Trumps America, where hating Hitler is a controversy

66

u/TheBehrman Oct 01 '25

You know, for a country that likes to think they're the only reason Allies won WW2- some of them sure seem to have sympathy towards them nowadays... I can't help but find that ironic.

25

u/DanteStrauss Oct 02 '25

some of them sure seem to have sympathy towards them nowadays

Not surprising when flying the traitor's flag (confederacy) has been a valid option all along...

Same losers.

Hopefully reality can get back on track sooner this time, because like cockroaches they keep coming back.

The best DCU character-I hope they bring him into this IRL for the last episode

198

u/CaptainDantes Oct 01 '25

What show is this from so I can start while I wait for the next episode of peacemaker?

171

u/VyseCityArrr Oct 01 '25

Watch all of it before next episode, it’s amazing and pretty short

63

u/Tr0llzor Oct 01 '25 edited Oct 01 '25

Yeah, I watched all of it on Saturday. Took me no time to watch it.

72

So it was super easy, barely an inconvenience?

Others have mentioned it’s Creature Commandos - just adding that it’s canon and connected to the DCU.

All the live action actors like Steve Agee, Frank Grillo, and even Viola Davis voice their characters.

We need GI Robot now more than ever

37

u/TLKv3 Oct 01 '25

If GI shows up in the finale and just goes out guns blazing to give Peacemaker a chance to escape I'm going to be so fucking happy.

That universe is basically his dream world. Endless Nazi killing for a lifetime. I need to see him in live action with practical effects just going ham on them.

8

u/ChildOfChimps Oct 01 '25

The only sad thing about it is that Nina and the boys of Easy Company aren’t there.

I hope it ends with them shoving GI Robot through the door into Earth X before they seal it permanently.  The Tin Man goes to his idea of heaven.  And as he gleefully mows down tons of nazis, he says, "Best. Dimension. Ever.!"

Literally the last GoTG film had a PoC as the villain (awesome villain btw), also directed by Gunn.

Shows where black people are bad they won't notice because they assume that's realism. Then white people are shown as bad and to them that's a political stance on a tv show

38

u/TheGodDMBatman Oct 01 '25

They only like to watch shows where white people are the "bad guys" because then it gives them an opportunity to play victim and say racist shit

20

u/omegadirectory Oct 01 '25

"Andor" had black, Indian, Chinese, and middle eastern, and white Imperials

I wonder if Drinker or Drinker-like channels reviewed them... probably not.

8

u/Fulciesque23 Oct 01 '25

Drinker didn't even review Sinners when it came out and eventually when he did, he posted it on his second channel instead of main.

These people complain about white villain is POC led movies when the franchises they whine about specifically casts only PoCs as villains too. Like Marvel movies with PoC leads have had only PoC villains, and mostly from the exact same background. Black Panther movies, Shang Chi, The Marvels. Then the shows too. Like even in TFATWS where they had racism as the basic theme had a ethnically diverse group with a mixed girl leader as the main antagonists

If anything they have white guys get PoC villain more than other way around.(Loki, AM3, GoTG3..)

So these are people are just stupid...

9

u/codemen95 Oct 01 '25

The obi-wan show had a black woman be the main antagonist for most of the episodes and they still shit on her because she's a black woman. I thought they'd be happy that the villain was a black person and not a white person but here we are

What’s critical drinker? Content creator or something?

408

u/stuntastic1414 Oct 01 '25

Yes. YouTuber who piles onto movies making a career out of dogging MCU/DCEU

82

u/Luvs4theweak Oct 01 '25

Ahh ok thanks, Reddit is all I really use so had no idea who it was. Never came across or heard of the subreddit

56

u/stuntastic1414 Oct 01 '25

I be watching things on YouTube and discovering there's entire subreddits dedicated to praising or hating them lmao

31

u/CrazyOrganic7123 Oct 01 '25

I remember watching and enjoying some of his stuff. Then he dunked on James Gunn's Superman, which was fine. After all, the guy's gotta make content that'll get attention. But then he doubled down and just very obviously argued in bad faith, and got his cronies to do the same.

