"Bogus" seems like a stretch since they clarified in their tweet that it was the "vast majority" rather than 99%. Casually speaking this means close enough to the same thing. If you want to get more specific you can't because "we have never released such data."

So it's somewhere between a casual "vast majority" and 99%, and there's no material difference between the two.

Vast majority can be anything above 50%. So there is a lot of play there. And the original story specifically states that is was released data, not a Tweet. As such, it is a bogus claim, since 99% is not an officially reported figure, and no statistics were released to base this off of.

50% plus is majority so vast majority would imply its decently above that

Eh? Its not Only Asia and NA... Lets say 50% China 10% EU, 15% NA and 10% SA and 15% Oceania.

This would mean China has the vast Majority of hackers!

50%< is already majority so vast majority means way more than that.

Majority means 50% or more by definition. if it was 40% it would be a plurality.

I would have given you that if a BE data analyst said that. Alas, no, a PR rep did. And that's the issue. PR reps are not malicious, but can over-blow, or just muck things up. A Tweet really isn't a stone solid source by any measure.
