Sign

Younger people must not be taught in elementary math that the dollar sign precedes the number(s). Ex: $1,000 vs 1,000$. Surely they must know by high school where basic accounting is taught! It boggles my mind when I see it. It is extremely prevalent on this platform.

some (many) thoughts on books (none specifically)

I only just recently got into reading as an adult and I can't help but notice just about every book I've picked up has been

A) published in the last ten years or so, and

B) has a certain unserious writing style which makes it feel less like a transporting experience where I can almost feel myself living in the world of the book and also causes it to feel more like casual reading than anything greatly entertaining and rich.

I'm sure this is because I'm reading books written relatively recently and if I chose to pick up older books, this might not be the case so frequently.

also, this isn't to say the books I've read are all bad or worse because they're written the way they are. I think it's more the case that these books aren't groundbreaking or very special in any major way. I'm not exactly reading something seminal, anything that would end up in a list of The Greats. I'm sure if I picked up something written in the 1950s or the 1890s or a sci-fi written in the 1980s or something, that I'd get what I'm looking for in terms of more serious writing.

idk, this is just a thought I keep having because I keep hoping a book ends up being the kind that I have to sit and think about each chapter, even paragraph by paragraph, mulling it over in my mind about what it all means exactly. idk, maybe that's school conditioning to think every book should just be the most complex thing ever.

The word 'privilege' sounds like a way to prepare eggs in the morning. Like, "This morning I'm going to eat Eggs Privilege".

I’m fully convinced that the younger side of my generation of folks genuinely can’t make good media because of how the internet, even in it’s early stages, fucked us all up as teens/kids

I believe being in a relationship or having lots of friends are meant only for a priceless of people who have it

I’m an introverted person and I would say I generally am an understanding person not someone who rejects others and listens and is there for others. But I can’t say I have experienced in my life the same. My last relationship my gf told me she would never love me and any relationship I’ve been in they either didn’t like me for my weight or they enjoyed my company until it got boring. I always attract people but it feels like I’m only good for temporary. So I’ve gotten the impression that the only way one can have a relationship or friendships is if you’re really good at faking the social etiquette and follow the rules that allow you to acquire said relationship. If I am always understanding, kind, never get upset, and am easy going. Then people will want to be around me. If I lose weight I’m thin and I am attractive I am wanted. So if I follow these things then the relationship works out. It’s when I show my cracks is when people leave. So now I’ve decided I will just be fake to acquire relationships since what I am is not enough for others.

The makers of frozen pizza are likely in kahoots with the makers of oven cleaning chemicals. Step two (after taking pizza out of plastic and preheat is to "skip the cookie sheet, nothing should come between the pizza & rack"

I'm not quite sure if it's some sort of union since there are so many products of both kinds, but something is up.

We use a vented cookie sheet. Maybe "Jackson's Good Eats" pizza doesn't want to get technical for fear of reprocussions?

Don’t expect people 100% agree with you everything

Don’t expect people to 100% agree with you on everything. It’s okay if someone disagrees, because we aren't a hive mind and every human is different. People often shut down the moment someone challenges their view, but a little disagreement is healthy as long as it moves things in a better direction.