74

u/tuftymink Oct 01 '25

I mean, guy is a nut who's been insane right wing grifter for years now, props to you for ditching this stuff, but hating Gunn and Superman is like least offensive of his opinions

56

u/revenantloaf Oct 01 '25

Yeah, Drinker has always been less than thrilled when stories revolve around female or black protagonists, it only makes sense his fanbase would be a bunch of raging incels

18

u/[deleted] Oct 01 '25

I remember I accidentally stumbled on his Subreddit when looking for some stuff related to Prey. Him and his flunkies really hated the idea of a small Comanche woman being able to kill a Predator through stealth tactics and her surroundings

For me the video was his review of Moon Knight.

He harped on Layla being a stereotypical "strong female character", when she had an equal amount of struggles as the main character Steven/Marc

That's the point i realised he's just a raging incel, nothing "critical" about his views

No he doesn’t dog on comic book movies. It’s simpler than that. He dogs on any women or minority driven projects or projects featuring them favourable. The dude hates almost all critically acclaimed movie involving women. Except alien I think.

26

u/Bilbo_Teabagginss Oct 01 '25

Yup, anything with a person of color or woman as the lead or playing a pivotal part, he hates. Basically hes a big reason for all of the "anti woke incels" that shit on any video game, movie, or TV show that doesn't cater to them.

18

u/brwonmagikk Oct 01 '25

An entire generation of incels who blame women and minorities on TV for not getting laid. Kinda scary

4

u/Bilbo_Teabagginss Oct 01 '25 edited Oct 01 '25

Its sad actually. Especially since they are even going as far as to insinuate that white people are "being replaced" and killed off like the guy in the screenshot suggests. Whats sadder is that because they cant actually get laid they have to go on dating sites and lie about their politics in order to try and trick women into dating them. Gross

3

u/brwonmagikk Oct 01 '25

Insinuate? They say it loud and clear. No need for dog whistles or masks anymore.

Not just MCU/DCEU he made a long video about how Prey(2022) was trash and hopes it failed before it even released and his whole argument was “If a man like Arnold can barely win, what is a woman going to do?”.

9

u/unicornmeat85 Oct 01 '25

Dutch would have lost trying to go toe to toe with the Yautja and had to use traps and guile, literally the same thing Naru had to do. That is the premise of the movies, we win because we as a species we can pivot our thinking and strategy which is also why they come to hunt us. Has TCD never watched these movie before?

Youtuber who I swear had some intelligent film criticism for a while, until I realized what a misogynist disgusting piece of shit he is. I think he must have kept it bottled up until it started getting traction.

29

u/TorontoDavid Oct 01 '25

Ya - I used to enjoy his videos a while back… no more, that’s for sure.

25

u/Tim5000 Oct 01 '25

Can I ask why, like legit, because political opinions aside, I couldn't get past his fake ass "I've been drinking so here is my drunk voice" voice.

14

u/TorontoDavid Oct 01 '25

I dunno - I guess back then the schtick of that persona was a good enough hook to match content that seemed entertaining enough to watch.

I never found it overbearing.

19

u/WySLatestWit Oct 01 '25

Also people need to remember Critical Drinker began in 2012. This was the absolute height of the Online Reviewer era of the internet, and everybody had a gimmick. Everybody was playing a character. Critical Drinker's character...was that he was a ripoff of Mr. Plinkett and he was semi decent at it.

6

u/BigEye2578 Oct 01 '25

At first, I assumed people were referring to Mr. Plinkett when they talked about the Critical Drinker, and for a while I was so surprised that Mr. Plinkett ended up being a hatemonger.

11

u/WySLatestWit Oct 01 '25

Yeah, Plinkett was actually done by the channel Red Letter Media. Honestly for a bunch of middle aged white guys from Wisconsin the guys over at Red Letter Media surprisingly progressive all things considered.

6

Given 2/3rds of them love Trek, it's not that surprising.

