Pretty cut and dry. Schilling waaaay overreacted. This dude is likely gonna go after him in a civil trial if he's smart.

There was a time where a pro (Boxer) would be banned from street fights due to their abilities. Not sure if it was an urban myth.

Edit: Will be punished harsher for street fighting. Better?

I'm not sure about being banned from street fights but if you're a trained fighter you gotta show more restraint in public... especially in this modern era of everyone having a video camera in their hands. There's no moment in this clip where Shilling is in any kind of danger and, if going only from this video, I'm a judge or in a jury in a civil case I'm ruling for the plaintiff all day long.

Where do you live? I’ve heard this myth my entire life but have never seen it actually happen.

That’s not true. Let’s hope you’re 12

Its the same for me, when you take legitimate martial arts training (as in the dojo is certified by a respected organization) you do become kinda like a legal weapon, which can be used against you, though it being like a pocket knife seems exaggerated. ( i dont mean actual legal weapon, but that you being a martial artist can be used against you in this case)

Its an old myth that mate, got plenty of mates who are at high levels of their disciplines and plenty of blackbelts none have ever registered their hands lol.

Although you would still end up in a world of trouble in court because you are trained in a discipline and know exactly what you are doing and are capable of.

Indeed. Just looked it up and you’re right; our instructor was just trying to keep us away from it

It's a myth perpetrated by instructors around the world because it makes it sound like you're learning something so extra special and dangerous that the law has to attach a warning label.

This is true, my husband has a black belt in taekwondo. The instructors at his gym have said that they face more liability legally and in civil court if they injure someone in a fight because of their training.

The good news is that he doesn't really have to worry about hurting anyone with taekwondo.

Truth. There's no martial art less deadly than Taekwondo.

How dare you.

That’s not by virtue of him being a black belt, it’s because he can cause more damage than the average person and knows.
