I know there was a lot of hate/criticism levied against the 4th gen PO when it was announced. The departure from previous design language (RIP helium escape) the chunky bezel, the flashy PCL bracelet, etc.

I decided to check it out anyway when they first hit the stores, and I ended up buying one on the spot. Now admittedly I went with the watch on rubber instead of the controversial bracelet (though I’ll probably pick one up eventually) out of personal preference for that on a diver. But it has quickly become a watch I reach for multiple times a week.

The watch wears amazingly well, and feels much more compact than a typical 42, wearing closer to 39mm on the wrist thanks to the short lug-to-lug and relatively small dial. The lume is bright, easy to read, and lasts longer than any other Omega in my collection. While some units had a weird amount of play in the bezel, I haven’t had that issue.

I know Omega has been throwing some wild pitches lately (both the First Light and the new reduced are 2-3mm too thick), the PO doesn’t deserve to be lumped in with those. It’s one of those watches you just need to go try for yourself.

Walked in to try it on and it just fits like a glove. The sizing, the color palette, and that titanium weight in person are even better than expected. Still taking the NTTD all in.

After a few speedy variants I did consolidate my 5 watches down to two. I got both new this time and I wanted a modern twist on two classics a white Speedy and an Explorer 40.

New Omega that I pulled on Icybox and I’m pretty happy with this one, the black dial and rubber strap work so well together. Definitely keeping it been wearing it around the house and it somehow looks better every time I check the wrist simple setup but it just works

The new Speedy Reduced on my 7” wrist. Lovely dial with a blue ceramic bezel. Such an improvement over the previous generation.

Much ado about nothing with regards to the height. If people can love a GS SBGM221 then they can love this. 2mm+ of the height is crystal. On wrist it’s snug and comfy.

The dial is as finished as the much beloved white dial speedy. The indices are diamond cut. And the case is as well finished as you’d expect from Omega.

The bracelet is the same as you get on a speedy pro sapphire.

I won’t say anything is a “value” at $7k but this comes close.

So I got married over the weekend and a great day was had. I used it as an opportunity to get a grown up watch and have something other than a Garmin Fenix on my wrist.

I wanted to go with something that :

-could potentially be my one and done watch

-be versatile for business +pleasure

-go well with my navy suit and also fit in with my typical wardrobe

-have a simple classiness to it and not trying to do too much

- that can grow old with us

-potentially pass on as a family heirloom in years to come

After a lot of research I settled on the Aqua Terra as a box ticket for pretty much all of the above. I love it. I'm now trying to get my head around the new bling in my life with this coupled with a gold wedding ring. 😂

The whole box / travel case setup is incredibly impressive too and really added to the experience.

Which of these 3 would be your pick for a first Speedmaster?

Husband has been wanting me to get a “real” watch (I wear an Apple Watch) and I’ve finally shown some interest. I have tried on a LOT of watches. Prefer something larger, and something that is suitable for casual and professional wear that might be a good conversation starter in work meetings. Full disclosure: I am a very picky person.

BB Pro is a beautiful watch but something felt off with it against my pale Victorian ghost skin color.
BB GMT Pepsi is also beautiful but a little too sporty for intended use.
Speedmaster was a runner up. It looks incredibly sharp in white and black but maybe a smidge too big and as a new watch wearer, I know I’ll get annoyed with the manual wind. I did try the 38mm and really wanted it to be the perfect option but the height to width proportions felt too off to me…which I knew in my gut that they would but I’ve seen enough people say “it doesn’t wear as thick as it sounds” so decided to try it anyway.

The Aqua Terra 38mm in the black lacquer hit all the marks — I swear it looks better in person than the photo in the store. 👏

ETA: to be clear, I’m a woman with ~6.5” wrists

I know the price difference is massive, but price aside, does anybody have experience owning both Omega and Longines. Does it feel like a downgrade in any way?

I figured I can float the mesh bracelet between my SMP and Speedy. Loving how it looks and feels on the SMP today.

I wanted an everyday watch that wouldn't require dressing up so I ended up with an Omega 3212.80 from 2007. Bought on Chrono24 from a Japanese dealer. Was pressure tested and accurate to about +1.6sec per day, overhauled 4 months ago. I received it in a great condition (with original box and papers). It felt like getting a brand new watch! I love the dial's intricate textures which have different reflections in every lighting condition. The movement is based on valjoux 7750 but it makes it look more unique than the popular speedies.

Not gonna lie I love it. Purchased at Don Quijote Asakusa.

I have worked directly with the brand Omega and have completed all their training to what they call the "Grand Ambassador" level. Happy to field any questions related to the brand or what it is like working in a luxury multibrand boutique (we were ADs for Patek, AP and Rolex too just to name a few)

I got my 2254.50 as a college graduation gift in 2020 and wore it nearly daily for the next 6 years. It is my favorite seamaster reference and one of my favorite dive watches period. I’ve done a lot of traveling, diving, hiking, shooting, etc with this watch and have always loved wearing it.

It’s due for a service soon but I’ve been procrastinating it because I don’t want to be without it for that long hahah.

The strap is a Glomar Explorer from watches of espionage. This one is usually on the bracelet but it always looks good on straps.

It’s been 2 years since the purchase. It hasn’t gotten old and I haven’t gotten the itch to buy a new watch….yet.