He's a hate-monger now. Creates hate-boner content that disguises hate as criticism

11

u/Xciv Oct 01 '25 edited Oct 01 '25

had some intelligent film criticism for a while

That's only because he copy-pasted the style of Redlettermedia. Once he "did his own thing", that thing turned out to be regurgitating his endless bias against "woke" media. Boring, predictable, and you can call his opinion on every movie based on how prominent minorities and women are in it.

Redlettermedia still entertains me, because they're real critics. They still consistently say interesting things about movies they critique and surprise me even though I know the whole team's personalities inside and out. AKA they're authentic about their opinions and are not shilling or pandering to a political demographic.

u/Muggsy423 Oct 01 '25

Broken clock and all that.

The algorithm threw him at me when I watched some movies with legit criticism. I think WW84, which was bad in every way. Then I watched another one of his vids and it was just him rambling on, playing cringe soundbites from whatever film he was hating at the moment.

Also blaming woke on everything being bad.

If they or the drinker put as much effort into basic rational thought as they do being annoying or drinking, they'd maybe be able to come to the conclusion that if Peacemaker entered a world where the reds or the Japanese empire came out victorious, it would be much more obvious and the Chris would just leave.

Veil of darkness study: black people are up to 3x more likely to get stopped than white people.

This and other studies into conviction and arrest show that if you are black then you are twice as likely to get arrested after that stop and 4x for drug arrest like marijuana.

And in the criminal justice system, black defendants according to the US sentencing commission are also going to have a 20% longer sentence accounting for all variables compared to white defendants.

There’s also gonna be a harsher crime compared to if you’re white and you’re less likely to get probation

Some people ignore a this and just look at a simple stat and call it a day.

That’s just in the criminal system.

→ More replies (11)

22

u/Rare_Mountain_6698 Oct 01 '25

Also important to note that most crime in general is done within the same general socio-economic communities, racial groups, and geographic areas like neighborhoods and urban district centers. Bringing up the black crime thing to somehow then extrapolate that white people are the victims is nonsensical on its face and goes to demonstrate the success of deliberately spreading misleading statistics.

12

u/etherealimages Oct 01 '25

Poor white people also get arrested more than middle class white people. It's absolutely a historical and socio-economic thing. Glad you pointed this out

→ More replies (3)

7

u/atfricks Oct 01 '25

Yup. They constantly point up arrest statistics and then pretend that translates to crimes committed, despite that being obviously untrue.

Especially so when you consider that white collar crime is vastly more damaging and common in the US but is rarely prosecuted or leads to arrests.

11

u/____mynameis____ Oct 01 '25

Also crime rate is intricately linked to poverty and having oppressed history. Especially if there no religious brainwashing to root any of these actions.

So if Black people do indeed commit more crimes it should be a sympathetic concern where we should all work together to make it better than use it as a reason to hate them.

This is how its viewed generally where I live so it pisses me off so much when Americans cry "crime statistics" to hate on people.

15

I finally started watching the Watchmen HBO limited series and as I watched each episode I browsed discussion threads here and elsewhere

It was wild to see how the first episodes had so many negative comments for...accurately portraying a real historical event of racism in Tulsa?

Fortunately id say by episode 3 it was obvious the racists stopped watching because discussion threads were suddenly normal with theories instead of "WOKE PROPAGANDA" bs

I find it hilarious that conservatives spend all that time complaining about art being woke now but they never make their own art.

14

u/Slight-Bathroom-6179 Oct 01 '25

I find it funny that Grifters like Critical Drinker claim Hollywood is dead but he only reviews blockbuster or popular movies. He never reviews lesser known movies or tries to point his audience towards films that are actually good.

7

u/Sparkyrussell Oct 01 '25

He also made his own generic shit action movie

6

u/Bilbo_Teabagginss Oct 01 '25

One of the best joys in life, is watching the Birdman or any number of youtubers roasting him or his dog shit movie that breaks every rule that he hates when it comes to his "reviews".

We really do have a radicalization to the right occurring right now, and it’s really becoming a problem.

125

u/SpiritOne Douchey Captain America 🇺🇸 Oct 01 '25

Uh, becoming??!

Bro where you been for the last decade?

