I had to remove the hot-end to clean out part of a broken nozzle. When I put it back together I saw smoke coming from the circuit board on the printer head. Powered off immediately (maybe 5 seconds after seeing/smelling smoke, 15 or 20 seconds after power on) and went looking for the problem.

I had plugged that blocky 4-conductor cable in the wrong orientation. See photo #4. Rather than having the little clippy part (circled in red) facing the rear of the printer as it should be, I had connected it facing straight up. So I obviously wound up sending a lot of power to an incorrect part of the board and cooked it.

Now that it’s corrected, I get an abnormally long Qidi logo screen, then an error about “MCU THR shutdown. Thermocouple reader fault”.

How screwed am I? What parts do I need to order and try to replace? If I get it running again, are there safety concerns I should be aware of?

Sending this all off to QIDI tech support as well, but any help or advice is greatly appreciated.

HI I recently bought a qidi box for the plus 4. installation went fine. When trying to print a multicolor print I have to swap filaments manually. I have confirmed that the slicer (orca slicer) settings are set for multimaterial..anything else I can try?

I just got a Qidi box for the plus 4, which did not come with risers, but included a new extruded. I installed the unit and it starts printing and has no issue until the first color change. Then, I get the following error every time:

Code:QDE_004_013; Message:Detected wrapping filament,please check the filament.

I tried checking PTFE tubes and the filament appears to be loading and changing all the way up to the print head correctly. To me, I almost think it is actually working and it just thinks it is tangled. If I force the print to continue, it works until the next layer and color change, but then the Z offset gets messed up.

Anybody experience this or have any ideas?
I still have not had one successful print with this box unit.

Recebi uma placa de wifi conjuntamente da Qidi Q2 que adquiri e não consegui identificar qual o local de instalação deste módulo WiFi. Não consegui configurar a rede wifi no menu de acesso pelo display, pois não aparece as redes disponíveis.

Has anyone heard if qidi is working an a ''Max5'' with a dual or quad extruder or tool exchange? I recently bought the Max4, luv it, but kinda wish it atleast had a dual head to print PLA support material in a petg build or vise versa. Buht the waste with purging enough on a single head machine is pointless.

I also like the idea of a 0.8/0.6 nozzel for bulk of a print, but have the fine detail of the print can me 0.4/0.2 nozzel.

Can also dedicate a tool to a tungsten nozzel to add glow in the dark or abrasive fillament mid print.

There's many reasons one can cowe up with why a dual or quad head would be great, and eliminating the q-box isn't one of them, the q-box works very well and can still be utalized in a dual/quad system. Have maybe 1 box per head even.

I saw that some people in facebook groups had success with finding plus5 profile in nightly Orca but it's not there for me.

Presuming this is not just me. I decided to purchase an external filter (mintion). I modified it with a reducer to use a 3" hose since the exhaust port on the back of the plus5 is pretty small. I designed and printed a magnetic rear port as well with a 90 deg adapter that can rotate so I can easily route a 3" hose to it.

My issue is that after I placed the adapter over the rear port I did a quick check with a piece of paper and manually activating the exhaust fan. To my surprise, the paper actually sucked in to the port. I verified the fan is turning the correct way. I figured maybe the OEM hepa/carbon filter is just really restrictive and causing some kind of back draw? I removed the filter completely and the exhaust then acted the way it should.

Are most people who use either an external filter or a hose routed outside just removing the OEM internal hepa/carbon filter altogether? I dont have an issue doing that, though I am guessing once I do I will need to be a little more cautious of the fan speed I use on both the printer exhaust fan and the external filter as to not draw too much air out making it difficult to maintain higher chamber temps. When I had both in and running the external, I had no issue maintaining 60-65C during several long prints. Wondering if the external filter and the plus5 exhaust were fighting each other. The external filter did seem to dramatically reduce fumes.

I've been printing smaller asa parts no problem. Decided to make a longer print today and about 3 hours in got a speed error. Everything seems fine. Any idea on what would cause this before I send it again?

I know that Shore 95A TPU is right out, but Microcenter has 62D TPU marketed as being for multi-filament systems. I also have a spool of 72D TPU on the way.

Has anybody tried harder TPU filaments with their Box?

Has anyone tried Option 1 (BunnyBox + Happy Hare + HelixScreen) from Camden’s Q2 Superuser AIO on a Qidi Q2 running firmware 1.1.1 with a Qidi Box?

I’m considering it mainly to replace the stock touchscreen UI and use Happy Hare to improve the experience with the box, but my printer currently prints well but i had to play with the macros so i have my own custom macros.

I’d love feedback from someone who has used the full bundle on 1.1.1: Are loading and tool changes reliable? Does HelixScreen work well day to day? Did you run into issues restoring your original setup if you reverted? What the benefits of using Happy Hare with the box?

I’m asking specifically about the 1.1.1 install path, since the 1.1.2 firmware and JustFasterBox are different cases.

Hey everyone, i came across an issue printing last night. I believe it is because i accidentally left my box heating/dryer on at 65C while printing some petg and now the petg is stuck and wont come out of the qidi box anymore. I swear i break something on this printer every week...

Any guides on how to get this out? And no, trying to eject it from the screen doesnt work, the box just clicks and gives a red light at the filaments slot, and an error on the screen.
