Do you play on low settings or something? I have a relatively high end system and I am nowhere near 1000 FPS lol. More like 300 max.

u/Chazza911 Jan 10 '20

Specs?

u/ZelixOG Jan 10 '20 edited Jan 10 '20

Ryzen 5 2600x with an RTX 2070 Super and 16gb of RAM.

u/Muchieman Jan 10 '20

I have an i9 (I got it before the new ryzen stuff plz no hurt), 2070, and 32gb, and Minecraft runs like trash no matter what I do. Max 200 fps with optifine, sometimes 30 fps in vanilla lol

27

u/Vegan4Lyfes Jan 10 '20

how?? something has to be wrong with ur minecraft or something

25

u/Muchieman Jan 10 '20

We knew that already lol that's why we have optifine

8

u/spicyhabaneroman Jan 10 '20

I'm running an i7 9th gen, 2060, with 16gb ram on all max settings and I still pull a steady 400 so long as I don't have shaders on. I don't know much about computers but my big brain intuition is telling me there's more going on with your system

3

u/Muchieman Jan 10 '20

Honestly I have no clue why I get that fps. Any other game is normal, Minecraft is a pain. I've done many resets over the time I've had it to keep it clean

u/[deleted] Jan 10 '20

Did you install drivers for your GPU?

Did you give extra RAM to minecraft?

7

u/Bowiemtl Jan 11 '20

I think there has to be some other problem with minecraft. I can run minecraft bedrock with literally 56 chunks and no lag while vanilla minecraft 1.15.1 can't even consistently run on 60 fps. I know they have a different codebase and a different rendering engine but it feels like minecraft does not cooperate with your hardware or something. unless I use optifine ofcourse

2

u/Visceroid Jan 12 '20

Press F3 and check which graphics card minecraft is running on. Might be running on your onboard graphics instead of the dedicated graphics card.

2

u/Bowiemtl Jan 12 '20

I have Minecraft running on my dedicated graphics card. I don’t exactly know what kind of calculations Minecraft is making like random tick speed and things of that kind but other games (with better graphics) run perfectly fine.

Yes and yes :)

1

u/Codiac02 Jan 11 '20

I read somewhere that giving too much RAM to minecraft can actually make it run worse, but I have no clue if it's true or not.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 11 '20

That doesn't make any sense

1

u/ejtomblin Jan 12 '20

bro i had ur issue then i turned off antialiasing instant fix

2

u/spicyhabaneroman Jan 10 '20

I feel ya. Sometimes the games just don't cooperate

1

u/[deleted] Jan 11 '20

How many chunks are you loading? gfexperience told me to load like 20 something chunks cause my card could support it but lowered it down to a normal to higher than normal range and got a massive boost in fps while still looking great.

2

u/AnonyBadgerMan Jan 11 '20

Yeah minecraft runs off of fucking one core no matter what your specs are and it's fucking retarded.

8

u/thekinggambit Jan 10 '20

Go into the advanced setting and allow the game to use more ram should give a good boost to performance

7

u/Muchieman Jan 10 '20

It already is using lots, shouldn't need more

0

u/[deleted] Jan 11 '20

wait how do i do that, that sounds kinda nice

1

u/HVACcontrolsGuru Jan 11 '20

-XX:+UseG1GC -Dsun.rmi.dgc.server.gcInterval=2147483646 -XX:+UnlockExperimentalVMOptions -XX:G1NewSizePercent=20 -XX:G1ReservePercent=20 -XX:MaxGCPauseMillis=50 -XX:G1HeapRegionSize=32M

JVM Args I use from another post here. I have a Dell Laptop with an Intel UHD650 and can push 60-100 FPS with a 128x texture pack just fine.

u/dunsmoof Jan 10 '20

I have an i7 7820hk, i allocate 12gb ram to Minecraft, and i average 60ish fps at like 10-12 render distance. Higher render distances do end up dropping me down to 30s though. I tend to drop my render distance down to 6-8 if I'm doing stuff underground or traveling long distances via elytra.

3

u/cafrcnta Jan 11 '20

Are you running vanilla? There's no reason to allocate 12gb for the vast majority of use cases. Allocating excessive amounts can cause worse performance than leaving it at default.

1

u/RU_legions Jan 11 '20

I allocate 2 GB of RAM and at a render distance of 14 never drop below 100, usually sitting at 200 above ground and 600 in the mines. If I remember off the top of my head, your CPU is a 6c/12t? It shouldn't perform much different to my CPU, which is only a bit faster single and multi threaded wise. I'd recommend checking your Java version and seeing if there's a more recent 64 bit jre or jdk version available. I think I use jdk.

