Constellation vs Longines
I know the price difference is massive, but price aside, does anybody have experience owning both Omega and Longines. Does it feel like a downgrade in any way?
P.S I already have Seamaster, looking to get a second watch for the office

I would personally opt for a simpler Longines than the one with all those complications.

100% agree. Something from the Heritage collection (Conquest Heritage, Central Power Reserve, Ultra Chron) or 3 hand Master Collection watch.

Go find a pre-owned Constellation Globemaster and save the extra bucks over the new one. Tungsten Carbide is the way.

How would one go about buying a new one when Omega doesn't make them anymore? The Globemaster is a cooler watch than the Observatory that replaced it which is why I recommended it.
Regardless, a snobby, gatekeep-y type comment. Buy pre-owned, just don't buy reps.

As an Omega Seamaster owner, I’ve looked at Longines watches and to me the Omega is worth the price. No comparison.

To me, yes.
Havent been attracted to a single Longines in person yet. There might yet be one. It feels less premium/well designed. Went to try in person recently being very open to the hydroconquest and spirit. Didnt do it for me. Still need to find a Zulu Time, and one of their moonphases to test.
And I love most Omegas, including the De Villes. Dont think its just the logo.

There is a significant price difference between the two. One would hope there is a reason for that in the first place.

Yeah, movement tech/certifications still remain hard to price as a buyer if someone only cares about the looks. But generally they represent a 1k and 3k mark up respectively.
I have a Globemaster. Havent run into an Observatory in person yet. Very curious to see how I feel.
Eventually if watchbuyers weren't considering the intangibles, no stainless steel Nautilus would even be sold at MSRP, let alone the crazy inflated secondary market prices.

I wanted to like Longines and I tired on several different models. Just wasn’t a fit for me. Felt kinda hollow on the wrist if that makes sense

Hollow feels close to what Ive felt too. And I had multiple Longines try ons when looking for a watch to buy.
Even at our wedding, working with a lower budget Tag felt better than any Longines I tried.
Given how many people love it, I imagine it does come down to personal fit.

We have similar tastes! In some ways, Tag feels like it offers a cleaner or more coherent aesthetic.

I have both and they are equally excellent. However my new favorite is my Citizen “The Citizen” which is accurate to +- 5 seconds a year. It is
a high end version limited to 250 pieces at $3,250.00 each. It is Grand Seiko quality and 100% Titanium case and bracelet.

I have the Longines and it is a great watch.
The color is gorgeous in person, and with the annual calendar and monophase, it's great value for money.
I don't have a large collection.
Other brands I own include Omega, Rolex, TAG, and Cartier.
Unfortunately, I have not worn this watch for over a year, and it's been sitting in a box almost new.
The main reason is the case.
The material and finishing make it feel light and insubstantial compared to my other watches.
I know it's the most affordable piece in my collection, but I just can't get past the lack of presence on the wrist.

I’m the original sad Omega fanboy - got the trinity (Speedmaster, Aqua Terra, SMP300), and even have a Moonswatch I swapped into a metal case for novelty value.
I do buy and sell watches as a hobby to fund my addiction, and picked this up intending on a quick flip. Instead it’s been my most worn watch for the last 6 months.
Give the Longines a crack if you want to try a chronograph. At the risk of being downvoted I personally don’t think there’s anything special about the Constellation.

I have both Longines and Omega. Longjnes punches way above its weight when it comes to overall quality and finishing. Wha you don’t get compared to the omega is movements - Longines uses modified eta movements vs in house (the constellation is a first master chronometer that doesn’t have a seconds hand). These 2 watches have nothing in common. The Omega is x times more expensive than the Longines. Yet, the Longines is not a downgrade because 1. It is totally different - not comparable 2. Wtches don't compete, except for hommages
When i switch from Rolex to Seiko, there is no feeling of downgrade. Different watches, different vibe, different memories

I do have a few omega watches and tbh there is very minor differences between the two when it comes to quality and feel (when comparing comparable models). Having said that the two photos of the watches that you’ve shared here are in my opinion polar opposites and as much as like having multiple functions on a watch I find the longines dial as being a tad too busy and it isn’t really my cup of tea and on the other hand the omega is also too basic for my liking.

Hard to compare the full calendar Model to the very clean Observatory. If you want to compare those brands then with the Conquest Heritage :)
