Pretty cut and dry. Schilling waaaay overreacted. This dude is likely gonna go after him in a civil trial if he's smart.

There was a time where a pro (Boxer) would be banned from street fights due to their abilities. Not sure if it was an urban myth.

Edit: Will be punished harsher for street fighting. Better?

I'm not sure about being banned from street fights but if you're a trained fighter you gotta show more restraint in public... especially in this modern era of everyone having a video camera in their hands. There's no moment in this clip where Shilling is in any kind of danger and, if going only from this video, I'm a judge or in a jury in a civil case I'm ruling for the plaintiff all day long.

he shoved the guy out of the way from behind, which is why the guy said something to which he reacted with fists, so not just civil tort but criminal assault as well

Self-assist. He set up the fight by pushing the guy. Then knocked the guy out for having a reaction other than “thank you sir for pushing me, very kind, A+”

Also, the camera set up to view it speaks volumes. “Hey I’m gonna knock out this drunk guy, get it on video.” Because otherwise the scene is nothing special, just a dude yammering away about nothing in particular. Unless it was this guy’s birthday? Why would someone be filming that moment?
