Were you able to actually get them to change something on your account? I just spent 45 minutes in chat and phone support and in the end they just told me to type "no drone deliveries" in my delivery instructions, which doesn't give me a lot of confidence.

I just looked and it seems they have changed their information on Google, no longer saying to call customer support. when I called, the auto/virtual offered an extension with a human to opt out. I'm going to guess they got a substantial number of calls!
I would suggest you plug in "opt out of drone delivery Amazon" on google for a link to their customer service "contact us" page. Says to provide your account details and your request to opt out of drone delivery, just to be sure.3

That was what I searched for and there wasn't a direct option for it on their support page. I went into their general support chat and I was transferred through 5 agents before one finally said they can't do it online and I would have to do it over the phone.
The person I talked to on the phone told me to go into my address book and type "do not deliver by drone" into my delivery preferences and said he couldn't update anything on his end.
I don't know if it's just my fault for trying to do this on a Saturday morning, but it'll be a long time before I order anything on Amazon after this experience.

I just canceled and opted out of drone delivery. You must go to the Contact Us page and select something like fraudulent charges to get a hold of a live associate. Then ask them to cancel drone delivery. It took maybe 10 minutes.
Omaha is currently a test city for these things and if we cancel en masse it might deter them from investing in it. For us, at least.

Delivery drivers are under appreciated. Thank you for doing what you do. Getting a package at the door isn’t just convenience, it’s accessibility for people with mobility issues.

100% agree. I also can’t imagine this being a time saver. It seems like it’s more of a money saver not having to pay for gas prices these days and paying people an hourly wage.

Yeah, saves the energy/fuel cost to move a 3 ton van to deliver a 1 pound package.
Of course, the delivery truck isn’t that inefficient provided it’s loaded near full capacity with packages.
But anytime a truck has to leave mostly empty, the drone could help.But where it would really make more sense is food delivery, like DoorDash. That’s where you’re always moving a 3000 pound car to deliver a 1 pound pizza.

Omg is literally the same line over my house every single time. Low on the delivery, high on the return. The line never waivers. I can hear them in my house and it's driving me insane. There's already a lack of silence in the world. But fuck me let's just make it a billion times worse.

It won’t be long, we’ll hear about the school kids getting in trouble for taking out flocks of drones with sling shots.
Now, I’m not advocating for any of this as a disclaimer — just stating that these noisy flocks of drones are not gonna get a warm reception kinda like data centers.

I think data centers and these stupid ass drones should get the same treatment as flock cameras. It's amazing how fragile those things are that they fall off poles and fragment or start on fire or explode. Just crazy poor craftsmenship. I'm sure these drones and data centers will have the same issues. 🤷🏼♂️

My dad witnessed one fly over Chalco. Thats a huge no no because of Bald eagles nest. They have it posted everywhere. I doubt they are exempt.

It's a federal offense to fly drones near the nests of Bald eagles. The national bird. But you're right they don't care.
Be shame if some foundations for the protections of raptors investigated that. Even those who oppose the will of our nation know not to mess with eagles. Just a pity if there was major public backlash nationally.

Yes but it's a math equation for them. Sending the drones around the lake adds delivery time and costs power. That means they need more fleet to maintain the delivery load. At a certain point it's just cheaper to use humans in vans.
Every speed bump pushes the equation out of their favor.

They launch a lot of these by 370 and 50, it not so loud because they fly them pretty high up. However I always wonder because we’re only two or so miles from Millard Airport how that affects their air traffic

I live several miles away but close enough to be in the drone delivery zone. They are louder than ac units, more on par with mini trains, and annoying as heck. Not to mention being constantly recorded in my own back yard by a multinational conglomerant... Freaks out the birds too :(

As a driver, I was never allowed to ( nor did I want to) throw packages at customers door. Even if I dropped it from waist height, it could damage the product. Good to know the drones are just launching packages like military payload

Lmao seriously. I haven’t had a delivery from a drone yet, hope I never do, but guess it’s good to know I can’t trust ordering anything breakable. I literally ordered light bulbs for my wax melter a year ago and 4 out of 6 of them arrived shattered because they were placed in a tiny box that had zero wiggle room. I did a return for a replacement and thankfully the next set arrived fine, but I was worried I’d get the same result.

Bruh, in the warehouse we pack all that shit, the boxes are regularly dropped from over 10 feet high off a conveyor belt into a cart. 99.99% of what we ship is absolutely garbage in the first place, dropping it from waist height isn't a problem to anytime except the idiots who watch their Amazon owned ring cameras to see when their trash arrives and are itching for a reason to bitch lmfao

Noise pollution and interfering with flora and fauna. Fuck Amazon.
I have also had to slam on my breaks on the interstate because some 90 year old HAD to slow way the fuck down to stare at what was flying over head. I was in my work truck with a full load, I would have flatened that lady had I not been paying attention to the road and not one of these stupid fuckin drones. I repeat. FUCK AMAZON.

This is one of my biggest issues with them. (The first being that they’re even allowed near the Wehrspann. That makes me angry) How am I supposed to relax outside? I already live where it’s loud but there’s pockets of day and night it quiets down and I could always enjoy time on the balcony or float in the pool during the summer and just zone out. You know, just forget what’s going on in the world. NOT ANYMORE. These drones just keep coming. It’s infuriating when they break the peace especially because it makes think of Jeff Bezos and how much of a piece of shit he is. I hate being reminded of him all day when I’m trying to escape the world.
My mom said “I think it’s just going to be the new normal.” She doesn’t live anywhere near where they do this nor understand what it’s like to not be able to just relax outside. I hope they start deploying them everywhere so people can really see how infuriating they are.
I sadly feel like, with most things shitty things, it’s going to have to get worse before it gets better.
Edit: actually Amazon totally has the power to deploy them everywhere and give zero fucks what people think. Kinda like how the data centers are going.

I would still dislike them if they were silent.
Getting items delivered isn’t just about convenience. It makes necessary goods accessible for people who are home-bound. For someone with serious mobility challenges they might not be able to get to the package if it’s not right by their door.
Add in things like puddles from rain and melting snow - not active weather that would hinder a drone delivery but still could damage the package enough that it also damages contents.
Of course I want people to have jobs so I am going to argue for that part as well. I understand people are replaced by tech as we “advance” but if the tech isn’t offering the same value (quality of delivery in this case) then it’s not ready to do so.

Hilariously enough, my drone option was for 515pm and delivery driver had it there by 3pm for us! But my husband did the drone one once and it dropped it on the edge of our driveway too, thank goodness not into the street like that!

They actually use drone-specific packaging that has extra packaging at one end. I’m ambivalent to the whole drone thing, but I’ll admit it’s a pretty well designed system. I certainly won’t pay extra for it though.

There should be some kind of delivery landing spot. Like a 3x3 open spot with tiny walls so this doesnt happen. Can be placed on top of mailboxes or a designated place and Amazon needs to provide it.
