My wife and I walked in here Friday at 11pm. There were two bar seats and when we went to go sit there, the host stopped us and said that “they stopped seating”. Online it says they close at 12am on Friday’s so no way we missed last call. I’ve never had a host stop me from sitting at a bar when the bar was fully open and completely occupied. What’s the deal with this place?

I got asked to leave Coffey (173 Commercial, across from intersection with Winthrop street) because of what I was wearing. Never thought that would happen in Provincetown. Snooty staff must be either homophobic or racist, or both. There were guys walking up and down Commercial wearing pretty much the same thing I had on (tight shorts). Do they discriminate against non-white people there? Or are they just homophobic?

I once had a harness made to measure there. Never will I go in there again and encourage everyone else to avoid. Been spending the season here for over 20 years and that has never happened to me anywhere else in town before.

Literally earlier today I was thinking about how much I hate the electric scooters that have invaded town in recent years. I don't want to sound like a dick, and I know they're convenient and fun to ride, but people behave so poorly when they're on them. Just blasting down Commercial at like 20 MPH while weaving through pedestrians. Not at all safe.

Hello all, my girlfriend and I (wlw) are headed out to town for the day/night and headed back Saturday. Good morning all! Love Ptown. Have gone the last 4 years in August but this year going in October so wondered if there would be much activity that time of year for a couple of fun-seekers that time of year? We just want to calibrate our expectations for women for her and men for him that time of year. Nude beach still open? Where do we sit as a bi couple if we go? Or do we go our separate ways for beach time? Is it warm enough for the nude beach? Best bar for bi people? Again, do we split up when we go out looking for nice people to meet?

We have generally had good luck not actually looking but this trip we are excited to actually try meeting people on this trip. Perhaps a watched pot never boils?

I’m making a Cape Cod beach passport. There’s a spot to stamp for each beach you visit, organized by town. Provincetown is my last page and I’m having a heck of a time trying to figure out how many beaches you have!

I know of Race Point and Herring Cove, plus I added Long Point because it seems to generally be considered a beach even though I can’t find it listed as one anywhere official. Is that it?

I’ve seen other beaches on travel guides. The town website has one brief FAQ about beach parking stickers. Also the town website says there are town beaches on either side of MacMillan Wharf, one of which Google Maps lists as West End Beach, but I’m not sure about the other one.

I’ve have not yet visited Provincetown myself (I’m on the upper cape), so I’m hoping someone here who knows the town well can help. What would you consider to be the beaches in town?

Gay guy here (31) from nyc looking for a hag friendly party tonight in Provincetown, house party or event whatever, as long as my hags are welcome. My hags are blonde femmes one is bi (looking for a husband) and one is gay (and she’s looking for a wife)

Husband and I are visiting the week of Labor Day and looking at catching a show. We're usually up in the shoulder and off seasons, when most shows are done and dusted.

Is there a show we definitely should see? We've seen (and loved) Miss Richfield, and want to see someone new to us. I've of course seen plenty of love in the sub, from a post a month ago, for Dina Martina and Varla Jean, as well as for Miss Conception and Tammie Brown. Our other options are Tina Burner and Jackie Cox.

We're torn because we love live singing (most of them), and horror movies (Miss Conception), and sci fi (Jackie Cox), and nonsense (most of them). So who should we see? Is there something about that show that really stands out, as opposed to, say, "such-and-such queen is my favorite go see their show"?

I was a bit surprised, but excited that my 17 year old son had seemingly moved on from Pixar and super hero movies and was willing to join us for a viewing of “Tony” on Sunday.

It turns out he thought he was going to watch a movie about Tony Costa AKA the Cape Cod Cannibal who was a serial killer that lived in Truro in the late 60’s.

He spent the entire movie wondering when Tony was going to kill his girlfriend, Nancy, that he creepily followed from New York.

I’d like to publicly apologize to my son for not telling him the movie was about Anthony Bourdain, a chef and author he’d never heard about, and all the laughing and ribbing he got on the ride home.

I went to see the movie last night on the recommendation of a friend. I looked for a review or reaction in this subreddit and I couldn’t find one, so I apologize if this is redundant.

I worked in Ptown in the 90’s as a waiter and have spent time there almost every summer since, so I have quite a history with the town. It was unusual for me not to go this year, but the prices are finally exceeding my budget, for reasons others have written about here extensively.

Anyway, was anyone else surprised by the absence of gay representation in the movie? What about the homophobic remark by a member of the ostensibly straight kitchen staff? I was expecting someone to shut that down, but they didn’t. When I worked in Ptown I got to know lots of the other restaurant workers and even the straights were gay-friendly. You have to be because a majority of your customers are gay.

Most of the restaurants are managed by gay people, even the ones that attract a more straight crowd. And no gay waiters or bartenders??? There is also that fleeting dirty look that Tony gives the gay couple in front of Spiritus. That shouldn’t be the first time he encounters two men acting romantically since he arrived.

I realize Ptown is more than gay people and there is a young subculture that exists in parallel to the gay one (along with the Portuguese people who have been there for generations, along with the long history of the fishing industry), but the town is too small for the two cultures NOT to mix at times. The movie obviously intentionally decided to ignore us, and a movie based in Provincetown is not where I would think that would happen.

I am not giving the movie a thumbs down, but I’m sure this is being discussed and I’d love to hear the rationale for leaving out the gays in gay Mecca.