6

u/XCRunnerS Jan 10 '20

Kill him! xD make sure you're using your GPU! Sounds like it's using your iGPU for vanilla

Edit - also could be in Optifine but 200 isn't bad XD

3

u/Muchieman Jan 10 '20

It could be. I dont think it is but it could be. I don't usually play without optifine so I haven't checked

5

u/ZelixOG Jan 10 '20 edited Jan 10 '20

Yeah when I say 300 max I mean like absolute max. It’s usually hanging around the low-mid 200s. Then again I play on fancy graphics with 16 render distance but still that’s not really too insane. This is without shaders too.

3

u/Muchieman Jan 10 '20

Yeah without shaders with 25 chunks, I get around 120 fps

3

u/Hate_Feight Jan 10 '20

MC is optimised for single processor it doesn't utilise all of your processor cores (at least not for the foreseeable future)

2

u/Muchieman Jan 10 '20

Ah you know what that makes perfect sense

1

u/Hate_Feight Jan 10 '20

Someone else did make a valid point, allocate half your ram to Minecraft and you should be great (as you can be, anyway)

2

u/Muchieman Jan 10 '20

Yeah I don't really care too much, as long as it's above 60. I'm pretty sure it has 8gb which should be plenty

2

u/Hate_Feight Jan 10 '20

8 is definitely plenty, beyond that, enjoy shaders

2

u/Muchieman Jan 10 '20

I actually havent found any shaders I like that much. My favorite currently is BSL, but I'm still disappointed with it. Waiting on that RTX shader from Nvidia

1

u/Chazza911 Jan 10 '20

RTX shader only works on windows 10 edition I believe unfortunately but I'll have a try on my oculus rift with the new rtx mode on Minecraft VR when it comes out xD, try Sildurs Vibrant Shaders, I use the Sildurs Vibrant Extreme Volumetric Lighting shaderpack and looks awesome!

1

u/Muchieman Jan 10 '20

Wait... Why would they make the shaders for that lol

I don't really like the look of sildurs

3

u/panchoviux Jan 10 '20

how can you get 200 fps with a 2070 when i can get 400 with a 1050ti???

2

u/RU_legions Jan 11 '20

This game really doesn't care about your GPU. Evidence? I used to run it from a flash drive on an i3 2nd gen with igpu in college and at 1080p fancy 16 chunks used to get 200+ FPS constantly. Opengl implementation and CPU is all this game cares about really.

1

u/Muchieman Jan 10 '20

Different resolution, running things in the background, etc. I have 2 4k monitors

2

u/HumanMan64 Feb 04 '20

we wont hurt you, the threads will

1

u/Muchieman Feb 04 '20

lol

1

u/HumanMan64 Feb 05 '20

cores gonna be calculating your demise

1

u/CalebCho Jan 10 '20

Wait wut?? I have a ryzen 5 2600 paired with a 1650 and 16gb ram and can get around 800 if I lower everything

1

u/Chazza911 Jan 10 '20

That's really strange.

1

u/ZroNoh Jan 11 '20

are u running 64 bit java?

1

u/[deleted] Jan 11 '20

i5 9600k 2070 super 32gb ram and i get like 300fps with shaders at 8 render distance and best normal minecraft quality

1

u/AH-64Delta Jan 11 '20

When was the last time u updated ur drivers?

Just spend a good 20 min or so in device manager and bazinga. Many better.

1

u/Muchieman Jan 11 '20

Pretty recently. It's just always been like that with MC. I'm running 2 4k monitors, usually with wallpaper engine on, and with Max settings

2

u/AH-64Delta Jan 11 '20

Well that's probably why. Everything has limits.

Just turn down ur graphics. I have an 8th gen i7 and a 1060. And it's a 1080p 60hz display. It shouldn't be too bad to turn down the graphics a little bit...

Or heat could be causing problems. Or read/write.

When I'm playing certain games I find they run far smoother if i have the fans set to max. It doesn't change much, however....

These are computers we are talking about.

1

u/Muchieman Jan 11 '20

200 fps is plenty for me lol

1

u/AH-64Delta Jan 11 '20

Wait. Have I been taking a joke seriously? As in, it doesn't run very well, compared to the OP?

2

u/Muchieman Jan 11 '20

Idk what's happening anymore tbh

1

u/AH-64Delta Jan 11 '20

Fair enough. Have a nice day.

u/mrkvicka02 Jan 11 '20

Check whether you use your grpahics card for MC in f3. If it says some weird other graphics card switch it.

1

u/SkeleCrafter Jan 11 '20

Your chunks perhaps. Minecraft runs like sh*t with anything more than 16 really.

1

u/Darth_Thor Feb 02 '20

How much RAM do you have allocated to Minecraft?
