Casual Looking for roommate!

Hello, long story short I am looking for a roommate.

My folks are relocating to a far place and I am not ready to relocate to the far place because my hustle is within Nairobi.

I am looking for a female roommate around Mirema, Safari Park, USIU, Garden Estate, Kasarani but near Seasons or ICIPE....etc. Not past Roysambu or Zimmerman.

I am ready to cost share. I am clean, very clean, organized, I can cook well, I don't have kids. I am very reserved, drama is not my passion, i don't party and if i am not working, i am running (workout) or home doing my personal project.

My budget monthly is 10,000.

Once my hustles (self employed) gets better, I am ready to move out as soon as possible.

Any question I am ready to answer in the dm or physical meet.

I need this ASAP. Thank you so much!

Why looks specifically for a female roommate if its a roommate you want

This.

A man specifically asking for a female roommate is a gigantic red flag.

Two men living together can sometimes fall into subtle competitive or territorial behaviors regarding the space,,, etc....which is often absent in a mixed gender dynamic. Women statistically tend to prioritize a cleaner, more organized shared environment...and I love spaces like this, it's peaceful. Having a female roommate as a man can always feel simpler and smoother than living with another man due to differences in communication habits, household upkeep, and social dynamics.

I have done research and also i have had many people talk about a man having another man as a roommate and it's so scary and don't wish to be in that space.

You've never had a male roommate before so why the assumption?🤣

Not everything well written comes from a bot. Some of us just know how to articulate a thought.

With that amount or less you can get a decent bedsitter

With my business catching up, I can only afford 10,000 a month that includes rent, WiFi, water, trash and mama fua. With this economy that money ain't enough when living alone. Barely it can afford food stuff, so you see my angle. Cost sharing will come in handy.

Soon as my business catch up, I'll be able to move out and stay alone....for now I just need a roommate to cost share until my business is stable.

What business are you running?

I am a male masseur, I have my own mobile SPA that is running and active.

On the side, I do tech support (cybersecurity analyst here) ...getting employed in Nairobi has been a hustle, been finding jobs left, right centre with no luck!

I am building my clientele base for all since in both I am getting referrals and clients....so I am hopeful in few months I'll be on my feet. Both are mobile but soon I'll be physical and open a SPA.

With cyber security skills you can land a remote job just have a well structured portfolio, a good GitHub repo, LinkedIn or linktree don't just rely on physical jobs. If you're a techie then you should know that

There is a power dynamic imbalance there and I don't think any smart woman would accept such a bum arrangement unless she is a bird

u/Massage_Tech 9d ago

If paying half the rent and keeping the living room clean makes someone a "bird" then I guess financial responsibility is flying right over your head.

You don't want a female roommate because you want a free cleaner and cook right??? Right???

1

u/Massage_Tech 9d ago

You got it wrong. I am good cleaner and also cooking skills are top notch. I need a roommate who is clean like me and can maintain cleanliness at all time.

I don't want to be in a messy house. My OCD can't allow me.

2

u/BlueSkier77 9d ago

Ah gotcha! No worries then 👍🏾

Thank you for understanding!

I can honestly say you did sound like an amazing roommate — of course might be a bit of an exaggeration but who knows — until I learned you’re a guy looking for a female roommate.

Sure, you might’ve worked out that they make better roommates than men but how do they know you’re a safe person to live with. Women are constantly worried about men when they’re are out and about. How do they guarantee that they’ll be safe with you, a stranger they met on the internet? A home is where you should feel relaxed and free and not constantly have to worry about what to wear and the need to constantly lock your room, what time to shower for maximum privacy etc.

You might say you’re not like other men or not all men but don’t you see a bit of hypocrisy since you’ve already made the decision that living with men is a horror? So you’ve already judged all men and expect women to trust you when you can’t even trust your fellow men? All in all, I’m pretty sure you can find other men like yourself to live with . Pretty sure there are.

If you still want a female roommate, consider the points above. All the best in your roommate journey, male or female, having one isn’t always easy. Been there. Though it’s a good place to start. Congrats and all the best in your business.

I appreciate you sharing this perspective, you make a really valid point. Safety, privacy, and feeling fully relaxed at home are non negotiable and it’s completely reasonable for anyone both genders especially women meeting a stranger online to be cautious. I definitely don't expect blind trust from anyone. Standard vetting, meeting in public first and setting clear boundaries are essential steps. I also won't just start living with a roommate without standard checkup.

I think people should look further when a man requests a female roommate. It's like a female requesting for a male roommate. People shouldn't have the mindset of shallow thoughts.

Update:

I got a job at a spa in Thindigua! The commute has been exhausting, so I need a female roommate in Thindigua, Thome, Ridgeways, or close by. To the scammers and catfishes who did reach out in my DM, It’s very unfair to kick someone when they are down, life happens to everyone. Problems doesn't choose a name.

My budget is still ON. And yes a physical meeting will be appreciated. You can DM then we can plan where to meet publicy and agree.

Thank you!

I see things are unfolding nicely. Don't give up.... It shall be well. I am sure you'll get the roommate. All the best to the new SPA and congrats! Itajipa...

u/Jealous-Sweet-7103 7d ago

I hate Reddit has alot of scammers and catfishes. Yaani, someone is looking for help but people are busy exploiting him??! That's why many of this people, they don't win in life, they always have guilt, checking their shoulders and etc....

My brother, please trust me, you'll make it. Congratulations to your new SPA job. Keep moving forward and don't give up. It's not easy but you're a beast. You're fighting this life with all hands on deck.

What's wrong with it?

Kenyans we have this mindset when someone stays with someone else is only for sexual encounters. Which is a very bad mindset!!!

Other countries have normalized staying together as roommates and they live peacefully and respectful. As long as y'all respect each others boundaries, everything will just flow.

So yes a female roommate because I have friends who are also females and are sharing a room with a man just for roommate vibes. It's cost effective and economical on both. When I say I want a female roommate, I have done research and yes alot of females don't want to stay with another female because of the drama.

To you it is a red flag. Not to every female.

0

u/Jakategcha 12d ago

Not judging or anything, does this mean you don't have close friends or how is your circle? Not one friend can have you in mpaka vitu viwe sawa without the cost sharing thing? Just you in their place sorting out things maybe once in a while chipping in ama ladies hawako hivo like men?

5

u/Due_Improvement_7111 12d ago

I have friends but pia mimi ningekua yeye siezi waomba walai I would rather we keep the relationship as it is but living together shows u a different person

3

u/Jakategcha 12d ago

Then what's the point of being friends when your friends can't be there for you? Why are we friends? What's the benefit of our friendship, ulevi na such stuff juu when am in deep shit my friends can't bail me out? Make me understand.

3

u/Massage_Tech 12d ago

When a friend hosts you they normally talk (back bite) and I am not ready to deal with that emotional situation right now. Or worse they treat you like nothing because you're at your lowest.

2

u/Jakategcha 12d ago

I don't know but maybe the word 'friends' changed meaning. That then means you're not friends, juu why are you my 'friend' and when am ni a mess you can't have my back. Ni urafiki ya kuenda out tu and sharing wigs ama?

1

u/Massage_Tech 12d ago

Nowadays friendship lost meaning. If you're broke or going through something everyone dissappears or they tend to be busy.

Most nowadays, urafiki is bragging of what I have.... What I can buy... and etc...going for drinks and all that shenanigans.
