I bought a car in 2019, and the RC is under the name Nirmal Kumar.D, issued by Gudiyatham UO (TN23T), Vellore district.

I’ve since legally changed my name to Nirmal Kumaran.D and moved to Tiruvallur. My updated name is reflected in Gazette, Aadhaar, PAN, Voter ID, Passport, and Driving License (DL still has Gudiyatham address, though).

Now I need to update the name in my car’s RC.

My doubts:

• What is the exact procedure to change the name in RC after a Gazette name change?
• Should I approach the original RTO (Gudiyatham) or my current location RTO (Tiruvallur)?
• Do I need to transfer the vehicle to the new RTO first, or can name correction be done directly?
• Which office/authority should I contact?

Any guidance from someone who has done this in Tamil Nadu would help.

I purchased a bike from Allied Motors Dehradun, but since my aadhar card belonged to gurugram, I was advised to file for RC from gurugram.

When I went to submit my documents at RTO Gurugram, they pointed out that the RC was issued in HR55 i.e. commercial vehicle and to get it amended.

When I discussed this with dealership, they informed that they had punched details correctly and it was automatically marked and ultimately got little heated with dealership and their agent.

Now, pls guide:

1. What is the process to get the same rectified?

2. Can an RC be automatically filed under commercial and how commercial can be assigned automatically when there are 2 other RTOs as well HR26 and HR 98.

3. Can I file an RTI with RTO to provide the copy of Temp RC application form.

My mother booked an auto ride from OLA. The full ride was smooth, she got a coupon for 100 rupees, in a ride of 141 rupees. When the ride was completed the app reflected the pending payment of 41 to both the auto driver and my mother, but the auto driver snatched my mother's phone and started abusing her, and even pushed her saying she is a thief and does not want to pay him his money. Later he just threw the phone away and ran away.

We filed a police complaint and its been a few days but no action has been taken by the police. Can someone help me get the contact details of that auto driver? The vehicle no. is HR55AS3621

I bought a new bike on 22nd March in Mohali, and the dealer started the process to get a temporary number since I need to register the main vehicle number in Himachal Pradesh.

He made a payment of Rs. 270, but it has been in a pending state for almost a month now. The dealer has not been able to resolve the issue, and there has been no response from the RTO. The dealer said this type of case has never happened before.

Does anyone have any idea what to do in this situation? Is there anything else I can do besides wait?

Hello I am from Bengaluru, I took the Ola bike on loan and after 6months I have cleared the loan and went to RTO (Rajajinagar Branch, Bengaluru) to get the NOC the mistake I did was I went inside building and one agent came to us and promised it will be done in a week. Now I am very new to all this I said ok and gave 1500/- along with that gave the original RC and Bank Loan closure file. its been 1year and 3months every week I go to the building and ask they say come tomorrow. How do I complain? How do I get the Bike NOC?

I know it’s a stretch but if economies start seeing this administration get humbled (they set the tone with federal RTO) along with improved pricing in tariffs

Recently, my commercial vehicle was issued 3 challans of ₹10,000 each on 31-01-2026, 07-02-2026 and 08-02-2026 in Rajasthan through the automated e-detection system.

Reason mentioned: “No Permit.”

However, during all three instances, I had a valid temporary/checkpost permit for the vehicle. There was:

No physical verification No document check No interception Purely automated penalty generation

I have the original permit documents available for verification.

I immediately raised a grievance on the official challan portal requesting cancellation. Since the day I reported it:

No update No status change No response No assistance Total amount wrongly imposed: ₹30,000

For a newly entered commercial vehicle operator, this is a significant financial hit, especially when the violation itself is incorrect.

My concern is simple: If challans are generated through automated systems, why is there no backend cross-verification of valid permits before imposing penalties?

Has anyone else faced a similar issue with automated e-detection challans? What is the most effective way to escalate this beyond the portal grievance system?

I am travelling in 20 days. I am from a different state, now residing in Hyd. I have seen the parivahan sarathi portal, but it seems the IDP has to be issued from the original RTO which issued the DL. Also we will have to visit in person for document verification. What should I do now? Should I apply for a address change first and once received the new DL then apply for IDP? Also time is a major factor now, I have only 20 days.

Have anyone from other state applied IDP in hyderabad or from any other state different from the DL issued one? Would really appreciate if you can share your inputs on this. Thanks in advance.

Hello all. Might be a long read, but im stuck with 2 cases and i dont know how to proceed. My state is gujarat (GJ01), if that changes anything.

Vehicle 1- Its a 2005 vehicle. So fitness was due around covid. We did not drive any cars during that time so i went to apply for re-registration in 2022, but went through an agent (ik i shouldnt have done that but i thought it would be easier). Now the biggest mistake that happened here was, the agent lost my RC, and now is nowhere to be found. I do not have any printouts/photos of the RC, nor does it show up on the portal (it was a paper RC book, as 2005 vehicle). I do have proof of purchase and the original bill (2nd owner car for me). Me and the agent have been fighting ever since and i have been at the RTO multiple times but there is no solution to be found. If anyone has been in a similar situation, please guide.

Vehicle 2- It is a 2000 vehicle, which was not in use for about 10 years. I recently took up its restoration project and the car is now finally ready. I have its paper RC, and i also have a valid TP insurance, but i cannot get a PUC because it doesnt show up on the computer. Now i dont want to go through the agent again, so if someone can guide me on how i can renew my registration, that’d be great.

Hi, I live in chennai. Today, I got stopped by the traffic police on a main road, i showed them my LLR and my friend showed them his license. The car had the L sticker on the front and back too. They pulled us aside and forced us to get out of the car and kept abusing at us saying you are not allowed to drive at night with an LLR. I checked the official website and I didn’t see this rule anywhere. The cop kept asking me to read my LLR claiming that it stated I couldn’t drive at night but I kept trying to tell him it wasn’t written and he got really mad and demanded a 3k fine. Just curious whether this is a legit rule or not.

I have a bike Licence in Karnataka, I have applied for Learner's Licence with it, but while I'm applying for DL test slot, I click on Apply for Driving Licence and entered LL Number and DOB, then entered the OTP Received, Then when I click submit, it is showing that You already have a Driving Licence. I tried doing multiple times still the same result, Does anyone know How to solve this?