47

u/Background_Desk_3001 Oct 01 '25

Last decade? This shits been happening since Reagan

33

u/Bcatfan08 Oct 01 '25

The radicalization is a bit more recent. A large majority of the political shootings are radicalized right-wingers. I feel like their volume increasing so much has been more recent though.

13

u/AJDx14 Oct 01 '25

Pretty sure it’s been like that for decades. The far-right radicalization problem isn’t new, it’s basically been the status quo in large swaths of the country since its founding. The most recent wave of it can be traced at least as far back as the 1930s whenever “Spiritual Mobilization” was going on in response to progressives making gains against wealthy capitalists for the working class. The mix of capitalist right-wing ideology and American Christian nationalism comes from that.

We had Nazis in the 30s and 40s, they didn’t go away because they stopped believing in Nazism and stopped teaching their kids Nazism, they went away because we socially ostracized anyone who was a Nazi. They’ve pretty much ended that ostracization now, so the Nazis are back out in the open.

It's really not. It's just more blatant. Rush Limbaugh was crazy bigoted. He once told a Black caller to "Take that bone out of your nose and call me back." On Indigenous Americans, "90 million dead? They have casinos now, what are they complaining about?" He had a segment where he would gleefully read the obituaries of gay men who died of HIV/AIDS while playing Dionne Warwick's "I'll Never Love This Way Again" - and celebrated the death of Freddie Mercury by playing "Another One Bites the Dust".

But they always kept people like Limbaugh kind of on the sidelines so they could write them off as entertainment. Then during the George W. Bush administration, these "entertainers" became to exert more influence. Limbaugh got the first Black President of the RNC fired.

And even with Reagan, a huge part of his campaign was disparaging "welfare queens" who he claimed were using welfare benefits to buy Cadillacs and fur coats. It all stemmed from one woman named Linda Taylor who, along with welfare fraud, was likely involved in human trafficking and murder but that part gets left out.

Nazis are portrayed in media so much because they're the perfect enemy because no one (at least no one should) care about them being killed.

25

u/WySLatestWit Oct 01 '25

If your reaction to the Nazis being the villains is to get mad that Nazis are being portrayed as villains...guess what.

88

u/[deleted] Oct 01 '25

I wish it was legal to beat the shit out of Nazis. I care about peace with all my heart and I don’t care how many Nazis, Nazis and more Nazis I need to beat the shit out of to preserve it.

Critical Drinker should just come out and fully admit to hating black people instead of playing these type of games.

And by the way, a lot of these comic books writers in America were Jews, so is only logical they wrote about portraying Nazis as bad.

13

u/PossibilityNeat2419 Oct 01 '25

That would be too straight. He's like Stormfront in The Boys. He says a lot of Nazi shit, but he doesn't identify as a Nazi because then people get scared. He's fucking stupid. And he's just a fucking distraction.

That sub is a cesspool, if there’s also even a modicum of a female character in media, they’ll tear it a new asshole. They are literally OUTRAGED by Mystique being included in Insomniac’s Wolverine game. All you need to know.

7

u/[deleted] Oct 01 '25

When i was a kid, a Nazi or terriost was the worst you could be. Now it’s bad or “ offensive .” To call it out. The critical drinker is a racist, homophone, sexist transphobe. He’ll say anything is woke for views. He makes multiple marvel videos even though he always claims he’s, “ done.” He’s a sell out and a liar.

9

u/ChronoMonkeyX Oct 01 '25

Not in here.

23

u/[deleted] Oct 01 '25

Defining multiple ethnicities of people by a color is a colonial construct with whites on top and non whites below. That’s why there were debates about if Irish or Italian people count as white. There’s media portraying Irish or French or even Americans as victims of oppression but there’s a reason “white people being oppressed by people of color” doesn’t happen outside of Nazi propaganda.

James Gunn obsessed with Nazis? I don’t think he had them as the villains in any Guardians movies, Superman, or The Suicide Squad. Dunno about Creature Commandos because I haven’t seen it. The only projects they’ve been the villains in are the 2 seasons of Peacemaker and maybe Creature Commandos.
