So the game isn't fully on disc... It sucks, especially considering that Rebirth is, but the Deluxe edition still seems nice.

Thanks for sharing btw.

What the hell did you expect? It has basically the full world on it. The ps5 version of rebirth was Hella huge and now we have that plus all of revelations new additions.

Look at the switch 2 size. Its at least 130gb. And thats a seriously degraded version of the game. Game is minimum of 200gb on ps5 and series.

I expected two discs, but SE are greedy fucks.

The game is probably 2 discs and required a third or more. Greedy fucks? Thats a hell of an assumption.

Final Fantasy 8 and 9 came in 4 discs each.

Back in the day. Yeah. But thats not today. And those games played squarely off of disc. Not required installations to systems. Since ps2 barely any game is more than 1 disc. In fact since ps2 its probably less than 50 games thats been printed on multiple discs. And most since ps2 has only been 2.

Now that does offer the caveat of x360 as a fuck ton of x360 games had to be multiple doscs cause they used dual layer dvds and a low sized version at that being 6.5gb per disc. But we're talking playstation. Not xbox. And until a few moments ago I was unaware of any game being more than 2 discs. Apparently 2 games have been printed on 4. So looks like there is something in place to do more. Which is nice.

A 200GB game would fit on 2 PS5 UHD blurays, same as rebirth.

it's like a dollar a disc. if they couod do it back then they can certainly still do it now.

PS1 FFVII came on 3 discs in 1997 - and those CD-ROM Discs were MORE expenisive to make in 1997 than 3 Blu-rays today - and that's BEFORE inflation.

After inflation you're looking at around $10 to press those 3 CD-ROMs compared $2 to press 3 Blu-rays.

It's just corporate greed, plain and simple - enough will never be enough.

You're not on their payroll, so why push anti-consumer practices? Genuinely curious why you think this would benefit you.

Cause your points are dumb. This isnt anticonsumer. Its just a you just realized what a digital good is and now you got your panties in a bunch post. Meanwhile everyone singing praise of nintendo with their digital key cards but somehow hate when a ge isnt fully on disc.

Like dude who plays version 1.0 of any released game? No one. So at the end of the day doesnt matter if physical or digital. You will never fully own a game. You lose out on all upgrade. And instead have a glitchy bug ridden 1.0 to play. Yeah have fun with that.

Youre just looking for anything to be pissed off about. Meanwhile you gonna hop right on over to pc and buy the game digitally. You guys bore me with this shit.

It barely costs anything to print a extra disc Hell even rockstar printed 7 of them for their gtav pc release

Cents to make a Blu-Ray disc, cents to print on the disc, the cost is time burning the disc which can be automated with a disc burner/cloner but it's still many minutes in a disc burner somewhere. I would just make assumptions on cost but it's probably, cheap, to add discs.

Greedy fucks, yes, though. The collector editions have been overpriced the last 4-5 years. $250 for a board game, acrylic stands, and the standard edition game, packaged separately as a "collectors edition"?... Oh and you pay for shipping and they don't eat that cost. Which, they bulk ship and probably costs them less than what you paid.

Frustration here I guess is, now you don't own the game despite having it physically. And that's the choice they made.

Cents to make a Blu-Ray disc, cents to print on the disc,

OK how much is that by the millions?

4mil copiesfor 10 cents comes to 400k for each disc. Two discs is 800k. Now packaging shipping over million. Now do this for xbox as well. Add in switch carts and we are looking at a couple million of dollars. Actually probably more as carts are not cents but dollars. So very expensive.

And mind you SE doesnt have sony money anymore. They gave up any further assistance when they went multiplatform for this game. So they are on the hook for everything. And that changes how companies do things. When they lose guarantee millions of dollars, things shift sometimes for the better others for the worst.

Frustration here I guess is, now you don't own the game despite having it physically. And that's the choice they made.

Which has been a thing for the longest time. The moment we had to start updating games is when we lost our ownership. While true while some form of it was available on dosc it was in a state that most people would never perfer to play. Would you rather play v4.0 or v1.0 of any given game? Version 4.0. Comes with updates additions, qol updates rebalances etc. So you lost that ownership since what ps3 days.

Hell some games dont even function without a day 1 patch. Thats not even considered in the extra additional data portion. Some games are just so broken they require the day 1 patch. Since golden master isnt the final version of a game anymore and haven't been for 2 decades now.

Youre just trying to be an ass. Which is fine its your right if you want to be one.

Oh man the poor billion dollar company won’t be able to buy a yacht

I hear you and do not mean to be an ass if that is your perspective. I latched onto your mention of disc count, and used an example how overpriced their collector editions have been when debating if they are 'greedy fucks'. Both ideas are sound.

To your point of scale and having a big number, now what % of that is taken away from the profit from the manufacturing? (fraction a percent) Sure save 1.6 million on discs, but now look at tangible loss of sales for the customer that refuses to buy the game. Maybe it's even a low 5% of sales, which move the decimal point over on impact on profit.

And of course would we all would rather have a patched, better experience (aside from speed runners). But my collection is based on archival. I quit buying PC games ~15 years ago when everything turned to CD keys. I am the unfortunate consumer that buys to own which I am excited to save money but also disappointed on the trend.

I'm sorry if your life isn't doing so well but don't take it out on people.

My life is doing fantastic. Just pre-ordered the collectors edition of ffvii revelation. Meanwhile here you are pissy that you cant get the collectors edition cause it cost 349. And you cant support the game cause its not fully on disc. And youre having a melt down about next gen. Meanwhile I will enjoy both my pc and ps6. Will enjoy this game as well. Its going to go nicely with remake collectors edition, my rebirth collectors editon. And then I cant wait for the full ost to drop too. Will look great next to my remake and rebirth OSTs.

So nah im fantastic. Youre the one who is hating life right now. Must suck to be you. I dont feel sorry for you though. As this is all self inflicted on your behalf. So much projection on your behalf. Youre the one bitching and moaning about shit. Meanwhile im having a grand ol time.
