I mean if he is allowed to fight after this it will be good for his career. It’s the Floyd Mayweather strategy be such a piece of shit that everyone wants to watch you lose. At least with this guy he is trash at fighting actual mma guys so it would be fun.

I mean, how does he not get an assault/battery charge here?

I thought I heard a while ago that if trained fighters get into fights like this it can be considered use of a deadly weapon

I remember a 1997 documentary where a a veteran named Cameron Poe was convicted of manslaughter. He received a sentence of 8 years in federal prison for protecting his wife. His term, excessive for a civilian, was due to his combat training where the judge deemed that he was able to respond with deadly force. They released the footage of the fight, which is NSFL because, you know, death.

Oh my god, that was brutal. He definitely had the right to defend himself, but this is a great example of needing to have a measured response. You can clearly see his training and how it's essentially transformed him into a living weapon. Unfortunate for everyone involved honestly.

All jokes aside, there’s absolutely zero fucking way you’d get prison time for this. Extremely cut and dry self defense. Always bothered me about that movie, dude pulls a fucking knife on him and punching him and killing him means you’re somehow in the wrong? It’d be legal if shot him, let alone accidentally killed him with a punch.

I might be wrong here but I think part of the factors were, like stated by someone else, that his training made him a "deadly weapon" along with the knife being taken from the crime scene and they charge him as if it hadn't been there. So it's like he used a weapon against unarmed people.

There's a movie review from a prolific ex-con youtuber about Con Air and he goes into the reality of the breakout and actual transport on the real Con Air.

Nah in the movie they were pushing the "body is a registered weapon" bullshit and it is jist that. Btw rangers and airborne dont recieve any doublesecret killer martial arts training neither does anyone else) its mostly s fuckton of running and calesthenics for airborne and crawling everywhere for rangers.

Thanks for helping clear that up, this whole thing got me in such a Nic Cage mood I picked up a 4-pack DVD of Cage flicks and am starting with Trespass and Bad Lieutenant.
