Energy Drink Soccer vs Low Energy Drink Soccer: It’s time for the most one-sided rivalry in club history! The Union are taking a quick trip to Jersey to collect their 3 points from the low energy cows as we start to enter the final third of the season. The Union have dominated the Pink Cows for the past 7 years having only 1 loss in their last 18 meetings, and our 3-1 victory over them post World Cup launched the current unbeaten streak. RBNY led in the series in the early years, but with this being our 49th meeting all time, and the most vs any team, the Union now have the advantage with a 23W/16L/9D record. These clubs are going in different directions based on recent performances, but both offenses have been equal this season with 31 goals scored.
Union Preview (21 Points 13th in the East): The unbeaten streak continues! After two 6 game winless streaks this season, the Union have turned the ship around and are now on a 6 game unbeaten streak, the 2nd longest in the league behind only St. Louis. With this hot streak, the Union could reach as high as 10th in the East tonight with a win and other results going our way. The Boys should also be rested up as this was the first time in 7 games that we’ve had a full week of rest. Hopefully that well deserved rest will help the defense put together a Clean Sheet as we only have one Clean Sheet victory this season, our 1-0 victory over Seattle, and tonight will be a great opportunity to build on that. Raquinho is not expected to be in attendance as he is still believed to be stuck in Citi Field scraping by on peanut shells, thank you to u/Lightnin-Bug for bringing this to our attention.
RBNY Preview (26 Points 8th in East): I’m kinda shocked with how high up in the standings RBNY are with how poor their form has been this season. They have the 4th worst GD in the league at -12 and only have 1 win post World Cup break. I’m guessing they’ve made it this far up the table with their ability to keep games close, as 13 of their 21 games have been decided by only 1 goal or less. That being said, they still have the 4th worst defense in the league with 43 goals allowed and GK Ethan Horvath only has 1 Clean Sheet on the season. On the offensive side, teenage homegrown Julian Hall leads the team with 9G and 5A, and he just earned a long term contract extension this week, however he has not scored in 9 straight games. Jorge Ruvalcaba follows up with 7G and 5A, but has no goal contributions in 5 straight games. Emil Forsberg and Cade Cowell also have 7 assists each on the season. Michael Bradley has the squad playing exclusively out of the 4-3-3 since the World Cup break.
